What resort is closest to Downtown Disney?

I prefer to be within walking distance to Downtown Disney.

If it does not have to be official mouse ears Disney....I have stayed at BV Palace and they are right across the street from the DT Disney bus stop for access to the parks, and right across the street is DT Disney itself.

I don't think you can get a more convienent hotel.

We stayed there and had a lake view room which was nice. They also have fireworks view rooms.

It is a very clean and comfortable resort and are probably on par with most of the deluxes at Disney.

In July 1997 my family and I stayed at the Regal Sun Resort which at the time was called the Grosvenor and the entrance to Downtown Disney Marketplace was right across the street.

These two moderates have the boat that takes you to downtown disney.

Disney-owned Saratoga Springs and Port Orleans Frech Quarter and Riverside all have boat ransportation to Downtown Disney.
Otherwise, the Downtown-Disney resort area hotels not owned by Disney but on DIsney Property would be in walking distance. Of those I'd say the Grovsner or Royal Plaza would be the closest.

Old Key West also has a boat to DTD; however, Saratoga Springs is also Disney owned (if that matters to you), absolutely beautiful, and if you stay in the Congress Park section you can walk right over and it is a short ride in a boat also. Since you don't have to traverse the parking lots, Saratoga Springs may actually be closer than the DTD hotels (but I have never really looked).

Another vote for Royal Plaza or any of the preferred hotels on that strip. If you go to mousesavers.com you will find a link that talks about those hotels in particular and special rates you can get through that site. Again though, these are not Disney owned hotels. Also keep in mind that if you decide to look into those hotels, you can find fantastic rates on them through hotwire.com, expediea, travelocity, etc. In fact in helping another poster, we found a rate of $89/nt two weeks from now! Can't beat that!

SSR - you can rent a reservation from a DVC member. You want to ask for Congress Park - it is about 5 minute walk to DTD - marketplace.

OKW, POR and POFQ all are close to - boat transportation. You can actually walk to DTD from OKW - if you stay in the south pointe area. It takes around 15 to 20 minutes - you end up in the West side not the market place.

ssr also has the boat. but if you end up in CP it is easier and faster to walk over.

The only Resort not owned by WDW in that area which offers EMH is the Hilton, however that is the only WDW Resort perk that they offer.

Staying inside WDW is the ONLY way to go in MHO. SSR is directly across from DTD and you get to experience the magic of Disney 24-7!!

Ther is no longer access to the parks from DTD...You would have to take a bus to one of the resorts then transfer to a theme park bus.

Here is the translation for the OP. I had to quote the post, so I could see everthing!

SSR=Saratoga Springs Resort
OKW=Old Key West Resort
POR=Port Orleans Riverside
POFQ=Port Orleans French Quarter. These are all on-site Disney resorts, and you only get all of the Disney perks by staying at an on-site Disney resort.

The perks are EMH(Extra Magic Hours) where on-site guests get to either enter a park an hour before the official opening time, or stay 3 hours after the offical closing time. The parks vary by day, but Disney does have a list on their web site. You should be able to find the list from the home page of this web site as well. The Hilton in the Downtown Disney area DOES get to take advantage of this perk too.

DDP=The Disney Dining Plan. Basically buying your meals ahead of time. For a set price you get one counter service meal, one table service meal, and one snack each day of your vacation.

It's the closest hotel to The World of Disney, and staying there has all the benefits of a Disney resort. You can walk to Downtown Disney, and if you wish, can catch the busses, or use the Hilton's own busses.

If you mean walking over to Downtown Disney to get on the buses to the parks that does not work anymore, since they no longer go directly to the parks.

Well, you've come to the right place. We all love Disney and are more than willing to share our opinion...

There are so many hotels in Orlando, let's try and narrow down what you want. The good questions to ask yourself are: Do you want to stay on Disney property? How much do you want to spend per night? How many people in your party? Realistically, how much time are you going to be spending in your room? Are you going to rent a car or depend on hotel transportation (another perk of staying at a Disney hotel is the Magical Express service which picks you up from the airport, and then Disney has bus transportation, etc. on property). Is there any type of hotel theme that you would love or hate?
I only ask these questiosn because there is a BIG difference between looking for a Downtown Disney Resort Area hotel and a Deluxe monorail hotel.
I'm sure there are a number of us willing to pipe up with our recommendations based on what your answers are...
