ASMu Family Suite alternate floor plan???

I am staying in a family suite this November (AAA discount, thank you very much!!) and I was wondering if anyone had stayed in one of the "sample" suites Disney built at first? I know there is at least one suite that has a couch and 2 armchairs in the living room, and I think maybe only 1 bathroom because that is what allearsnet.com has pictures of, not the typical floorplan. I think there may have been at least one other alternate floor plan built and tested.

Is it possible to stay in one of the other floorplans? Has anyone gotton another floorplan? I fell in love with the pics on allearsnet and was a little disappointed (though obviously not enough to dissuade me from staying in them) that they didn't go with that design.

Anyone?

What you saw was just a mock-up. Disney changed the room layout before they added them to the resort.

I swear I read somewhere on this board that someone has stayed in one.

Also, I wonder why allearsnet has the wrong picures up? That seems odd to me, they are always so on top of things over there!

I have never heard of an ASMu family suite with one bathroom.

I can just imagine the uproar if a family booked that suite and ended up with one bathroom! We have used those suites several times and I would be straight back to the front desk if I found only one bathroom for my family of five.

OK. So, it seems that for some reason I have hit a nerve with this posting. But I am NOT crazy, and thank you Helen, for your help. For those of you who are doubting, in the Family Suites official thread, post #174 CLEARLY describes and has pictures of a DIFFERENT floor plan. So at least at that time, they were there.

As far as the one bathroom, I only said I THOUGHT that was the setup, not that it absolutely was, I was only trying to explain the pictures as I saw them. And my family of 6 would not have minded that, we have stayed in MANY suites that only have 1 bathroom. As a matter of fact, I can't remember ever staying in a suite that had more than 1 bathroom.

And as to my question about allearnet's pictures, I thought it was weird because they have updated photos of every other type of room and suite on property, but they DO NOT have the correct pictures of the suites. I KNOW they are pictures of the sample rooms, I stated that already, but the suites have been available for over a year, and they are VERY different from the pictures shown (I would far more prefer the little half wall in the living room) and the correct pictures are available on many other sites. I thought it was odd, that's all.

What rate did you get with the AAA for the suite?:confused3

$187/night! Rack rate for when I am going is $220 Sun-Thurs and $240 weekends. I made room only reservations last October (13 months out) and I know they sold out of AAA Fam suites months ago.

Yep, I understand about there sometimes just being one bathroom :) It's just that the Family Suites are not new construction, but that they're modified from existing rooms - remove one outside door and replace it with wall material, change out the inside connecting-room doors to a single one with (probably but not necessarily) no lock, add a full wall in one room and make part of that room a kitchenette while reducing the number and possibly size bedding in that room, to still allow space to move around... so it genuinely wouldn't make financial or construction sense to remove a bathroom.

As for the allears pictures not being current - as with the restaurant menus, they rely a great deal on site participants to submit information, photographs, etc. Not entirely; not nearly entirely. The site administrators and staff visit several times a year. But nobody goes everywhere or does everything. Chances are none of them has ever stayed in a Family Suite (and now that those are in use, few people not staying in them would have the chance or the inclination to take pictures in one), and neither has anybody who reads that site and submits material.

Fortunately, the DIS has minnie61650 and her extensive gallery of pictures and information about the Family Suites :teeth:

I don't actually care how many bathrooms there are, why you think they probably wouldn't build the family suites to have only 1 bathroom, or why allearsnet doesn't have updated pictures. All I want to know is if the sample floorplans were still there and if you can book them, because I would be interested in that.

Thanks Ashley:) We are booked for Nov 30-Dec 5 in the ASMU Family Suite. I booked a package with ph and dining. When I broke down the total cost of package I think I am paying about $208 a night. I am hoping for a Disney Visa package deal in August. That seems to be when they come out. I am waiting and checking code board till then. :surfweb: Hoping for a good deal to come my way!popcorn::

Good luck with the codes! I'm in the same boat, I'm waiting to get my park passes until the august codes come out. Hopefully I'll be able to afford PH then, since I'm paying for 5 adult passes and 2 kid passes! The extra $40+ per person adds up with that many people!
