Hi There, I am just really torn as to which one to stay at for my upcoming trip so thought I would get some input here. Thanks a bunch.:goodvibes

Hi there,

I think it depends on where you are planning to spend most of your time. Please give a little more info about your guests and your plans.

I would personally do a split stay between the two-they are both so magical in their own ways!

I voted for the Polynesian because of their location, Monorail access, walkway to the TTC, renovated rooms and because of how easy it would be to visit other Resorts on the Monorail line like the Grand Floridian and the Contemporary.

Love the Poly, and like the AK.

The Poly has it all IMHO, location, atmosphere, view of the MK, the Monorail traveling around. Its just so in the MIddle of it all. I love it.

The rooms are huge, the pool is small but OK, and watching the fireworks or sitting on the beach watching the monorail go by or the water parade just can't beat.

Thank you for all the input, I am still trying to decide. I have stayed at the Poly before and know it is wonderful, we will be visiting all parks, but as one other poster said, the Poly just seems to have it all, the location is great. Anyway, some more input would be great, I just know I have to decide by next week, at least that is my deadline. So any other suggestions is good for me.:goodvibes

As another person recommended, split your stay. It may be a pain, but if you do it early in the morning, it may work out.

I have stayed at both. I love both, but prefer to be at the Poly with teenagers so they can come and go as they please using the monorail. If I had never been to AK, I would do it at least once and will probably go back once the kids are off on their own.

Good Luck!

I voted for the Poly :dance3:. We love the location and the overall feel of the resort....it's just so peaceful ::yes::. Plus you can never get enough of the great views. As a pp suggested.....maybe try a split stay :confused3? We've never done a split stay due to the fact that once I'm checked in and unpacked, I'm not leaving until it's time to go home :rotfl: :rotfl:. If the move wouldn't bother you too much, you can get the best of the Poly and try the AKL all in one trip :goodvibes. Good luck with your decision and have a great trip :cutie:.

Voted for Poly...we were there last December and expected boring decorations based on previous yrs, but wanted to return again...what a delightful surprise! Last yr the decorations were elegant and gorgeous - and festive. :)

So because your countdown looks like you'll be there in December, I voted Poly :)

Have fun planning!

POLY, POLY, POLY

We just got back and we did a split stay. It was SOOOOOOO wonderful to have options for transportation. The bus only option got old very fast. There is so much time wasted for buses. We waited for over 2 hours total, for buses in ONE DAY.....yes we park hopped, but still.....the monorail is so convenient.

Thank you for this info., that was one thing I was wondering about, I am happy to hear that last year the decorations were a little bit better, because I will be there over Christmas, we were going to out West but changed to south instead, I have to edit my ticker, just trying to make up my mind which resort, but it looks like it might be the Poly.:)

I would split it if were me! That way you can have the best of both worlds!!!

I love both these resorts and have done split stays twice at these 2 resorts. I highly recommend a split stay. I was able to get good rates at the Poly both stays otherwise I know it can be quite expensive.I think I was able to get AKL CL for less money than a gardenview room at the Poly.Being able to take the monorail is great but I think AKL CL is also a great deal. If you need to choose just one maybe see which resort you can get the best rate staying at. I don't think you can go wrong choosing either one.Have fun, which ever one you choose!!!:)

I absolutely love love love both of these resorts...If the price is not a factor then I would definitely go with POLY bc of the monorail. both of these resorts I think have the best theming out of all of the resorts. However, if you are tighter on money the AKL is wonderful. My fiance and I want to go back to POLY for our disneymoon however if we cannot afford it we decided we are very happy going back to AKL or we may be adventurous and try WL.

i'll throw in a vote for AKL. The AKL just has such a wonderful ambience when you walk in with the huge lobby and lots of place to hang out.
The poly doesn't have that feel to me. Though i love it.
But if i did the AKL i would almost want to just drive to the parks, but even though the buses aren't shared, at night they were often crowded and took awhile to arrive.
In a way, AKL is a place where you want to hang out and feels a little more removed from the parks. For myself, when i am at the poly i sometimes get too compulsive about going to the parks because it's so easy. AKL forces me to relax a little!

You know that is a good point about AKL and forcing you to relax a bit more. With POLY it is just so easy to hop on the monorail and go somewhere that I kind of feel like I constantly have to take advantage of it. I will say one thing I really missed when I was at POLY was the AKL pool area. I think it is the most beautiful pool area of the Disney resorts. It really felt when you were relaxing around the pool that you were secluded from everything else and it our minds of the parks for a while. We also loved that they had two jacuzzi's and missed having one at all at the POLY. Whenever I think of Animal Kingdom I picture all the animals but mostly I picture this:

Hi - I've literally just returned from a four night stay at the poly (garden view) and an unplanned 1 night stay at AKL (savannah) and I have voted for the poly - would definitely stay there - the atmosphere is great and there is something extra special about being on the monorail system - you really feel at the centre of everything!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
