Ok, I keep seeing Crocs mentioned in threads and many great things said about them. My question is why are they so loved? :confused3 They look plastic and...large. Are they better and more comfortable then a sport sandal?

I'd love to read folks' opinions. :surfweb:

They work better for me than any Teva I've owned, and they are often more comfortable than my running shoes. And I only have the mary janes, which are actually too narrow for my hobbit feet, but I just can't handle putting MORE width onto my tootsies. Once I get brave enough, I bet the Caymans (is that the normal style?) will be even more comfy for me.

But for me it's always about variety, with two pairs of shoes a day to keep 'em happy.

They are super comfortable to me, and the only shoes that I don't get serious blisters while wearing at DL.

I have wide flat feet, so the width is really comfy!

I wore my two pairs of Mary Janes this past weekend (4 days) and my feet loved me for them. The Caymans are a tad bit more comfy, but my feet look HUGE in them (I wear a size 10) and I just have one pair I wear around the house.

The only thing about my MJs is the plastic nob on the sides did rub and HURT but after a couple days BEFORE my trip of wearing them that pain went away and it didn't hurt anymore..

But I did get pretty funky tan lines from them...

I have the Mary Janes, the Beach style and the Mickey crocs (which I believe are like the Beach style, but with Mickey head holes). I love them. I tried wearing tennis shoes last time and my feet didn't like me for it.

They are light weight and are supposed to fit loosley. That means no pressure points which means fewer blisters. They can get wet and it's not a problem. They don't get stinky (they're antibacteria) and they float in the water, so you don't lose them.

Beach are wider than Cayman. I have wide (but not fat) feet and I can't wear the Cayman (they are more narrow). I have the Beach (Red Mickeys, black, lime green, tan, pink), Mammoth and one of the ones with no holes (specialist, I think). I also have 2 pair of the flip flops (the first ones, whatever they're called). I just got a pair of Mary Janes and they are the teeniest bit snug in one area, but I haven't tried to stretch them at all yet. Once I do, they'll be FINE! :goodvibes

I can walk around in them for DAYS and not get blisters - unlike any tennies I've ever worn.

I wore my New Balance to work an 8 hour shift and by the end of the shift my feet were killing me. The next night I wore my Crocs for a 12 hour shift and my feet were fine.

I wear my orthotics in them which make them perfect for my feet. I hardly wear anything else now. I'm looking forward to trying the new HEELS they have now!

"Beach are wider than Cayman"

Good to know!!!!! My maryjanes are tight, so they do rub a bit, but it's still better than my Sauconys (or last year my Asics or the year before my New Balances) after a few hours!

Also good to know you can wear orthotics in them.

My ONLY real problem with them is that they squeak, and I HATE shoes that squeak. It's a major problem for me...

My kids love them. My son says they are soft and they dont hurt. I broke down and bought mary janes at Costco the other day and wore them to disneyland. My feet didnt' hurt at all and it felt very soft and bouncy. DH is finally getting a pair too!

COSTCO?!?!?!?!????? Are you kidding me????

I've gotta go!

I love my crocs. I have 4 pairs.

2 mickey Crocs black/red and blue/green
2 beach crocs Purple and of course Lime Green

I have tried so many different shoes at the parks. Sneakers, Flip flops you name it. Nothing worked. Last March for a trip to WDW I bought my first pair of Crocs. I never wore anything else the entire trip. My feet didn't' hurt at all. I do wear no show socks for blisters.

I now where them all the time. To and from work, on my days off...everywhere. I love them

Both of my kids have crocs as well and love them.

I just bought my first pair of Crocs this weekend(mary janes). They are so comfy.I think if you get a pair you won't regret it.I walked around the store I bought mine at with them on for a while to see how they were.

You guys mentioning your kids reminded me! DS got a pair of Mickey crocs (shoebuy!) at Yule. Although they are still a bit too big (meaning they are much bigger than his foot), they are his most comfy shoes. He is prone to leg aches and growing pains (the leg aches come from me, the growing pains come from growing, but DH remembers being in agony with them at 3 as well), and the leg aches are especially strong if he's spent a big day running around.

But if he runs around in the crocs, even if it's all day jumping and being crazy, he does NOT hurt. All his other shoes...stride rites, Nikes, Buster Browns, they hurt his legs at the end of the day (arnica cream is his best friend on those nights), but not the Crocs. So even if I couldn't wear them, I'd love them b/c of him!

I forgot about Costco...might have to go run out and get some Beaches...

I love my crocs. I only wear the athens (which are flip flops) or the Nile which are kinda like sandals. Last year I took my tennis shoes and a pair of athens crocs to disneyland and only wore the crocs because the other shoes hurt my feet. This year I bought the athens and the Nile to wear. My dd got the Nile and my Dh wears the athens also. We all think they are the best on the feet after a long day of walking. Jodi

Yup...Costco! But out of the 4 that I live by, they are the only ones that carried them. They were $21 and they also had caymans.

I've had my Crocs for 4 years... mega comfy, durable, waterproof.

The only thing is, mine are the wrong colour for anything other than wearing around the pool / beach, so I may well invest in new pair before we head o/s (although it sounds as though they're cheaper in the US).

I have arthritis in my legs, hips, back, and feet. Last summer I went to DL in my New Balance runners. My feet were sore by the end of the day- but the next morning, I literally couldn't get out of bed. I was horrified. Now, DH has sworn by Crocs for years, and told me to get some. So on our next visit, my first stop was at the Emporium where I got some hot pink Mickey crocs!

And not only were my feet not sore- the next day, I felt like any other day! I was SOLD. So now, they're pretty much all I'll wear to DL. No, I'm not a fan of the "look" of the Beach crocs- but man, if they can keep me going until midnight, so be it!

Now I want to get some mary janes for regular use, and another pair- maybe the Caymans? I know there's a Crocs store in Santa Monica, but I don't get over there very often. Where else can I buy mary janes besides online? I'd like to try them on first since they are a little different fit.

Oh yes! They are VERY water proof! I wore them on the 3 times we went on GRR and the 1 time we went on Splash and my feet got SOAKED (especially on GRR!) and 5 minutes after we exited the ride, I swear my feet were dry. DBF was jealous I had dry comfy feet and he didn't..

Ok, Y'all have convinced me. I'll have to hunt them down this weekend and try a pair. I looked online at their website and I didn't realize there were so many types! Whatever will help me go all day for 5 days, I'll try!

I went to my local mall and found several stores that sell them. Nordstrom, Journeys, and several others. Just look around - they seem to be everywhere these days.

I've seen the maryjanes at REI.

Little backing up here...so far, the only people who have posted are those for whom Crocs work. There are definitely people that can't wear them, or can't wear them to the parks. You might be one of them, or you might be one of "us", but you'll only know if you try them!
