You'll have to forgive me... it's been 25 years since my last visit to DL.

When you say that you trade pins - do you wear them somewhere in particular ? Is it a hobby ?

I've collected pins and badges from everywhere I've been to in the world, but they're on a special board I made myself here at home. Should I take some with me when we visit ?

AGH ! So much to learn in 4 short months LOL

TIA !

You can only trade Disney pins in the parks, so if you have some Disney pins in your collection that aren't near and dear to your heart, by all means, bring them to trade!

Most casual traders wear their pins on a lanyard around their neck. More serious traders bring books with them, too. It is a great hobby and lots of fun for the kids!

There's a ton of information on www.disneypins.com

Look at the "get started" section and all the links under there (there's even a pdf with rules), as well as the "tools of the trade" link.

I buy pins, but it's only to collect (in a VERY small way), I never trade. My husband trades some of his, but not the ones I get him. Others will trade just about anything!

We wear lanyards and DBF carries a book. I have 3 lanyards I wear, not all at the same time altho sometimes I do. I have a pirate lanyard, a keeper lanyard and my trader lanyard. I always wear the trader lanyard and carry the other 2 in my backpack. :) I have a book at home but don't carry it around, it's too heavy for me to do that. My girls each have a books, sometimes they carry them, sometimes they don't. They also both have lanyards. DBF carries a book because he likes to trade and he carries a lot of traders around, he wears a lanyard for CM trading and uses the book for trading with others. He enjoys standing at the pin tables and trading with people who just walk up and start looking, he will trade just about anything for just about anything.

I would suggest visiting the site that Molly posted, it's got a lot of good info on it.

It's the same site. :) I just like the simplicity of typing disneypins, and it's easy to remember, too! Disney has so many redirects...:goodvibes

Thanks so much for the help :)

I'll read up on the other site.

I have a Paris Disneyland pin, and a HUGE Goofy Disneyland badge I bought in 1980 - it would be 4 inches in diameter. Neither one I would trade.

Cheers,
Sally :)

DBF and I both have lanyards with pins. His are strictly Stitch pins while mine are Princesses (mostly Belle). I've never traded and neither has DBF. I only carry about 8 pins on my lanyard while I'm walking around the park because it gets heavy and starts to bother me.
