So have you ever wanted something for a really long time? Like it keeps crawling back into your brain, even when you try to shush it up or sweep it away. But it always tip toes back, sometimes quietly, sometimes really LOUDLY in your head. Well that has been a solo Disney trip for me. I love going with my family, even my DH Grumpy. I've written two other Pre Trip Reports/Trip Reports, one I just finished up. Travelling with my 3 kids Belle, Bashful and Goofy is fun and we've made so many memories. But yet that little voice still calls "Go by yourself! You know you want to! You could actually sit and watch Off Kilter, you could actually not hit every single restroom in all of Walt Disney World, you could actually not have a sore neck from carrying everyone's stuff in your Baggalini".

There are many reasons why I want to go solo and I'll take the time to tell you as I wait for my trip.

You see, I did it. I booked it. I plunked down the cash. I'm going. Plane tickets bought. Hotel reserved. ADRs even made, though subject to change.

It is happening and that little voice in my head has been "Woo Hoo"-ing for the last week!

Whoah! Oh you are going to have so much fun! :cool1: It will be so interesting to read your PTR. It's all about what YOU want to do! :woohoo: Congrats!!

So what makes someone want to go to the Happiest Place on Earth all alone? I can't answer for anyone but me. Grab a coffee, or a coke, or a wine or whatever your pleasure is and let me tell you about my Distory (that is Disney History).

I was raised on the Mouse. ::MickeyMo My first trip was my 3rd birthday, October 1st, 1972. See the connection, Disney World opened on October 1st 1971. The first trip was a Girl Power trip: me, my Mom, 2 of her cousins, my grandmother and 2 of my Mom's aunts. We stayed offsite and I have very sporadic memories. I recall the little tiny cans of juice you could get in the vending machine by the pool. I remember dancing with one of the Three Pigs in front of the castle, we had old home movies of that many moons ago. And I remember being terrified of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and refusing, in only the way a 3 year old can, to go on.

Fast forward 2 years, October 1st 1974. My 5th birthday and my single mom Mother pulls me out of Kindergarden and takes me to Disney World again. This time just she and I at the Contemporary. I remember watching the Jungle Book there and getting a Minnie Mouse stuffed animal that I slept with for years.

Growing up I was immersed in Disney. We saw every Disney movie, I had Disney books, we went to Disney On Ice and Sunday nights were reserved for watching The Wonderful World of Disney.:happytv:

We wouldn't visit the World again till I was 14. Oh what a trip that was. My Mom had since remarried so it was the 3 of us. To this day we all agree they should have let me bring a friend. I was in that 14 year old I-know-everything-and-I-dont-even-want-to-walk-like-I'm-actually-with-you mode. Gosh I dread those years with my own kids. We had an okay trip, staying offsite at what was then the Buena Vista Palace. I don't even know if it still exists by that name. :confused3

Fast forward to college. I follow a high school sweetheart to University of South Florida in Tampa. Good reason to choose a school right? We made numerous day trips over to the World and friends from home visited a few times to stay over Spring Break and we went. In hindsight I wish I'd spent even more time there. I really wish I had looked into the College Program.

More years go by, married now. To a Disney Virgin! :rolleyes1 We decide to go, well I decide and convince him. In between booking and actually going I get pregnant. So it was not the trip we had planned. It was more like let's wait in line and then I'll do the chicken exit and you actually get to do the ride. We stayed offsite at a Sheraton and that was when I vowed I would never again stay offsite. It was Grumpy's first foray into the World and he was not sold. Not even Pixie Dust can convert this guy.

Three kids later and 9 years and we finally take our kids. That trip was a suprise and was documented here. It was a great trip! And besides that it relit my Disney Fire! I couldn't stop thinking of Disney after that.

We soon booked the March 2008 trip. We left Grumpy and went with my parents to celebrate my Mom's 60th. That trip is found here. A fun trip but certainly had its challenges.

So in between there Grumpy and I were challenged by our best friends in the world to run a race with them. This, if you know Grumpy and I, is laughable.:rotfl2: I countered with sure but it had to be in Disney. They agreed and we have a grown ups only trip planned in January 2009 to run the Half Marathon. We have been training and I found the WISH board here on the DIS and it has been a huge help and encouragement. I AM going to do this and be successful at it! Grumpy and I run our first 5K in about a month!

Okay so you get the picture? I was raised on the Mouse and in recent years my obsession which was dormant as an ancient volcano just erupted. I'm always DISing or TGMing or reading books from the library on Walt or the parks. I wear Mickey T shirts and Mickey jewelry while I drive my van with the Mickey Moms Club magnet and Sorcerer Mickey antennae topper. At the Mom's Day breakfast at my kid's school where the teachers walk around and chat my Bashful said "This is like a character breakfast but with teachers", I know I am rubbing off on them!

So since the relighting of my Disney fire I have had this desire to go solo. To see what *I* want, for as long as I want, when I want. I have a list of things I want to do which I'll share with you. I'd love your input to. What are some things you'd love to do that you never seem to get to do? You'll have to share!

I love my family trips but I'm also really excited about this.

I'll be back with a little more insight on why exactly I want to do this and what kind of reaction I've gotton on going alone.....
