Which Disneyland Hotel and Weather

Hi...
I am thinking of taking my two little girls to Disneyland this summer...DH would not be with us....Which of the three hotels would be best for myself, a five year old, and a four year old?

Also, I have not been to California in years. What is the weather like at the end of July?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Off site hotels on Harbor Blvd are the closest to walk to DL and DCA.

Be prepared, it will be hot. The hours of the parks will be long, so I would recommend staying at DLH and taking advantage of the pools in the afternoon.

Is cost a big factor? If it isn't, I would recommend the Grand Californian. It is the closest of any hotel, with a private entrance to CA Adventure. It is very luxurious and beautiful (and also very expensive!). They have a fabulous kid's pool. It's not as overtly themed as DLH, but DLH is a hike, especially for one adult trying to talk 2 little ones into walking back to the hotel on their own steam. We stayed there for our first trip and loved it, but it was a splurge-- we're staying at HoJo's in October.

Some of the hotels right across the street on Harbor are almost as close as the GCH. Park Vue, Tropicana, BWPPI,etc.

I'd go with the DLH. I think they have the best pool, and the kids love it.

It's going to be REALLY hot! I'm in northern ca and we have already had several 100+ degree days. I know So Ca is even worse.

the pros of July weather;

Most likely it will not be humid and since you are from texas you won't notice the humidity if we even have any. Its nothing like Florida HOT!

Mornings and Evenings are beautiful on average. If you go back to your hotel and take pool breaks and naps you might be able to rest the kids up to go back and take advantage of the later park hours.

There are also nice places at DLR to hide from the heat in the parks so even in the heat there is places to still have fun and be cool at the same time.

I second what fairycat says. Although the afternoons will be toastie, the mornings won't be bad at all, and the evenings are absolutely delightful.

I think your girls would love the Disneyland Hotel. Its got spacious rooms and honestly, even though its further down Downtown Disney than the Grand Californian, the GCH is a vast, spread out building with some walking to be done once you get inside. The Peter Pan pool at the DLH is great for kids and its generally much cheaper. And any guest of any of the Disney owned hotels can use that private entrance from the GCH into California Adventure. It is very easy and time saving to cut in and out of that on your way in and out of DCA to your hotel. I do love the GCH and its got a very deluxe feel at a very deluxe price! It also has a really nice pool area and almost all of the rooms have balconies. Its a truly lovely hotel. But there is something about the DLH my family just loves, we have been staying there since my kids were little and have never had anything but a wonderful stay. The monorail is a great way to save some walking back and forth to the hotel. The Disneyland Hotel just has so many Disney touches in its rooms, as well as its grounds. Make sure you leave your curtains open during the day, the sunlight will make your wallpaper border sparkle at night (Its Tinkerbelle's pixie dust).

My best advice is to read that link Hydroguy gave you and make sure you ALWAYS get to the turnstiles at least 15 minutes before opening. Disneyland has a huge base of people that are local and driving in from all parts of Los Angeles. They don't always get there first thing! Even during the hottest, most crowded times of summer, we have had wonderful, quiet mornings at Disneyland. Then we go over to DCA for a couple hours around lunch time, then back to the hotel for a rest and swim. Then we can go back for dinner and fireworks at Disneyland or have dinner and see the Electrical Parade at DCA. I never wait in long lines or stay in DL during the hot, crowded afternoons because I get so much done early. Also, since you will be onsite you will get into the park an hour early for Magic Mornings each day they are offered.

I would suggest DGC if money isn't a big issue, like mentioned above it is the closest and after a long day of walking that closeness comes in handy. I am staying there in Aug. for I am taking my 2 boys and they are way older than yours but I like the closeness.
