Hi everybody. First off a quick introduction. I've been a member of these boards since 2006 when these boards were a tremendous help in planning for a WDW vacation. I decided that I wanted a new user name, so here I am. Since I live in northern California, Disneyland is my home park and I'm an annual passholder. Hopefully I'll post more frequently than I have been, especially since this site introduced me to the fun and challenge of writing trip reports.

So, with no further ado, here's my question. I just booked my annual post tax season recovery trip to Disneyland for June 4-June 7, 2008 at the America's Best Value Inn & Suites. In short, I've never stayed there before. It looks like it's within walking distance from the parks, but more importantly, AAA membership paid for itself with this booking.

What am I in for? How are the beds? Is the continental breakfast okay? I'm not really worried about the pool since I'll be in the parks all day long. Thanks.

the motel is 1 block from DL so yes, it's fairly close and definetly walkable. as far as the motel itself to me it's a basic no frills motel, with a bed, small tv, chair and tables, etc. it's along the lines of a motel 6, if you ask me.

I'm not familiar with TripAdvisor. Is it a pay service or a website that sounds highly useful.

No frills is fine with me. Mainly I just want a clean room to sleep safely and comfortably in. I decided to try it since the price was substantially cheaper than the other places I've stayed in on recent visits.

I have only stayed there once, it was late at night, I was with my friend, we needed a room, and they had a room available so they won. This place scared the crap out of us, but you have to take into consideration we were two 20 year olds over 300 miles from home on our own. There were suspicious marks on the wall, that I kid you not, looked like dried up blood. The room was nothing fancy. The bathroom was small. And as you can tell, we survived the night or I wouldn't be writing this right now. The location is behind Toontown, and if you happen to be in your room when the fireworks go off, don't freak out, lol! It seriously sounds like bombs are going off. The bed was fine, I didn't venture into eating their food, I'm not THAT brave.

Thanks for that. Now I have a better idea of where the hotel is located. For some reason I was thinking it was closer to DCA. Anyone know how far it is from Mickey and Friends parking lot(and how easy is it to get to Mickey and Friends)?

I think it was 2-3 miles to the parking garage, and it has to be easy to find if I found it.

Good to know. I'm considering purchasing a Disney big figure while I'm down there and will probably purchase it the day I drive back home to NorCal, so I want to walk as little as possible while lugging that box.

Then I would definitely recommend the parking garage that day :goodvibes

I also recommend that you eat a churro for me :rolleyes1

TripAdvisor.com is a website where people review hotels, their experiences with staff, etc.

I checked that site out. The reviews were mixed ranging from bad to a pleasant surprise. Sounds like I'm best off simply driving to the parks since walking there may involve crossing the highway, but I've got an AP, so parking is not a problem.
