We have a ride booked for 7pm. We are there mid May. Are the love bugs going to be a huge bother to us do you think? Anyone have an experience to share?
Thanks!

I didn't know that you need to book the carriage rides to far in advance.
We are going to be there in Sept.
Did I have to book the carriage ride so far ahead? I was hoping to be a little more spontanous with this.:lovestruc :) :goodvibes

Good luck with those love bugs. They were so bad in September 06 when we were there last.

No one can predict the love bugs. No experience to share but they more than likely will be there. Can do you do anything about them? No.

The only thing you can do is to wake up that morning and decide if you want that carriage ride that night.

Waking up and deciding won't really work because they need 24hr cancellation notice. I really just wonder if they (the bugs) are likely to swarm around you and since I expect we will be at a leisurely pace and unable to move about to shoo them away, will we feel "trapped" in the carriage. My dd3 has recently developed a bug fear and I don't want something like this setting her off;)

We were there last May during the lovebug season they were bad at the resorts but never saw any at the parks- Strange!!!! Didn't realize they were there at different times of the year either.

I would alos like to know if going in Sept - do you have to make your carriage ride ressies this far in advance? I was planning on just booking it once we are there. If I do decide to book it ahead of time do we call directly to the resort staying at POR?:confused3

I believe you can book the carriage at 90 days out. I booked in the 80 day area. I knew we wanted to do the carriage ride and to be on the safe side I booked. WDW-PLAY is the number I think.

You can book 90 days out, and if you know exactly what you want then there's no harm in doing that. However it's not really necessary to plan quite that far out if you don't want to. Just don't expect to necessarily be able to get walk-ups on the day.

Remember the 24-hour cancellation requirement, if you do plan to judge it while you're there you will need to cancel the day before your ride.

We did it last October and it was lovely, but I can't comment for May I'm afraid as love bugs are rather seasonal. My best advice is still to book it and then make a judgement on the day before as to how bad the bugs are likely to be and cancel if you're too worried. Why not ask one of the carriage drivers the day before?

My experience was exactly what Joann described. I was there last May, and the lovebugs were really an annoyance at the resort and especially around the pool where they dive bombed you, crawled on you and your stuff, and drowned themselves in your soft drink. In the parks however, I only had issues with them once, in line for the Dumbo ride at MK. Otherwise, at the parks they were non-existent.

Hopefully they won't be an issue for you.

We were at POR in May a few years back and didn't have any problems. We went on the carriage ride and loved it. We booked while we were there.

I just got back from POR TODAY!!!!!
The love bugs were defnitely around, and although startled at first...my 2 and 4 y.o. did fine as long I didn't make a big deal about it. We didn'r do the horse ride, but we did the Surry bikes and they didn't bother us at all!

I have been searching for some info on carraige rides and haven't been able to find anything. Any info would be helpful, price, times, where they go, etc. Thank you!!!!
