Connecting Rooms at AKL or CBR?

First of all, what a great site! I'm getting a lot of useful information. Anyway, I'm planning a trip in October and was thinking about either the Animal Kingdom Lodge or the Carribbean Beach Resort.

It'll be 3 adults and 2 children (4 and 2). We would like to get two connecting rooms so that when my youngest goes to bed early, the rest of us could do something else in the other room. Does anyone know if the AKL has connecting rooms for the savannah views? And does the CBR have them as well?

We usually stay at CBR and always get connecting rooms. I would assume that AKL has them too. Just make sure you have it noted on your request when you make your ressies. Also, be sure you requests "connecting rooms" NOT "adjoining," which just means rooms beside each other, but w/out an interior door between them.

Thanks for the info. I'll give them a call today to see if the AKL has them as well. I thought I read somewhere that if you tell them that young kids will be staying in the room, they will guarentee that you get them?

stayed at CBR last year and had adjoining rooms it worked out great my family in one room and my mom in the other that way if we wanted to go out late and she didn't we wouldn't interrupt her, like last post said make sure you request it, we were in Jamaica with a view of the pond it was beautiful love the atmosphere, feel like you in the Carri bean.Try all the water sports and sit in the hammocks after a long day sipping a nice cold drink, its a very relaxing way to end your day.

For the $$ compared to AKL I would stay at CBR. Hope you have a wonderful time, we will be going again in Sept. 25th anniversary:cool1: and free dining at POR.

Nope, not in your case. That is only if there is a certain kid to adult ratio. I think maybe it's 3 kids to one adult? If there is a way according to their standards that they can have at least on adult in each room w/out exceeding the maxium occupancy, then they will not guarantee it. But honestly, in all the trips we've made, we've never had an issue getting them, so I'd say odds are in your favor.:thumbsup2 Sometimes you may have to be persistant (in a nice way) when you check in, but they generally can accomodate. *I realize there have been several instances where members here have complained about this very thing--I'm sure there will be people jumping at the chance to direct you to those threads soon and send you into an unnecessary panic. * (It's a wonder that more people aren't turn off of the idea of planning a Disney vacation given all the "no you can't do that's" and "don't get your hopes up" comments sometimes.:sad2: )
If all else fails in regards to getting one when you check-in, you can usually be moved the next day to get what you need/want.

We just stayed at the AKL last week & they do have connecting rooms. We stayed on one side of the connection, not sure who was on the other.

Thanks all! Well, we've decided to switch from the AKL and go with the CBR. We'll save some money and I think the AKL will be a better fit in a few years when the youngest can also enjoy it.

When I book it, I'll make sure to ask for connecting rooms. When I called earlier about the AKL, they had to break it up into 2 reservations. I guess because we wanted two rooms and there were 3 adults/2 kids. I wonder why you can't book two rooms under the same reservation?

We have stayed at CBR many times and always request connecting rooms - never had a problem with being placed in connecting rooms and have stayed there MANY times.....just in the past year they have started having a separate reservation for each room --- including who is staying in each room (that is at all resorts) Have a WONDERFUL trip!!

Beats me. I don't understand the logic either. When we went in Nov, they wouldn't let my mom have both of the rooms in her name, but instead said they 'linked' the two ressies. And they didn't even bother to tell her this when she made them--WTG Disney! They had no problem with her booking both of them, or paying for both of them, but wouldn't let her name be on both of them. We'd checked in before the rooms were ready and when we called back to get the room number, they wouldn't even give them both to her--just the one she was in. She was NOT too happy.:sad2:
