I can't believe they are cancelling the Grand Aventurs in Cooking at the Grand Floridian. Does anyone know why or if they are going to replace it with something else.

They also cancelled the Nestle thing at Epcot. I was so looking forward to them for the grandkids in 2010. :sad1:

I heard about the Nestle thing, but where'd you hear they are cancelling the Grand Adventures in Cooking at the GF?? I just booked it for my DD for a July trip. :) I think that's wrong info.

That is a very popular kids activity at the GF and it fills up quickly - it can be tough to get in. I can't see them cancelling that unless they will be replacing it with something even better.

They've cancelled the cooking adventure and the fishing trips, as well as the Nestle thing. I think it's a real bummer:sad2:

This was in the Allearsnet.com newsletter:
Several special activities for children will be discontinued in the coming weeks:

-- Junior Fishing Excursions at Old Key West, Saratoga Springs and Downtown Disney will no longer be offered as of June 1, 2008.
-- Junior Fishing Excursions at the Contemporary and Polynesian Resorts will end May 1, 2008.
-- Grand Adventures in Cooking at the Grand Floridian will no longer be offered as of September 27, 2008.

So... you're still good for your booking

Wow:sad2: ....I am really surprised & disappointed..we've done it many times and it's always been booked solid and they've even had a waiting list. :guilty: I bet they will have something even more fun for kids along the same lines. That just seems so wrong that they'd get rid of it....as a matter of fact, my kids have done all the GF kids activities and this one was their FAVORITE....

I am going to email them and find out for sure....maybe that's wrong info....(hoping:wizard: )

that is sad...my kids did the cooking class in december this past year and had a blast! I hope they do replace it with something...it will be interesting to see what they come up with!!:)

Well, I just got an email response.:guilty: I was wrong....the OP is correct it is being cancelled in Sept. :sad2: Such a bummer! I just couldn't believe it. They didn't say anything else was taking it's place, but hoping they do come up with something fun.

:wizard:

What is/was the "Nestle thing"?

No, althought that's also gone.

Grand Adventures in Cooking was a children's activity run at the Grand Floridian. It costs about $30 and lasted around 2 hours. The kids got the most adorable chef hats with Mickey ears and made aprons with their handprints. They get to bake a little something (mine always made cookies) and then they did a parade to the GF lobby and handed out their wares!

I'm so glad I found out this was ended. I made ADRs for the Albatross Cruise and Wonderland Tea Party for July, and the girls are doing a "my first facial and manicure/pedicures" at the GF spa so I originally told the kids I would wait until our February trip for them to do GAC again!

Luckily I read this post and this morning I was able to book GAC for our last day of our July/August trip. At least they get to do it one more time.

Phew, I'm glad I booked them for August so they'll at least get to do it once. I hope they have something great to replace it!

Not bothered by this I thought it was a waste of time and money, while my boys loved the pirate cruise they found this dull. We can always cook at home.

I would like to know this also. I am going to try and post something on the GF thread and see if I can find out any info.

Wow, I am so sad to hear that Grand Adventures in Cooking is ending. My DS took the class last May and had so much fun. The class was booked solid. I do hope they are going to offer other classes for kids.
