toll free number available yet??

I have had that song stuck in my head for the past few days...you're not helping.

You know, I just have to laugh at everyone always looking for a toll-free number, and once they get one being surprised or bummed when Disney shuts it down.

Quite honestly, I think its pretty smart of Disney NOT to have a toll-free number available to the general public. Disney doesn't want to foot the bill for people who constantly call to change this, tweak that, look for a code, change their resort, etc.

There's a reason WDW doesn't publish these numbers to the general public...they're not intended for use by the general public.

It amazes me how many people on these boards will draw and quarter anyone they think is breaking a Disney "rule" but barely a peep is made over people sharing the toll free numbers, that they're not supposed to even know about.

I wonder why it's not ok to post codes that are not public codes on the boards but it's o.k. to post phone numbers that are not public?

Well,as someone who has no unlimited long distance plan on their land line and a strictly "Mom I'm pulling out of the MK parking lot and I'll be home in less than 2 hours" 5 dollar a month, pay as you go cell phone,I need those toll-free numbers. Disney is a MULTI-billion dollar company;they can afford toll-free numbers for the general public.

Evidently, they can afford not to have toll-free numbers for the general public.

I completely disagree. It is not a requirement, and they do plenty of business without them. Most people have free long distance, and it is probably a large cost to run those numbers.

If not, my advice would be to find a local earmarked Disney specialist. They are everywhere, and are often better than the direct line.

That's how they got to be a multi-billion dollar company, by not blowing thousands upon thousands of dollars on toll-free lines when their resorts and restaurants are fully booked without them. :)

Sure, it'd be lovely if they had a toll-free line. But from a purely business perspective, it'd be foolish of them to spend the money on toll-free lines when they wouldn't bring in any more business.

I wish we could have the "toll free number" thread as a sticky so we don't need to rehash it every 3 days or so. :rotfl:

No offense to anyone.. but most people who can afford to go to Disney can afford the long distance call. Unless you are calling on the first day the public promo comes out..the call will cost you, what, $3? Tops? I don't think Disney is that concerned about it! But, like the others have said..they don't want to pay for us to tweak our ressies, call just "to see how much it would cost" etc!

umm, haven't they heard of voice over IP?

Really? If YOU had voip you could make the toll free call as it'd be in the plan. Disney having it would do nothing at all for making it a toll free call for the person calling them. Disney isn't charging you to call, your phone company is.

If you're calling from really far away (im in canada, usually i spend about 4 bucks total making all arrangements with them from adrs to booking through them by calling long distance) you could get a calling card. I know it'd be pricey from the UK or wherever, but a calling card would make it no more expensive than what most people pay on their cell phones from anywhere in north america, which is relatively little.

There is also now a thing on their website where you can talk to a live person via IMs so you don't really need to phone for much.

Though a Sticky would give you a thread to merge all subsequent questions posted into.
