Connecting Rooms?

We booked as a grand-gathering back in February and requested connecting resort rooms. I know that they can not guarantee that we will have connecting rooms, but do know that our reservations are noted and they will do their best :) My question is this.....Who out there has requested connecting rooms at POR? If so were they able to accomodate your request? If not how close did you end up from the rest of your party? Thanks everyone;) I love the input! :thumbsup2

p.s. There is only 2 rooms on the reservation!

Well, I'm not making any promises but if you booked as a grand gathering, I do believe that you get a little extra magic for your room assignments.

You seem to understand about the non guarantee part of everything and that Disney does their best. What I would do now is to plan the rest of your trip because there's nothing you can do until you check in. If you don't get what you want at that time, ask to be reassigned to different rooms if available. But don't worry about it now.

My understanding is that Handicapped Accessible rooms are blocked off first then Grand Gatherings are next before the general population is placed in a room, so you shouldn't have any problem at least being close.

This was my understanding from talking to a few CM's, too, but with one addition......families booking 2 rooms with the connecting room request where the young children outnumber the adults also get a preferrence over, say, 4 adults requesting connecting rooms. That said.....there's been a ton of debate over this issue and, as you noted, nothing is guarenteed.

We've requested connecting rooms at POR and were granted our request during a busy season and that wasn't in any special circumstance. Last year, at ASSports, where our young kids outnumbered me and dh, we were able to get connecting rooms. That was also a grand gathering and the rest of our party was seperated from us by one room.

I wasn't sure, but that is what I have heard. We have no reason for connecting rooms, since we are only a party of 3 adults, but we do have to have HA rooms so that is where I got my info. We aren't staying at the same resort as the rest of our GG party, for this exact reason, I don't want to be that close.

We have gotten connecting rooms on every trip we've made (see siggy) including a few times at POR. :) I'd say odds are in your favor.
