Ok, I'm a waffler....I need professional help. My DH informed me that if I *really* want to we can stay at the Poly vs. AKL...since planning this trip (which isn't even until SEPT) I've gone WL, POFQ, AKL and now maybe Poly...
I remember it from a LONG time ago when I was a kid. What do you say, AKL or Poly?

You will probably get a bunch of different answers, because it's all personal preference. We like the Poly. We've stayed at AKL once and it just wasn't that exciting to us - the animals were neat and we had a savannah view room, but I just don't feel the need to go back. Others I'm sure feel the exact opposite as I do - have stayed at the Poly and don't care to go back, but are crazy about the AKL. There's pros and cons to both.

One deciding factor *might* be the Poly's access to the monorail and boats to the MK.:confused3 But you pay more for that privilege at the Poly as well!

I think maybe the two of us should start our own support group! :rotfl2: I've changed my mind as often as you have. Does POFQ to WL to Poly to POFQ to AKL to AsMu Suites to POFQ sound familiar? Actually - I think I'm worse than you are!:rolleyes1

Now I'm thinking of changing now from POFQ (again) to AKL (again).

Personally, if I had the money I would definitely stay at the Poly for the whole trip. I was there when I was a little girl too - back in the old days when there were two Disney hotels! I compromised with myself and I have two days of room only booked at the end of our trip just so I could stay there once. :wizard:

If your DH says you can stay there - DO IT!!! Good luck!

Me: Mom :hippie: DS16 :cool1: DS8 :yay:

1975 – offsite; 2007 – POR; 2008 - (Sept) ???? / Poly!!!!!

We feel the same way. We did a spilt trip once and stayed at the PR and AKL..it was our tribal Disney trip. We live in a city with a world class zoo but the AKL was fun for a few days...anything more and we would have asked to move to another resort. While the pool was nice and we had a main savannah room with concierge it lacked a feel we get when we stay at a deluxe with water activiies and other resorts near by. Again you will see it is a mix of personal preference, expectations and "feelings."

I would go with the Polynesian. You will have access to the Resort Monorail or boat when going to the Magic Kingdom, there is the walkway to the TTC when going to Epcot, their rooms were just renovated and the location of the Polynesian is a lot better then the Animal Kingdom Lodge. By staying there you could take the Resort Monorail to visit the Grand Floridian and Contemporary, where as the Animal Kingdom Lodge is basically located away from everything else in WDW because of it's remote area.

We did it... switched to the Poly :lol I'm nuts. It's official.

I've seen you posting this dilemma on a couple of different threads.;)

Congratulations on making the switch! I think with 2 kids, having the monorail at your disposal will be awesome! :thumbsup2

Good for you, and enjoy! :goodvibes

Congratulations! I went through the same thing before I booked it in March. We'll be at the Poly too 9/2-9/9! :cloud9:

I did the same thing you did! I changed a few times, and ended back where i started. My mistake was chaning my dining around to work where we are staying, now I cant get everything i want there. I wish i would have waited to i was positive where I was staying.. Our trip is only a couple of days, but i cant wait. The location and pool is what changed our mind.
