Just back ... We loved POP !!

For anyone who is unsure of staying in a value resort, POP was great! We are a family of 4 - me, DH, and two 4 y/o DDs.

Check in was smooth -- we were travelling with another family and they gave us ajoining rooms (we didnt' even have to ask for it). I didn't really notice a lot of noise -- Even with the ajoining room.

We packed a collapseable cooler to fill with ice to put bottles of water in so we would have cold water instead of renting a fridge.

Anytime we needed extra towels for the pool, housekeeping brought them right away.

Luggage assistance on our last day was great and efficient.

The food in the food court was good. However, that is where my only complaint is... with the food court checkout ... getting your food was fast, but the checkout lines were sooo long. I think they didnt' have the requirements for the dining plan posted, so here's what would happen ... I got my breakfast platter and orange juice (for adult DDP counter service) ... I get to the checkout and the cashier tells me that I need another drink if I want to use it for CS -- so I have to go grab another drink (holding up the line). Same thing happened to our friends -- he got a sandwich wrap -- gets to the checkout ... and she says that if he wants to use it for CS, then he needs a drink and dessert. So he has to (hold up the line) and go get the drink and dessert. Maybe if it was posted what you needed to get BEFORE you get to the register.

Other than that ... everything was GREAT! My DDs have food allergies and the chefs at POP were WONDERFUL about accommodating them ... they had special Mickey waffles and were told they could have special pizza made for them.

The room was a little small, but we were hardly ever in the room, so it didnt' matter to us. We had enough room for what we needed.

The pools were great and all of the decor was very appealing to my DDs.

We did notice that when we were in the Contemporary, they have much better toilet paper than POP or the parks (noticed this because DH had a bit of a stomach bug while we were there and POP has pretty rough paper).

I would suggest, especially if you have kids, or like to get your coffee in the morning, to ask for a preferred room. We had a preferred and it was a quick zip to the food court or bus stop -- definately worth the $15/day.

The buses were usually pretty quick. We did notice that POP was the last bus stop at all of the parks (with the exception of the busses to the other parks) -- so it seemed like a hike at the end of a long day. But having a bus line that was just for POP was great - no extra stops.

All of the CMs were wonderful and very helpful.

So, I think we are going to plan our next trip to stay at POP again. But maybe throw in a roll of tp from home -- just incase.

If anyone has any other questions about POP, ask away. We were very pleased with our stay there.

Thanks for the good review. We're staying at POP for the 1st time this Sept & are really looking forward to it.

Glad you had a nice trip.. We just got back too! Both of my kids and brother got the stomach bug too.. Hope everyone is feeling better..

Glad you had a great time! :goodvibes We'll be there in 9 days for our second POP stay. We also have booked a preferred room. What section were you in?

Is POP better than the All Stars?

If so, what is better?
I haven't stayed at All Stars, but the only thing I could think would be different is that I think All Stars shares the busses with the other All Star resorts, whereas POP doesn't share a bus. Other than that, I think they would all be pretty much the same.

We were in the 50's on the 4th floor.

Thanks for the response :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Did you like that location? I'm just curious... last year we were in the 60's bottom floor & loved it since it was very convenient; that's the only section I've been in, so I'm just curious about others :goodvibes

The location was fine. We were facing the pool. The kids especially loved running up and down the bowling pin every day.

Thanks for the good report! We are staying there for the first time in May, and I can't wait!

Pop is larger than All Star so the pools and especially the dining hall can be more crowded and LOUD. All Stars CAN share a bus, but it is not automatic. When the AS do NOT share buses, because there are fewer people in each resort (than Pop), in theory the bus service can move faster. Pop has an indoor lounge and grilled flatbreads at the food court--AS do not.
