Hey Gang

We received the below communication from DCL.

If you are still undecided about booking the podcast cruise I suggest you do so quickly to avoid the Fuel Surcharge Increase.

John

Disney Cruise Line Fuel Surcharge Decision

Due to continually rising fuel prices, Disney Cruise Line® is implementing a fuel surcharge.

The surcharge* is $8 per person, per day for the first two Guests in a stateroom and $3 per day for all other Guests. It is effective for new bookings only made on or after May 28, 2008. Additionally, the surcharge will be capped at $112 each for the first and second Guests in a stateroom and $42 each for all other Guests in the stateroom.

Travel Agents should implement additional procedures to ensure that they disclose the exact amount of the applicable fuel surcharge to Clients before they make a decision to book a Disney Cruise Line vacation.

* U.S. Dollars

This can really add up for a family of 4 in a single cabin. I know there is a cap, but you might as well figure on an approximate 5% increase to your fare because of this surcharge.

You really can't blame Disney for going forward with this. I'm surprised it took them this long to implement it.

Glad my trip is booked!!!:woohoo:

I can't even imagine the gas bills for a cruise ship. Does anyone know how much fuel the Wonder holds?

So does this mean the cruise has to be paid in full before this date to avoid extra charge, I'm a complete Cruise dunse.... but happy at how much DU quoted us for a cruise in September, doesn't quite suck so bad about not being on the Podcast Cruise

as I recall from the great big giant book of rules... if you have the deposit in place, they don't ding ya on the price increase... and if you make adjustments to the booking, so long as the price does not decrease you don't get the ding. So that would mean, you could slap down the deposit for a one person in a cabin at $200 and later when funds are more foot loose and fancy free, you can add a passenger to the room, if there is enough space according to the master escape plan for life boats.

Amazingly enough, my same outfit for straddling fences looks stunning in a life boat... though it requires a different hat.

Hmmm...just found something else WO might be interested in for one of his next adventures:

(or perhaps the rest of us going on the cruise should look into it?)

I think Pete might need one instead of WO. ;) Instead of a Coke machine, maybe a popcorn cart?

Those surcharges really add up! When they were discussed I was thinking a one time fee per cabin, not per person per day.

No, it does not need to be paid in full. Just a deposit paid.
