I walked outside yesterday morning and noticed one of my tulips in the front yard was missing. The leaves were there, but the flower was gone. It had been cut. And they had to walk into the middle of the front yard to get to it. They didn't bother with the one they could reach by walking down the driveway, they went for one in the middle of the row I planted in front of my porch. And I live in the middle of the city, so I know it wasn't a wandering deer, just eating one tulip out of 2 dozen.

I live in Pittsburgh too - in South Side, and I totally feel your pain. We have to be careful about even having packages delivered here because people steal things. Property damage w/cars & graffiti on the walls is a problem too. I can't imagine if I tried to have a potted plant out front what would happen to it. People really are something else...I can't imagine who does things like this. :confused3

People are going crazy,,we need to start beating people in townsquare,in front of everyone,,make them cry, then send them to jail...the country is going nuts

That is so sad. :sad2: I live in a suburb and hope this never happens to me-I planted tulip bulbs when I was pregnant with my three kids and they look forward to watching them grow and bloom.

We live in the suburbs, and someone grabbed a whole section of my daffodils. About a month ago, they also took my poster out of my lawn...guess they didn't like who we were supporting in the presidential election!

What is wrong with people. I find myself saying that more and more often.

My sister was really mad when the same thing happened a few years ago. Further investigation revealed that my nephew cut them on the way to school.
He was 11 and wanted to give them to a girl in his class on her birthday. He had the 11 year old girls all falling for him at school and was pretty impressed with himself. My sister who had been stewing all day didn't now if she should yell at him or hug him.

:sad2: Know exactly how you feel. When I lived in NYC, my dh and I planted tulips in the middle of a small garden out front. One morning we woke to find all the tulip heads snipped off leaving only the stems. I thought it was the "tulip thief" only to find out that later on that our "tulip thief" was a little grey squirrel. It appears they believe the flowers are food so they snip them, ALL OF THEM. Just thought I'd share this bit of info.:dance3:

 This story was just too cute!

Let's pretend that the perpetrator was some clueless but loving little kid, wanting to bring some joy to his mother.

When I was but a wee bairn, me mother found me with muddy feet standing in the middle of her freshly-mopped kitchen floor. "Checkwriter!" she yelled at the top of her lungs, "what do you think you're doing tracking in mud all over my clean floor?!" :scared1:

To which the young Checkwriter replied, voice a'tremble, "Just bringing you these pretty flowers, Mommy." :flower3:

I still use that one to my advantage today, many years later. :rotfl:

Someone stole our gas can from right beside our mower. Serves me right for leaving the liquid gold in plain sight.

The other day I saw a lady walking her dog and after it had done it's "business" she never picked it up. I tried to get her to pick it up but by the time I reached the yard she was gone. I don't poop in your yard, please don't poop in mine!

I've had whole rosebushes yanked right out of my garden. I live way out in the 'burbs. If I ever see anyone with that particular rose (not a common one), they're getting a knock on their door and a foot up their butt.

It was a few days before Christmas about 6 years ago and everything was merry - until Frosty got knifed. That's right folks!!! Frosty the Snowman got knifed!!! We had one of those inflatable giant Frosty yard decorations in our front yard (not something we normally put out but my Dad just had to have it when he saw it in the store) and a car stopped and several "yutes" got out and slashed our Frosty. It was one of the most depressing things to see - a rapidly deflating Frosty at Christmas time. We weren't the only house to have sustained carnage - we later saw several deflated Santa's and Rudolf's. But being a handy person, the next morning I duct taped Frosty to get him back to his previously inflated state and Christmas returned to being mostly merry. And that is why, in my family, it is always referred to as "the Christmas Frosty got knifed".

The university where I work had a lots of evergreen trees stolen every year at Christmas time. Until someone came up with a special spray for the trees that is harmless outside, but when the trees cut down and taken inside they start to smell AWFUL. We rarely have a tree stolen now.

OMG!! I haven't laughed that hard in a while. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I know it's soooooo wrong and not PC, but.....:rotfl2: :rotfl2: It's disturbingly funny! C'mon, you guys laugh about this on a yearly basis now, right? I know I would!

To me, everytime something goes wrong in my life I tend to say "what a great story this one is going to make!" The usual sayings go with it This too shall pass" "Time heals all wounds", etc. Yeah, you're burned at that moment, but in a little time you keep on keepin' on. Remember that there are MORE great people in this world than bad, you just don't know them all yet ;-) This board is a good start though! :)
