? RE: Extendable leg rests on Mac strollers

We love our Macs - Triumph and Techno XLR. My hubby and I are concerned though about the extendable leg rests on the XLR, as our daughter is 44lbs and almost 5 years old. I called Maclaren as the manual is not good at all, and she said that we can use the extendable leg rest even with older children as it won't break.

The leg rests don't seem sturdy to us at all as they are just two, thin pieces of metal under the seat. For those of you who use your leg rests on your Macs, do you do so with older children?

Not sure we want to chance them breaking, but they would come in handy to use at times to adjust the seat.

Any help would be appreciated, Tiger :)

Hmmm...I thought they were meant for infants. We push them in for DS3 when he occasionally uses our Quest since his feet reach the foot rest instead.

Are you saying she's more comfortable with them out? Or you have them out for a younger child and don't want the hassle of switching back and forth?

Me too and that's why I asked. The rep then reminded me that the stroller is good to 65lbs, but I said the leg extenders are very thin and couldn't possibly hold that weight, and again, she assured me they would. We don't want to be guinea pigs with a $400.00 stroller, so they will always stay in when she's in the stroller. Just wanted to see what other Mac users thought about it.

Thanks, Tiger :)

I use it on my techno classic for my 4yr old only when she is sleeping and we don't let her legs hang over the seat.

It's sturdy enough for this? If you don't mind me asking, how much does she weigh? Our daughter is 44lbs.

I didn't want to try it out just in case it broke, but I was thinking of it in case she was napping, as you mentioned.

Thanks, Tiger

I am wondering the same thing. I am thinking about getting a mac and was wondering if my 40 lb daughter would be okay with them up when she is sleeping.

She weighs 36 pounds but she is pure dead weight so it would probably be the equivalent to her. My 7 year old has also been in it an she weighs 45 pounds and we have had no trouble at all w/ it.
