child swap question

Hi All -

We have no trip planned presently, but our next one will likely be with an infant under 1yo and DS (who will be ten-ish at the time).

When using childswap, is it "done" to swap DS and the baby? What I mean is, we all wait in line, when it is our turn to ride, DH takes DS and I wait with the baby. When they are done, we swap the baby and DS, so when I have my turn, DS goes again with me, getting 2 rides?

I am NOT trying to start a war or do something that is unacceptable. We have never used child swap, and the most recent article I can find on allearsnet is from 2002, and it doesn't address this issue. I know this question will come up from DS - can I ride twice, once with mommy and once with daddy - and I want to be able to manage his expectations.

I would like to know the answer as well, my DS is big enough to ride some rides but not my DD.

Older DS will get to ride with each parent so neither has to ride alone. However you don't all enter the line and switch at the exit anymore, with the exception of Star Tours.

Here is my experience from our trip just a few weeks ago.

Baby Swap is offered at the attractions with a height restriction and only if you have a child who dosen't meet the height restriction. The child who dosen't meet the restriction will not be allowed in the ride queue at all. Just approach the CM at the head of the line and tell them you want to baby swap. Have your whole party together when asking for the pass as they won't issue it if they can't verify you have a child who dosen't meet the height restriction.

The CM will give you a "rider switch pass" for the parent riding second. The first party then rides via the standby line or via the FP line if you have them. The rider switch pass is good for up to 3 people to retun and ride that attraction via the fp line anytime that day. So the parent riding second can take the child who isn't tall enough to do someting else while the first party rides and return later to use the RS pass.

What about if there are only 3 of us? My DS wants to ride RNRRC and my DD isn't tall enough to ride. Will she be able to wait at the exit ramp while we ride? Not sure if my DS will ride by himself.

She can wait at the exit but you should know that it is nowhere near the entrrance. You would have to walk her around the other side through the gift shop to where the exit and ride photos are. Then you and DS would have to get in line, go through the preshow and then ride. This can take a long time even with a FP. Depending on the age of your DD this may not be a good situation since your DD will be alone at least 20 minutes maybe more.

There is a chicken exit after the preshow but since she isn't tall enough to ride unfortantely she can't go through any part of the queue at all.

Having been in your situation with my dd's I let my older dd ride alone using a FP, then younger dd and I met her at the exit.

If she's not tall enough to ride how old is she? I'm not sure leaving a young child alone while you ride a ride is a great idea.
