Why isn't VMK closing in updates on Dis?

Ok I was wondering what the policy on Updates of what is happening at Disney is. I am going on the gals only trip in 9 days to Disneyland. I was absent for a few days and popped back in to say sorry been writng letters to VMK trying to help the kids they are so sad.

So one posted why are the kids so sad.

I can understand not wanting us to post all over the boards that is why we have our own forum. But I was wondering why there is nothing on updates at the top of the page.

But I know what ride is getting refurbished.

Saying that everyone knows I am not sure about this. I go to a few threads and never check out what the others are saying.

So how often do the Dis updates get updated. It has been a week and I do not see it?


Majority members do not play VMK on Dis. But I am sure many member would be interest in what is happening. Maybe I am wrong. But Anytime I know kids are hurting I want to help. Does not matter what the event is.

Do I need to send the VMK closing information to teh webmaster?

I don't know.

I think most people blow off VMK because it's called a game. So to most people, it's nothing and people don't think that closing a game could hurt anyone.

Unfortunately, most people don't realize that VMK isn't really a game, but a community. Just like the DIS is a community.

I understand that Aengus and the rest don't want to "flood" the other boards with this issue since we have our own little corner. On the other hand, I do think that it would be okay for him or another Mod to post a little announcement on the News and Rumor board since it is Disney news of all kinds (and include the savevmk headquarters link). It might stimulate a little interest for other Disney fans to help, even if they don't use VMK themselves. I know the EPCOT anniversary folks and the Figment team did polite little announcements to get the word out to Disney fans who don't come to this board. I liked Figment but wasn't attached to him. I still wrote a support letter for them though to help. Not a criticism, guys, just a suggestion.

Yes just a little note that we need disney fans help to find out more information please visit the VMK board. If I did not play VMK and read some of those letters I would be getting Invloved. We have made the news to general population and I would say a good chunk of dis are not even aware.

Can the VMK mods talk to the webmaster and see if anyting can be done

ETA: remember they dont usually permit links to petitions and the like, they have been really wonderful to us already. If nothing else can be done, they have already given us the freedom in our sigs to make a difference

Oh I understand about not linking, just thinking a gentle topic started on the News and Rumor board. To me, this is as important (and a lot more news worthy) than the endless "Disney bought land in Texas, Louisiana, Timbuktoo" rumors that get floated frequently.

Okay, story is now on Disney news but someone may want to fix it. It says "11,000 of 15,000" players. Shouldn't the "15,000" be more like 250,000? It makes it sound like small potatoes as opposed to the average 5,000 playing at any given time.

Well if they got 11,000 letters of how much VMK means and how upset these kids and families are. HAving to read every one. That would not be no small potatoes. Even one to read is heart breaking.

My intent is not to diminish those 11,000. But there is a huge difference between 15,000 players and a quarter of a million. Although, we usually see around 5,000-7,000 online at a given time, not all players play all day every day. So I want to alert whomever to ensure the story reflects truer membership numbers. Granted, many are mules, some have stopped playing but I suspect active members are more than 15,000.

I would believe that there are more than 15,000 players. From the information that Tigger provided last week, I seen numbers of close to 30,000 unique IP's tracked to the home page.

I don't think that number would include those of us that go directly to the log in page. Also, think of all the family members in one house that play that may share the same IP. I don't think that anyone truly has a correct number of exactly how many people play. Including Disney.

I hadn't thought about all this before. Disboards is a haven for Dis fanatics like myself, even if all the users don't play VMK. I would hazard a guess that the people who sign in here are some of the most regular patrons of Disney all together. I'm sure they would be interested in learning what we're all about, if they don't already know. And, I'm sure that they would be just as upset about what's happening as we are.

My point is, I hope Disney is hearing our little community and the sadness felt by thousands of my fellow VMK'ers. But, I'm sure that Disney would feel the impact if it were backed by it's most loyal customers from all walks of life...a lot of them found right here on Disboards. Any way we can get that to happen?
