Let's share horror stories!!

My most memorable one is from Animal Kingdom last april and it involved my then 4yr old daughter.

For the people who are familiar with the area, we were by the jungle trail watching the monkeys play in their enclosure while we were waiting for the rest of our group to meet us.
It was extremely humid that day and my daughter was dying from the heat, so I took her over to the bathroom to let her splash some water from the fountain on her to cool her off. While she was over there, she noticed that there was water bubbling up from what looked like a storm drain almost. The water wasn't dirty or anything and it was coming out a good 2 or 3 inches so I told her that she could get her feet wet and walked over with her.
So she walks over and plays in it for a couple seconds then stands over it and watches the water run across her feet.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, this high pressure jet of water comes shooting up straight into her open eye! It was like if your shower is on full blast and you put it to the single jet of water and spray yourself in the eye.
I have never heard a scream like that in my life and when I think about it, it still gives me chills. She was crying and screaming and so was I because you could hear the pain in her cries...I was bawling my eyes out cause I felt so bad that I couldn't do anything.
The thing that steamed me really bad? There were at least 6 CM's right there that saw what happened and they walked on by and didn't even stop to offer any assistance or see if she was ok!! A fellow mother who was there offered us one of their towels to help dry her off and looked at her eye(she was a nurse). My daughter couldn't open that eye for a good hour and even then, it still stung for hours after.
I went straight to the front office and filed a formal complaint, and they called paramedics to come check her out to make sure she was ok. The paramedics were surprised that more damage hadn't been done and told us to not be surprised when she woke up with a black eye(which she did the next day). While we were in the office with them, they got another call about another kid being injured by the same jet!
It would not have been such an issue for me if at least 1 of those CM's had stopped and showed some concern, but not a single one did! Not to mention there were no signs or warnings ANYWHERE saying that the storm drain fountain had high powered pressured jets that shoot up randomly... I would have kept her away if it had!
It was terrifying to think that she might have been permanently affected because of that.
So anyone with small kids, be careful over there!

We learned early on that if you go in late June/early July to beware the thunderstorms with lightning and how they close down the water parks for a total evacuation:headache: I adjusted our PHP to PH only after the first year when we had to leave not one, but two waterparks for lightning! After that, it was smooth going and has been for over 10 years.:thumbsup2

We went to the Lights Motor Action show for the 1st time in Jan, 06. Normally ds7 doesn't do well with loud noises due to his pdd, but he was looking forward to the show. We were more than 1/2 way up the bleachers. During the part of the show where there is a shoot-out ds7 beleives that he's been shot! He starts frailing around and ends up tumbling HEAD-FIRST down at least 8 rows of bleachers, again HEAD FIRST! THis was not the walking aisle, but where you actually sit. It was terrifying. The entire audience kind of gasped, I think some actually thought it was part of the show. LUckily a kind man was able to catch him and stop his fall entire I could catch up. He did not get seriously hurt but again, like the op, I was totally surprised, annoyed and angry that not one CM came to our aide. Once we got to the bottom of hte bleachers a CM told us where the first aid station us (It's at the very front of hte park). Joe wasn't seriously hurt, just bruised, all over his eye and forehead. I thought about going to file a complaint about the lack of assistance, but he was now in full melt down status and we needed to leave the park asap

I hope the little man made a quick recovery... that would have terrified me!!

I am so surprised at some of the CM's. If I was one, I would be dashing up the bleachers to try to catch him and running to my daughter with something to calm her. Maybe it's just cause i'm a mom??? I don't know:confused3

I'm not sure if there are any CMs on here but if so maybe one can chime in on these. Are they not allowed to help? Liability issues?

I was watching my friends 3 kids at the exit of RnR on friday and the boys were overly hyper and ended up bashing heads. The younger boy got a gusher of a bloody nose and I kid you not, after there was a HUGE puddle of blood on the ground a CM walked up and offered me a couple a tissues! :headache:

I suggested she grab a ROLL of paper towels and she did but I cleaned up the whole mess, there was blood all over the floor still and even though I suggested getting some cleaner, she just walked off. Of course she was terribly helpful in telling me there was a bathroom right outside.

Was completely shocked that they'd leave blood there w/o blocking it off or even calling someone to come clean it up, yk?

It was our departure day and we spent our final morning at MK where my dad took DS (then 3) on BTMRR five or six times. We returned to Pop Century to have lunch in the food court before catching DME to the airport. A wonderful couple offered us their remaining counter service credits because they were leaving also. We ran around and gathered food while DS stood whimpering and crying (we assumed in exhaustion after 8 park days.) The nice couple was just "paying" for our food when DS vomited massively all over himself, the floor and both of our shoes.

The poor couple (likely cursing their generosity) pretty much ran from the carnage while DH waved and hollered our thanks :) I have to compliment the heck out of the WONDERFUL food court staff who immediately helped us clean up enough to get to the bathroom, all the while reassuring me it was no big deal, etc.

I suppose the food court incident was better than the plane incident that followed... It involved not only vomit, but massive amounts of thick diarrhea all over DS, DH and me, followed by an unexpected 3-hour delay at the transfer airport. Ugh.

Oh, that's horrible!!

:lmao: :lmao:

Sorry...had to get it out. I laugh because that is something that I can see DD doing as well and I can see my hubby standing there covered in vomit NOT MOVING!! He's such a wimp, he'd be crying, too!

I hope he recovered quickly, thankfully it didn't happen early on your trip or the whole thing could have been a bust!

I loved the people at the POP food court, that is where we stayed last year and where we will stay this year as well. They're great, my daughter spilled a frozen coke last year and an entire tray of food and within two minutes they had cleaned it all up and given us fresh meals. The sweetest thing was DD was so upset that she had flipped the tray, that she was crying... one of the CM's bent down and gave her a Mickey loopy straw and told her a couple disney jokes to get her smiling again. Everyday after that, they said hi to each other in line. It was so cute:)

Our experience isn't necessarily in the park. We had gone to the Disney Outlet over at Premium. A sign fell off the top of a rack with trading pins on it hitting my DS in the head (he was 6 at the time). He turns to my husband very calmly and says "uh, Dad I think I'm bleeding"...as blood is running down over his eye and dripping on the floor! I turn from way across the store and see my kid with blood all over his face...can you imagine my horror?! Anyway, every CM in the store was on it. Each one took a kid, there were 3 at the time. The oldest was freaking out because he thought his brother was going to bleed to death (he's a drama queen) and the CM with him was trying to calm him. They sent us off with bags full of free stuff (pins, stuffed animals, tattoos, stickers, you name it). When we got back to the AKL we asked the front desk where the nearest hospital was because we didn't know if he needed stitches. They insisted we let them call their in-the-park emergency crew to take a look at it. They arrived within minutes and cleaned DS up nicely. He did not need stitches and all was well (of course that is unitil we got home and he split his head again in the same exact spot).

In the boneyard in AK...my DD11 was playing with DS2 on the playground. On their way to the dinosaur dig, DS tripped and fell. DH was far enough behind to not see what happened. DD comes screaming holding DS, whose lip is bleeding profusely and his face is covered with blood. DD cannot calm down to explain to DH what happened. CM approaches and must have been very worried by all the commotion and calls the emergency medics even though we are sure that it is probably nothing major. Just to be sure he states. Several medics show up with gurney for a cut lip that has stopped bleeding by then and a few wipes had cleaned up the blood. (I guess once the medics are called they have to follow up.) DH and I were mortified. At this point, so is DD11. One CM sees her distress and tries to lighten the mood; he ends up giving her one of his pins. Then this CM leaves and comes back with ice cream for the family. We were still so embarrassed but it sure helped DD start to feel the magic again!!!

All I can say is OMG!!! Are you sure your not making that up?? :goodvibes Its to bad to be true!.... but I guess anything and everything can happen with kids!

I can most definitely imagine the horror... my heart would have been in my throat! That must have hurt for a while...poor little trooper:hug:

I know once we got to the main office, they were on top of everything, they were great. The thing I noticed was the attention they gave my daughter, it made her practically forget that she couldn't open her eye!

It's great that they did that though! It isn't hard for them to do at all. A little kindness here and there keeps the Disney Spirit going, in my opinion:hug:

The last fair that we took my DD was the Big E in Springfield MA and there was a little girl who was playing a game next to us and she lost, then as she walked away she tripped in a pothole, feel and scraped her knee and started to cry.:sad2:

My DD5 ran over to her, helped her up, then ran back to our wagon where she was storing all of her stuffed animals from the day and picked out a HUGE blue dolphin of which she had 2. She looks up and me and I said "it's your dolphin, you can do what you want with it". She immediately ran over to the little girl and gave her the dolphin saying "I want you to have this, that way, our dolphins can be twins" Her mother was crying and hugged my daughter saying she was a little angel:angel:

That is the kind of spirit that I want my daughter to have:) That's the kind of spirit I think CM's should have:)

This made me laugh because I have so BTDT :lmao: Not at all funny at the time but later what else can you do but laugh. I had my oldest DD throw up all over the post office floor once and a male customer was nice enough to help me clean up saying it was no big deal he had kids of his own while the staff just stared at me like I made DD do it on purpose. Then there was a discount grocery shopping trip when DD#2 throws up all over me and herself and I can't get out of the #$%@$^^ store because all the registers are closed off except for the one that was checking people out and it had a line. I finally get to the car to clean her up a bit and change her clothes but I had to drive myself home with my vomit smelling shirt trying not to blow myself

How sweet is your DD  :flower3:  That story brought a tear to my eye. I can only hope my DD's can grow to be that compassionate. DD#1 does like to help others but I'm not sure she could bring herself to part with a toy on a whim like that. It takes lots of prodding on my part to get her to donate toys that she doesn't play with anymore but we are getting there.

oh my....I just cried a bit too over the dolphin sharing story..........thanx for sharing:goodvibes

I was tearing up afterwards and gave her a huge hug and kisses, telling her "you are the best daughter in the world!".

Then...*sigh*...she pushed me away and said "Mom! Don't kiss me where everyone can you! It's gross." with that all-knowing look that little girls can get:snooty: So what did I do? I attacked her with kisses and purposely slobbered all over her face...:rotfl2:

It's a good thing it was a dolphin, though...lol If it was a kitty? That little girl would have been SOL, cause my DD is crazy for kitties:rotfl2:

This didn't happen at Disney, but at Busch Gardens, when I was a teenager. My family and I were on some sort of ride that spins around and goes up and down. My brother and I were in one car, and he thought the CM told him to shut a bar that held you in. However, my finger was in the way, and it got sliced open. I waved down a CM, and they could see that I was bleeding all over the place. They got me off the ride, and muttered and pointed in the direction of the first aid. My parents didn't realize what had happened, and they were still on the ride. They looked very confused to see me standing outside the ride. After pointing in the direction of the first aid, the CM never paid anymore attention to me. Several people walking by saw that I was bleeding everywhere, and one nice lady told me that I needed to keep my finger up, and not down so the bleeding would stop. I tried finding the first aid in the direction the CM pointed, but I didn't see it, and didn't want to get too far from my parents.
I ended up with several stitches and still have a lovely scar to show for it. We did get some free passes to come back on another day, but my Dad had to argue with someone to get that!

This was our first trip to Disney - my kids were 18 months, 2 1/2 and 5. We were staying at the Grand Floridian and playing in the round baby pool. My middle child slipped on the pool floor and hit the back of his head on the side of the baby pool. BLOOD everywhere! We ended up taking him back to the hotel room to clean him up. A CM had seen what happened and followed up with us about 5 minutes later. He looked at the cut and called the ambulance. We ended up going to the closest ER (Celebration Hospital?), waiting for what seemed like 6 hours, and my son got 5 stitches in his head.
We had to take a cab back to the GF.

The next day, the hotel manager and one of his helpers stopped by to check on my son and to drop off a small stuffed Dalmation. I'm sure he was also there to check on us to see if we were feeling litigious!

My son still has the scar and the Dalmation. And this is also his first memory of Disney!
