We are landing at MCO tomorrow, Thursday 7:20pm. We have been advised to take a cab b/c DME could turn into a 3 hour event - but I do not want to spend $60 plus tip to get to the Caribbean - sound about the right cost?

do you think this will be a reasonbale hour to take DME and have the "normal" 75 minute ride?

we plan to pick up our luggage first b/c we want to get our daughter to bed resonably early. so we might not get to the DME check-in until 8:15.
What time would you guess we will arrive at the Caribbean?

thanks

You've got the approximate correct cost for a taxi.

As much as I dislike ME (I prefer to have a car) I wouldn't worry about it turning into a 3 hour tour.

I've never arrived at Orlando in the evening but I can't imagine that DME, at that time, would take 3 hours! It's not really a busy time for arrivals. Who told you that?

I would DEFINITELY get my own luggage though. It could take up to or over three hours for your luggage to arrive at the room; so you'd be better off grabbing it yourself.

The longest I have ever had with DME is a 90 min trip.....I was the last of three stops and there were a ton of guests at each of the first two stops who had to get a ton of luggage out from under the bus, which added to the length of time.
Normally, it takes an average of 70 mins from deplaning to resort checkin. But, in your case you will have to add some time to that if you are planning on grabbing your checked bags first.
So..if you arrive at MCO at 7:20, you should be at DME checkin by before 8, depending on how long it takes your bags to come out. You 'should' be at your resort by 9ish.
One word of advice though. I realize you are going to pick up your own luggage. But airlines do misdirect luggage every day. I would suggest you pack anything you will need for that first evening in a carryon bag...just to be on the safe side. I always to...that way I can allow DME to take my luggage, I get to the resort sooner, I don't have to tip the bus driver, and I don't have to wait for my bags to get to me before I get settled in for the night.

Why not pack what you need for the night in your carry-on and let DME worry about the rest of your luggage?
