Minivan Rental Rates for Jan?

Just wondering what kind of rates you have gotten on a weekly rental. I have found a SUV for around $225 but I am not sure that it will hold all 6 of us. Do the SUVs all have 3rd row seating? If so, I think I'll just go with one of those instead of the minivan. They look to be priced considerably($200) more. Maybe I'm looking to early. Do specials usually come out later? This is our first time with a rental and I have no clue what to expect or look for . Please help!!

No, all SUV's don't have 3rd row seating. When we were looking at a minivan or SUV to seat 6, only the Premium SUV (Dodge Durange) seated at least 6. I think most SUV's (intermediate, full-size, etc.) only hold 5.

Rates may come down closer to the time, but the minivan cost will always be significantly higher - it is crazy.

We went last October and rented an SUV for the five of us, it had 3 rows of seats, it was a Chrysler Pacifica that we rented through Alamo, we requested the Chevy - midsize SUV.

We are going again in Jan/Feb and are looking at rates too.

I just looked up my dates in Jan. and it was $400 a week without a code.

I just booked a minivan from thrifty for $169/wk for the beginning of Feb 09, I put in my dates for Feb 7 - 18 and my rate went up to 325/week. So I split it into two reservations and it can up as $169/week again. Try it if your going longer than a week.

We would need the van Jan 23rd at 10:00 and return it Jan 29th at 4:00.

Wow-you are right-if you rent and return at MCO the rate is over $400 for your dates.
I guess our difference is we are renting in Tampa and dropping at MCO-huge difference!

Perhaps I should start looking at airfare into Tampa as well! Thanks for checking- I thought I was doing something wrong.

We're in Ontario and the flights into Tampa are cheaper for us-We fly into Tampa and home from MCO. The flights and the rental cars seem to work out well for us and it's just over an hour to WDW.
