Is Disney Visa card worth it?

We are planning a trip Oct 20-24 2008 (m-f) & I keep reading about the discounts/special offers ppl get w/this card. I have booked our trip through AAA and put down our 200 dollar deposit. I wouldn't be using this card for the 'points' so to speak, but, more the discounts and notices. Would if benefit me to get it?

princess: We have the Disney Visa and I use it for all my purchases. Since our last WDW trip in Sept 2005, we have racked up over 800 points. ( I really do use it for everything!) It will go toward our BC bill. It feels like money in the bank- or a nice little savings account.:woohoo:

How does the Disney Visa work? We've been thinking about getting one for quite some time, but I'm not sure if it would be a good choice for us or not. Do you get resort, dining, and ticket discounts with a Disney Visa?

I would think if you use it wisely -ie. not mess up your credit with it- you can always cancel it if it's not for you. There are some perks like discounts to the disney store and advance purchses on videos, but we keep it entirely for the points

I use it for the "points" but you have to pay it off each month or those "points" aren't for free.

I got my Disney rewards visa strictly to use for my home business, and I've only racked up about 30 points by the time we go to WDW in April. But I know one of the perks is a free stroller rental each day, if you have little ones that would save a ton of money.

I've used it for the room discounts on occasion. I've also used it for discounts on disneyshopping.com, and World of Disney store. I don't use it for rewards as I have better cards for that, but I keep it for the other perks.

Quite frankly, its only worth it if its your only card and you use it for EVERYTHING. The points don't pile on quickly.

We use our for gas & groceries and we are able to rack up a few hundred points in a year and that's our spending money for souvenirs at Disney!!

We use it for everything and pay it off each month. We just used it for a down payment on a van, so got quite a few points out of that. We figure between October 2007 and December 2009 we'll have enough points for three Disneyland tickets and maybe a character breakfast or so. Last time, we saved for 3 years and had enough to pay tickets and food at Disneyworld for 10 days! We love it, but like others said, it's only worth it if you use it a lot and can pay it off.

You get a free stroller rental? I didn't know that. How does that work?

Isn't that only at DisneyLAND, not WDW?

I've had the Disney Visa for years, and the only perk I've ever used is the free photo opportunity at Epcot. You can get a private photo session with Mickey & Friends, and you get a free 5X7 of it. They'll also put those pictures on your photopass, if you plan on buying it.

The discounts they've offered have been few and far in-between, and never on something I'd use.

The reward dollars are nothing special (1% on everything). I'm not even using my Disney Visa right now, I've got an Amex giving me 3% on everything for a year and a different Visa that gives 5% on gas, groceries and drug store purchases. There's better reward offers out there.

However, I will say it's the cutest credit card I have ;)

We got it on Day 1 that it was offered.

We were renovating a house at the time and used it for as much of the home renovations as we could. We ended up with over 1,000 points by the end of that venture.

DH tries to use it for his business trips as much as possible to get the points too.

We at least use it for food in the parks.

We use it on everyday purchases; anything we'd use our debit card for. It's an extra step to pay it off, but heck, I figured, with my debit card I don't earn anything. I keep track of my purchases and pay them off weekly. That way I don't get behind and think that I've got all this money in my bank account. I told DH that I REFUSE for it to be like any of our other CC's. IT WILL be paid off each month and we WILL NOT EVER pay the finance charge. It was a good sell to him. :)

I think the stroller rental is only at DL not WDW. We get the free 5x7 but the last several years the wait was 45-60 min. not worth it, so we passed. We went in September too! The double points they offer (3 xs since the beginning) are a joke, nothing qualifies. We only have $300.00 saved up this year and we charge everything! I have heard others complain about the interest rate, ours is at 14% but we have never kept a balance on it. We haven't used the 6 months free financing on the WDW packages either, but it is offered.
Personally, I think there are better rewards cards to have.
