does anyone know how much their cost? We are taking our 15month old son with us and I thought that it would be better to do some laundry then to pack clothes for 8 days. What do you think? I'm I crazy for doing laundry at the happiest place on earth?:confused3

We do laundry several times each trip. There are 4 in our family and we stay 15 days during the summer.

The washers and dryers are each $2.00. I believe that it's $1.00 each for a single use powder detergent and a dryer sheet.

I bring dryer sheets in a baggie and make up a baggie with powder detergent and Clorox2. I also bring a small travel size bottle with Dawn for treating stains.

I plan on a "hotel day" in the middle of our trip. DH and the kids can play in the pool while I run a load of clothes. Then we will head to DTD for dinner.

We usually bring clothes for the whole trip, but one time we didn't...I was sort of annoyed to have to monitor the wash/dry and wait around for it.

So if you are on the go go go, it might not be good. If you are often going to spend time at the hotel and don't mind the waiting, then go for it.

We put our laundry on and spend the time at the pool. We're there anyway. What resort are you staying at?

I put in a load of clothes and we play at the pool. To wash and dry one load is $4 ($2/$2). A tip. I found travel packs of Tide at Target (the size of wet-wipe like you get in a resturant) and they come 3 to a pack. Found them in the travel toiletrie section. They are intended for sink washing, but they were perfect for the machine. They pack easy and there is no worry about mess. I also just throw a few dryer sheets in my suitcase to use too (and then all my clothes smell nice too when we unpack).

We were there a few weeks ago and stayed at Pop. I got up early and ran down to throw clothes in the washer, went back to shower and when I went back down my clothes were done. I opted (foolishly) to hang the wet clothes in the room for the day thinking they would dry. Didn't work! The next morning I had to do the same thing but with the dryer instead of the washer. I think it was about $2 for washer and $2 for dryer. I bought Tide in individual travel size packs. Worked out great for us.

thank you everyone for you answers I think that we will do our laundry. It sounds better then take clothes for 9 days with us.

Will the hotels do your laundry? I know that hotels will do your laundry or dry cleaning, but it costs about as much as a small child, but IS it offered?? At POR or ASMo??

I, too, do laundry while we're at the pool. I just found packets of liquid Tide at Target, in the travel products. Each packet is for one load of laundry! By doing laundry mid-trip, it cuts down on the amount of clothes I pack (and helps with the luggage weight restrictions)!

Through out the year I check different MFG and freebie websites, send away for samples. There is always some company sending one use packets of laundry soap. Some times you can find dryer sheets or liquid fabric softener too. I keep them all in a gallon bag and pull out what I need for the trip.

The laundry is located right by the pools, so I do mine while the kids swim. I throw it in, get a big fruity drink and a magazine and get it done while they have fun.

I am planning on running a load on our "off" day. Seriously, I don't have 10 pairs of shorts! (I am suffering from shorts trauma, I don't want mom shorts and you don't want me wearing hoochie shorts, :scared1: so right now I only own two pair, I'm working on it!) We're dropping enough $$ for this trip that we just can't supplement up everyone's wardrobe to 10 complete clothing changes. And certainly not when it would only cost $4 just to run a load mid-trip.

Our t-shirts I am going to have to hand-wash and hang dry. I "made" them all and they've been dyed, and there's a decent chance they could bleed.

Then again, I'm one of those moms who believes that if the kids go swimming every day, that counts as a bath! :thumbsup2

I did a load of laundry daily. It cost 2.00 per load to wash and 2.00 per run trough the dryer. I found that once through the dryer wasn't enough unless you hang them up in the closet to finish drying. I took my own soap and dryer sheets. I had trouble finding more than one washer available at a time and caught someone trying to take my clothes out of the machine once. Keep in mind that if you have a super capacity washer at home the machines at the resorts only hold about half as much! Have a great trip!

Hello Everybody

We will be coming from Australia for our trip in May.

We will be doing our laundry at Contemporary, and plan on bringing detergent with us - does anyone have experience with which sort of detergent works better in the machines there - powder or liquid? Can you only use one type because of the dispenser?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Thanks!!:) :thumbsup2

I bring my own detergent and bounce...don't forget quarters. I took a roll down and end up spending $14 or $16 total on my laundry. We were there for 9 days.
I took powder laundry soap and had no problem.

Do you really wear a new pair of shorts each day?

It depends on which one of us you're talking about. I don't need to. The kids are another matter, they get dirty and you can't figure out how since they weren't around any dirt. :confused3 And one of 'em can't eat without wearing at least part of the meal. DH has one specific pair of shorts that he will wear over and over until they can pretty much stand by themselves. Ewww.

So I guess my plan is to pack as many as we have, and see how far that gets us.
