Hi,

We have a trip planned 2/23- 2/29. We are staying at Pop Century. My husband and I are big water drinkers. I don't want to weigh down the suitcases by packing them. I thought about packing a box up with water bottles and snacks for breakfast and nights. Has anyone done this? Any information on it?

The other popular thing is to order something from Staples website. You can get cases of water and certain snacks delivered to your hotel. That might help you out as well.

If you ship water and snacks down UPS do they put it in your room or hold it at the front desk? We will be staying at the POP in July and I would like to ship water. I don't want to have to pay a $12.00 delivery charge on top of the higher price of the water if it is cheaper to send it from home. That was the cost I believe to have stuff delviered from garden grocer.

thanks for any help.

Hi Neighbor :wave2:, we're in Kent. We have been looking at wegoshop.com. I looks like they will actually shop at the store of your choice. (sams club, bjs club, walmart, etc.) I think we are going to get our water, pop, snacks and such from sams club and let them do the shopping.

Hello Neighbor also - I'm in Twinsburg.

I shipped a box of stuff a couple of years ago and it worked great. The box was at the front desk for me when we arrived.

I had originally planned on shipping ahead of time but I think we may want some perishables, so we started looking at the delivery service. We aren't going until November so I still have some time to decide.

Thanks to all for the information. I didn't know I was so close to other DIS people. We will be at WDW July 12-19. We can not wait.:cool1:

Our package was waiting for us at the reservation desk when we checked into the CBR. My son has food allergies and we packed a lot of breakfast foods as well.:goodvibes

i think shipping your water via ups or usps would be very expensive...i would order from staples and have it delivered to the room. delivery is free for teachers. our last trip we did ship a package to the hotel of diapers, wipes, snacks, lysol wipes, princess costumes. it was brought to our room upon check in. i think that cost like 25$ so water would be a lot more to ship.:flower3:

We actually do both, we ship a box of snacks, costumes, a gift pack for each kid, etc. to the resort. We also order water, juice boxes, diapers, etc. from garden grocer. It works great for us! The hotel will bring your luggage, boxes shipped from home and groceries right to your room once you check in.

I do this every single trip. Not snacks - but toiletries, etc etc. Less to take down whren I fly - and I dont want to have to check luggage at the airport.

They hold it at the Front Desk, until you check in - and give it to you when you do. It works out really well.

MAKE SURE you ship UPS (only carrier to go directly to each resort) and put a big ol sticker on it:

PLEASE HOLD FOR MICKEY MOUSE
CHECKING IN 2.20.2008
RESERVATION # 123456789

Send it TO YOU - in care of the resort:

Works out well, I love doing it. Then I save that box, and mail back dirty clothes for more room for souveniers. Just toss a roll of packing tape in your supply box!! :thumbsup2

I have shipped water from Staples and Costco. Just be sure to give yourself enough time to order ahead. Last year, I arrived two days before my water did.

My DH and I also are big water drinkers. We spoke with the nice folks over at Garden Grocer and they have a terrific website you can order all kinds of items from and they will deliver it to your resort. I think the delivery charge is $12.00. You can even order liquor, you just have to fax them your ID so they know they are not sending any liquor over to someone who is underage. Their prices were comparable to the supermarket maybe a little higher, but I've heard good things about them. :goodvibes

If you are sending down water, and snack stuff have you ever considered Garden Grocer? You order your items online and they deliver to your hotel that day you arrive. You can have just about anything delivered. You may want to check out their site before shipping costs it may be cheaper.

Do any of these deliver beer? I checked the garden grocer website and typed on alcohol and it said none found.

The only problem I had with using a grocery delivery service was their minimum charge of $40. Add that to the delivery charge of about $12. you're looking at over $50 in groceries! Since there was only 2 of us, we had a LOT left over at the end of the week.

For my next trip with my mom Im just going to ship a box from my work with mini bottles of water & mini cans of soda in it to help us save a few bucks on that stuff in the parks. I can pay for it when they get the bill at work. I think this will work better for us.

On my last trip in Sept with DH, the only water we could get using the delivery service was sports sized bottles. They were icky warm within 1 hr of being in the park. I'd rather have the the little hand sized ones. And the mini cokes are perfect for our room.

Hey there - I was curious about the UPS comment. I called WDW and they said they'd never heard that and confirmed that UPS/FedEx/USPS all deliver to the resorts.

We're a FedEx family, so that's all we use, and we've never had a problem.

Ive never had any problems with UPS - but this was brought up in a previous thread and it was confirmed that only UPS went DIRECTLY to each resort.

Imm not saying FEDEX / USPS wont eventually get there - but UPS was said to be the one that goes *directly* to resort.

Use whatever you want - but Im sticking with UPS. ;)

Do you know what thread it was? And confirmed by whom? That makes me curious. At best, it sounds like a weird semantics thing... At worst, well, I don't want to go there.

Also, as for "eventually", Fedex will get there by their guarantee, just like UPS!
