Has anybody ever bought the $6.95 grab-bag at Mickey's Market in Downtown Disney? Is it worth it? I'm always tempted, but the last time I bought a grab bag I was maybe 10 and was in "South of the Border" (anybody ever been to that tourist trap?) and got a ceramic skunk with baby ceramic skunks! So since then I've been leery of grab-bags!

159 views and no replies???? NO ONE has ever bought a grab-bag there??? Heck, they must all be sitting there since Walt himself packed 'em!

LOL. If Walt packed them himself, I wouldn't sdvise buying them;)

I can't answer your question, but didn't wqant to view w/o leaving a reply. Hope someone knows the answer for you

No answer, as we haven't been to WDW yet, but I had to laugh at your mention of South of the Border. We lived in SC for 5 years (between Columbia and Florence), and I dreaded all those trips up N I95 because all of the advertising signs for it. Oh, and finally passing by it was almost, almost, a letdown--all that hype, and for what? lol

For anyone familiar with South Dakota, it's like driving on I90 and seeing all those signs for Wall Drug ... :lmao:

we love them
We buy them everytime we go.
in the past these items have been in them
note pads
stickers
Magnets
Autograph book
pens/pencils
small toys etc.

I've always been tempted to buy them too, but I've been afraid of what I'd get.

LOVE your ceramic skunk story!

Dh bought one last year. There were some toy cars, Disney 50th anniversary stuff and a tinkerbell to hang in his car. He was really happy with the stuff.

Sorry, we've never been to DTD, but I just have to say:

I was maybe 10 and got a ceramic skunk with baby ceramic skunks! So since then I've been leery of grab-bags!

I think the funniest is the fact that you got BABY ceramic skunks! :lmao:

I think everyone has been burned as a child by the old "grab bag" o' #@%! scheme. Glad to hear others have had pleasant experiences with Mickey's version!

We have bought quite a few of them, but we have rarely found them worth the price. Mostly a bunch of junk items they want to get rid of. The problem is, once you open it, you are stuck with it. My DS4 got one last September and there was a bunch of princess stuff that he didn't want. Poor kid!:sad1:

that sucks they should have one for boys and girls

We get them, what we don't want is passed on to others. We've gotten the car, stationary, antenna balls, pens. It's worth a try.

My DF bought one last trip and he got:

A pink minnie cup with lid and sippie straw (pretty cute actually)
A windup stitch toy
A lanyard anchor thing (the giant pins tht hang on the end of lanyards) that was a mickey head with the american flag inside it.
A pink journal pad thing

Thanks for the replies. I had assumed it was one item in the bag, one that would normally sell for more than $7, but that they had left over and wanted to get rid of. From what I'm reading, it's a close call if the bag is really worth the $7. Now, those 4 for $10 items are usually a bargain, though.

I always buy these. I like the idea of the "surprise" and I use what I don't want for Easter Baskets, stocking stuffers, etc. Other things I pass off to my friend who is a travel agent who likes to give little things to her clients before a trip. You usually get 4-5 items per bag.

The first one I got had

1- autograph book (the kind with the photo pages)
1- antenna ball
1- princess jewels shaped like a crown
1 - stitch wind-up toy

When I was at DTD Feb 7-11, 2008, they didn't have any grab bags. I was kind of bummed.

I love them!

Last time we bought two, and it was a big treat for our 4 year old daughter.

We received in the two:
- lined magnetic notepad (normally $6 or 8)
- stickers
- princess autograph book that holds pics (normally $12 or 14)
- small deck of mickey-head shaped playing cards
- iron on patch
- pack of post-it notes
- small marker set
- a few more things i can't remember

So, they are definitely worth more than $7. We were able to give away some of the stuff as teacher gifts when we returned, so it wasn't a complete waste.

I felt like it was a good assortment and it wasn't a let down at all. They were worth the money-- especially the one with the princess autograph book.

I don't think you'll get any skunks. :)

I've never bought the grab bag because after wandering around the store for a while I can see whey everything in there is so cheap - nobody wanted it. I can only imagine that the things they hide in the grab bag are items that they couldn't get rid of even at the reduced prices.

Hey, the neat thing about reading these posts is that I feel like I already BOUGHT a grab bag!! My curiosity is satisfied!
I just saved $7!!!! :rotfl:

my dd13 is seriously addicted to grab bags, and has suprisingly good luck with them!
we got 2 at mickeys mart and ended up with
-princess stickers
-a pink lanyard (no pins of course)
-2 cups, i think one minnie and one nemo
-note pad
-small pack of markers
-little candy cell phone thing

I buy them, and sometimes I keep what I want, and give the rest to co-workers.:thumbsup2
