I'm going NUTS

I leave for an EASTER week trip in about a month. I am trying to plan so that we can make the most of the crowds during that time and will be able to see everything we want. I am a college student, and I am stuck with a roommate who has never been to WDW and thinks it is "for babies". Every time she comes back, if I am reading my UO Guide she laughs! And then her boyfriend also makes fun of me for going to Disney. I am SO sick of it! I just want to plan in peace!!! Some people don't know what they are missing. Does anyone else who doesn't have the excuse of taking their kids ever get harassed by people who think Disney is "for babies"? And what do you tell them??

lol i feel the same way when i go... i go a few times each year and everybody that i kno who HASNT been there make fun of me...
im only 22 and love it..

ppl who have never been to disney dont understand it.. just keep planning and know there are others like you out there

These people were probably never attached to Disney as a child. If you recall, especially in our peer group (I'm 24, so I'll assume I can call us "peers"): you were wither a Disney fan --or-- a WB (Looney Toons) fan. I'm not saying you couldn't like both, but it was one or the other that you loved.

Also, many people fall into "adult life" and completely abandon all of their childhood dreams and beliefs. That is what society tell us to do afterall. These people grow up to be miserable. Little things like Disney will help keep me young, happy, confident, and ambitious!

My thoughts are that if you weren't a huge fan of Disney and had never visited a disney park as a child, you probably won't care too much when you're older. That's just how it works. It's those of us who experienced the magic at a young age who help to keep the magic alive in future generations.

As for these difficult people among the college scene: they haven't realized what life is about yet. They're still living in HS mode where putting others down for things they really don't (and shouldn't) care about makes them feel cool. That's a problem. Most people outgrow it in time... College life is all about learning that most people really don't pay attention to those minute details which your life may have depended on in HS.

I went off on a tangent, but I only mean to explain that you shouldn't let it get you down and you're not alone. If you ever think about doing the College Program, you'll understand just how many young people truly love Disney and want to be a part of it.

So, next time someone says something, simply reply, "You were a Looney Tunes kid, weren't you?" ;-)

I know your pain Cinderelly. I'm older (ok, I'm twice your age) and I experience the same problem with my family. I can't mention Disney around my sister and her family. They went when the kids were young and they still think it's for babies. They rushed from one kid ride to another. They didn't stop to experience the magic but that's how they travel. One year on their way to get on a cruise they stopped at Kennedy Space Center for an hour. For an hour! In their opinion, they saw KSC. My sister even scrapbooked it.

Anyways, my niece who is a senior in HS told me over Christmas that Disney is not cool. She just doesn't know what she's missing even though she was there as a 10 year old.

As the previous poster said HS and college students are sometimes so concerned about being cool that they miss so much. Let it roll off your back.

You might consider going to the library to read or some other spot. Also don't mention it around the room mate. Good luck and you're going to have a marvelous time.
