CBR Worst Case Scenario For Distance From Food Court

If staying at CBR and your room was farthest from the food court, how long of a walk would it be for an average walk?

Really far. People often take the internal busses at CBR to get to the food court & main pool.

Are you aware there's major construction most of this year? I'd stay away from this resort until it's done.

We were there last year and we were in one of the farthest from the food court. We only went there once b/c of it. The day we went it was rainy and humid and we both hurt from a day at the park. It was a nightmare. If you do have a far room use the internal bus. It saves a lot of walking.

The major construction is the pool is closed while they build a new one. If you don't have problems walking from Trinidad South it is about a 10 minute walk.

FAR!!! We stayed there at Trinidad in Feb 07 and let me tell you, it is "over the river and through the woods" seriously...we walked down a path then acrossed the bridge and then down another path...around the pool and FINALLY there. When we stayed at ASMo July 05, we were in the Toy Story building and were used to getting to the food court for a snack at night or coffee in the early AM neither of which were convenient at CBR. Personally, I wouldn't stay there again as it really didn't feel like Disney to me but tons of people LOVE it. With our crew it was much easier to be closer to everything for late at night as well as early AM and not having to walk so far all the time!

I don't know ... I seem to remember it taking longer than 10 minutes. Maybe it was the heat of August, or maybe it was the exhaustion after a day in the parks. But, it seems to me that it took at least 30 minutes to make the round trip on foot.

We stayed last year and it wasnt that bad....with kids....I cant imagine it taking more than 15 minutes, and that is a slooow stroll.

And get this we ENJOYED the walks...the scenery

I guess my family is just CRAZY.

My feeling is its part of the RESORT experience, and your supposed to slow down a bit and enjoy your surroundings. Not roll out of bed into a food court.

Its all about expectations.

The farthest room in Trinidad South is roughly 0.5 miles from Old Port Royale. A very leisurely, un-swift walking pace is 2 miles per hour. That means one mile in 30 minutes, and a half mile in 15 minutes.

So figure a 15 minute walk if you are walking with small kids or older folks, or more like a 10 minute walk for people without mobility issues.

I have to agree with no more than 10 mins. - we've stayed in Barbados and Trinidad and took us no more than maybe 5 - 6 minutes walking a good pace, but we have no problem walking even with kids. So it's totally up to the individual walking how long it may take. If anything, the scenery slows us down to enjoy the walk.

If you are not getting a preferred room, request a room in Jamaica or Aruba (specifically Jamaica 45 or Aruba 51). From there, it is just a short stroll across the lake, through Caribbean Cay (5 minutes tops).

the resort is huge!!
we lucked out and were assigned a room in martinique 25 -even though we did not request or pay for a "preferred room". we are walkers and have two small kids, but i must admit that it was nice to be a few steps from OPR to run down for some milk or fruit. the walk was very do-able for our 1 yr old to the pool, as well, without having to lug our stroller...

After walking the first day, we took our rental car whenever we went to the food court and parked it in the parking lot nearby. Whenever we were leaving the resort by bus, we would leave the car there and use that bus stop, driving back to our room on our return.

We love CBR, but this is a huge resort, and it you are in one of the furthest buildings, it can be taxing. It is a peaceful and relaxing walk, but sometimes no matter how peaceful and relaxing it may be, you just don't feel like walking that far on tired feet! (The internal resort bus comes around, but it can sometimes take a while to get from point a to point b depending on how you catch it.)

Call us crazy too I guess! When they first put us in Trinidad South, I thought after all I read I would seriously be out in the weeds. I decided to take the room and check it out. Glad we did not ask for a different building, cause we really enjoyed the location and walk to OPR. My kids are 5 and 7, and they really loved walking everyday, checking out the turtles and birds and enjoying the scenery on the way. I swear I saw a bald eagle skimming the water. Amazing.

It is what you make it. A 10-15 minute walk was leisurely and scenic, not a burden for us. Now we were quite aways away from the main building at CSR one time, and I didn't enjoy that walk as much. It seemed more spread out. It was just not my cup of tea.

As for the internal busses. Sometimes at night, I was offered rides by park and DTD busses, since we were the last stop. Really great bus drivers.

We have stayed at CBR many times and we drive our car from the room to the food court, eat breakfast, stash the mugs in the car, get on the bus and when we get back pick up the mugs and get a nightcap.

We stay at the CBR every year, including our upcoming trip in March. We always get a preferred location, and try to request Martinque. This year I wasnt so lucky, I got a waterview room, and I keep calling to see if a preferred room opens up. I did request Jamaica or Aruba if I couldnt get the preferred room. I love the layout of this resort.

we were in aruba 56 (i think) and it was at least a 20 minute hike (more when pushing mom's wheelchair) but that was NOTHING compared to the 1+ hour ride on the internal bus (which stopped at custom house and picked up a bunch of new arrivals, some w/luggage, etc) which was a NIGHTMARE!!

unless i booked preferred, i would NOT stay at CBR again!

I did what many others said - when I stayed at CBR, I was placed in Trinidad South, which is somewhat disconnected from the rest of the resort. After walking the parks all day, sometimes those extra 10 plus minutes just to get to the food court, then 10 plus minutes back start to add up! I quit walking by day 3 of my trip, and drove to the food court the rest of the trip. I am in no hurry to stay at moderates anymore because of this - I resent being so removed from everything, where even getting a drink for my mug becomes a half hour event!

And when you see that everyone else has closer rooms than you, it's hard not to feel resentment! I would only stay in a perferred room at CBR, if I were to return.

we tried both ways... across the bridge seemed worse!
