Refillable Mug Basics Questions

Thank you in advance for any help. This is a topic I am clueless about.

I have read some of the past problems surrounding this topic, but I have no clue how the system works as I've never been interested. But for our upcoming trip in March, I'd like to consider it. Here's my questions (And I am only interested in learning the rules, not the tricks or ways to get around the rules):

- You can fill them up at your resort during your stay. Now I hear you can fill them at other resorts. How about the theme parks? Where CAN'T I fill it up?

- What do they cost? Also, I'm assuming you buy them at the resort you're staying at? I'm at the ASMO this trip.

- What types of drinks can you get? I'm curious if I can get anything besides soda. What about coffee or juice? Other?

- Is there anything else I'd need to know?

Again, thank you for any help.

The mugs are $12.

Yes, there is juice, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, frozen cokes (think Slushies but with soda), and some other stuff. These vary by resort.

You purchase them at your resort. Now, the rule is that you are only supposed to use them for that stay, and at your own resort. However, during the Year of a Million Dreams, they have switched all the mugs at all the resorts to look the same, so there is really no way for anyone to tell where you bought it. Except yourself, of course. You cannot fill them at the parks, except for with water from a fountain.

Again, they are $12 and with drinks running basically $2+, it takes a MAX of 6 drinks filled up in your mug to pay for them, plus you get mugs for back home. Well worth it. Even if you are only staying for 4 days or so, 4 hot chocolates when you wake up and 4 cokes when you go to bed would be a minimum of $16.

The only juices you can get are those in the soda vending machine, where you get fountain drinks. No Orange Juice, but you might get apple juice. Maybe fruit punch. Not all resorts have frozen Coke or frozen strawberry. And no milk.

At All Star Music, we had our major "Coke" products: Coke, Diet, Sprite, and Mr. Pibb plus iced tea, lemonade (I think), and Powerade. Our mug could also be filled with water, coffee, hot chocolate, and tea (packets and hot water provided).

As others have mentioned, we were not allowed to fill our mugs with milk or orange juice. Cartons and bottles were available in the cooler for purchase and were not over priced in our opinion (but still disney priced).

Our mug was good at our resort ASmu and could not be filled at the parks. Mugs are good for the length of your stay. We did fill the mug up at other AS resorts on that trip under the impression that since the AS's are "sister" resorts, they share facilities/pools/etc.

The mug was roughly $12 and we always purchase one. If your traveling with a large family and you have budget concerns, buy a few to share. Since it's unlimited refills, there's no harm in making a trip back to refill if it goes quickly. ASmo's layout allows pretty easy access to the food court from any building...

Thanks guys. This was the question I was having. So I can use my mug at the ASMO for the length of my stay. I was confused b/c I'd read that all the mugs were the same now and could be filled at any resort. But really, while the mugs are the same, the rule is still only fill at your own resort.

I only ask b/c I usually make a stop at the Cr and Poly while I'm there and I thought I might be able to refill it a few more times. And I think I heard that the CR doesn't do it anymore b/c of the refurb. I think I'll check it out and see if the mug would be a good souvenier for my daughter, but I won't get it just for the savings b/c I don't think I'll use it that much.

Thanks again.

There is some question as to the acutal "rule" about using your mugs at other resorts now that the mugs are all the same.

Many people on here have posted that CMs have told them they can fill them at other resorts.

Plus, the wording on the mugs themselves was changed. It used to clearly state the mugs were good for refills "at the location purchased" but now say "our resort beverage islands."

These two factors have led some to the conclusion that WDW is fine with the mugs being filled at any WDW resort CS location.

We love our refillable MUG and have gotten great use out of it. Definitely a great investment for many years...

Have a great trip!

Just a note...the wording on the mugs has changed...it now reads something like....''refillable at our resort beverage stations.....". I truly believe that Disney came to the realization that many were changing resorts each trip. I take it to mean that we can refill at any resort on Disney property, during the stay in which the mug was purchased. Bring it back on future trips??? Whole other discussion.

The actual wording is "Free refills available at our Resort Beverage Islands until the end of the stay in which the mug was purchased."

Although the refillable mugs seem to be kinda 'small' inside. So while you pay 2 bucks for a drink in the park, I think you get a decent amount more volume for your 2 bucks then you do on one fill of the refillables..

How big/small are the mugs? Are they 10 oz, 12 oz, 16 oz?
Thanks

I dont know for sure, but it seemes like I never did make it thru a 2 liter of pop when we were down there just a week or so ago. I'm looking at my
16.9 oz water bottle and it MAY have fit in it. They just seemed small to me..

I want to say that the YOAMD mugs being sold now are 12 oz and some of the older Resort logo mugs use to be 16 oz. For example when the Wilderness Lodge was selling their Resort logo mugs they had two versions of it. The 1st one looked just like the YOAMD mugs being sold now and it was 12 oz, then they sold another verison of it which was bigger and it happened to be 16 oz.

Does anyone have a pic of the mug?
Here is a pic of the YOAMD mugs from Allearsnet. At that the time when this picture was taken their cost was $11.99, however their cost has since gone up to $12.49 and these were the mugs which said 2007 so they are from last year.

And you can't use them at Contemporary? So, what do you drink at the Cont.? Like, if we were hanging out at the pool and wanted a drink (soda) what would we get?

I ask because we will be doing a split stay: 3 days at Contemp. and then 4 days at BCV.

Thanks,
JULIE

When we there for our xmas stay(21-28) the mug we purchased held 16oz. Anyway you slice it you save money, especially if you have the kids in tow..:lmao:

You can purchase drinks in bottles at the Tempo Grab & Go, or at the Sundries store.
