September -- Halloween decorations yet?

We are planning our first (hopefully not last, but you never know:confused3 ) trip for September, but our specific dates are not set in stone yet...

I hope it wouldn't offend anyone to say this, but I would really like to be sure we choose dates for our first trip when the Magic Kingdom is simply magical :tink: :mickeyjum! (and not Halloween-ish/fall-ish) and when Wishes is still "Wishes" (not "Hallowishes"), etc.

I'm sure it's lots of fun, but I don't want my kids' forever memories of Disney World to be "that cool Halloween place"... (especially when it will most likely feel hotter than summer at home to them! LOL!) ...Do you know what I mean?

Does anyone have input on when the decorating, etc usually begins?

Thanks sooo much!!!:disrocks:

From what I remember, and you will definitley want to check up on this, Halloween decorations go up mid-September. So if you book your trip for early Sept. you should be okay. I'm not sure if the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party dates are posted yet, but once they are check those to see when the Party is then plan your trip for a week or more before. Good luck!!

I understand you not wanting their first trip to be a Halloween themed one. My friend suggested we come down this past October but I wasn't too excited to. Now that we're planning a regular trip for the end of this month which includes P&PP tickets I'm totally game for a Halloween trip next October.

My friend told me the Halloween parties start mid-September. But I'm not sure if there's Halloween things around the park during non-party hours. That might make a difference for you.

It's been 2 years since I went but I don't remember seeing Halloween things during the day. Some Autumnal stuff maybe. They close the park at the end of the regular day for a little while then reopen it for the Not-so-scary party and the park is totally transformed! My kids where amazed! It's completely different that evening! The weather was fantastic, the crowds were minimal and we got true Disney days and Fabulous Halloween memories that 1 evening. This year, we may do the party 2ce, depends on the budget.

They do not close the park anymore. Regular guests are asked to leave and party goers are given wristbands.

We went in October 06 and to be honest, my kids never noticed anything Halloween until we were actually at MNSSHP (and neither did I until I went back and looked at our pictures and saw the Mickey pumpkin near the Toontown sign!) There were some pumpkins sitting around etc, but they were so into the Disney experience, no one really commented on anything. I'm not sure, but I think they show regular Wishes until closer to Halloween unless you are at MNSSHP?????

We were there September 7-15th, 2006. The first MNSSHP was 9/14 so each day leading up to that we would notice more and more Halloween decorations being put up. I wouldn't say that it was OVERLY Halloweenish though and I mainly noticed at the start of Main Street and the area around the turnstiles. I have some pics but can't find them at the moment. If I find them, I will post them.

What is "bump"?! I keep seeing this and have no idea what it means!!!

The Halloween decorations were definately up in the Mk on 12th Sept last year. It was our last day of our trip and we visited the MK for the last time and we were very surprised to see them up so early. We got some great pics though and brought some cool stuff back for our own Halloween party we have for my son as it is his birthday then

It was mainly in town square we noticed them and down Main Street. The big Mickey flower display just inside the turnstiles was turned into a pumpkin with orange flowers and most lamposts had pumpkins and things hanging from them.

We are going the end of September and I'm excited that we will see Halloween decor. My girls are going to love that. What is the Halloween party that you all are talking about that requires wristbands?

I know this is an "old" thread that I'm kinda reviving, but I have a question for you "seasoned" August/September folks. We are leaving to come back home the day before the first MNSSHP (I know, I know, bad timing. But we have to be back for something DS is committed to). Anyway, I figure that there will be some autumn-type decorations up, but just wanted some confirmation. I would kind of LIKE to see them! Can anybody confirm?

yep. you will see a few. Went last year and the entire week they added more and more and had a good bit up by Thursday (the day before the first party last year) but they did bring more stuff out everyday. You should be able to see some.

The MNSSHP's first date is Sept 5 so the decorations will be up eaely this year. It is not to halloweenish but I love the decorations. Don't forget to decorate your resort window and door for more fun.

What an AWESOME idea!!!! Didn't even think about that--I'm all for it!!! It will be the first time ever that we will be there during that time. I'm SO excited!!! Thanks for the excellent idea!!! :thumbsup2
