First Christmas Trip to Disney 12/07

Friday, December 14th (only one more day of Disney, starting to realize we just can’t do all that we want to do).

We had decided to do Magic Kingdom again today. It was very humid this day, but over cast on and off, so it was bearable, but being 80 degrees in December still was not my idea of comfort!

Once again, we did not make it to the park opening, but we were there shortly thereafter. I think my goals were a little unrealistic in wanting everyone to get to the parks at rope drop to really enjoy all that there is to do.

I wanted to get some photos with the characters, so we headed over to Toon Town. We should of taken the train from Main Street, but we don’t think that far ahead. So instead, we walked by the train.

We went through Mickeys house. I love how even his house was decorated for Christmas.

Then it was off to see Mickey!!!!

After we all got out pics with Mickey, he wanted a picture with just Aubre!!

I really don’t remember what all we did, that’s part of the problem with taking so long to finish a trip report. Every trip I say I’m going to keep notes so I can remember, but I don’t get around to it. We did take the train over to Frontierland.

Of course we rode BTMR. We didn’t ride Splash this trip because some of us got soaked on our last trip and didn’t want to be miserable. Tyler had wanted to do Tom Sawyer Island the past couple times and we just hadn’t gotten around to it. So, since we had no real plan (other than our lunch ADR a little later) we decided to spend a little time on the Island. We always wanted to find one of those paintbrushes (not even sure if they are still do that), but we didn’t this time. After this, we did the Haunted Mansion with no wait and then we were off to Pirates. It’s amazing how short the lines are when you do get there early in the day.

After this, it was time for a break, for ice cream!!! Remember I said that it was very humid, it was hard to keep up with your ice cream as it was melting so fast!

I wanted some pictures of us in front of the castle since it wasn’t real sunny so we wouldn’t be squinting so bad. Needless to say, we all got our pics taken when the photo pass guy wants to take one of JUST AUBRE (see a trend here)! Well guess what pics weren’t on my photo pass card. (were we on this trip)?

We walked over towards the Crystal Palace and got some more photos (these we are in, lol)

We then headed over to the Wilderness Lodge for lunch… Up next, yummy lunch!

great update and pics. I love the border on the last pic. I don't blame you on the SM and being wet, that is annoying the rest of the day.

Your pictures are great! I love the one of all of you with the border. That is such a nice family picture.
I hope that some day we get to have the girls pictures taken with Tink. Last time we were there we didn't slow down much to have photopass pictures taken.

Great update!:)

Love all the pictures!

Thanks so much. I have so many photos that it's hard to decide which ones to actually post. Don't want to bore you with all my pics.
:goodvibes

Scott,
Thanks for sticking around. I loved the Christmas border and printed several of those to scrap. Ditto on the being wet feeling. I do love SM, but don't want to be soaked (but being the heavier one in the boat, I usually get wet no matter where I sit).

Kelly,

I can tell you we didn't use to do all the photos, since they are expensive to buy just a couple, but doing the cd (even at the full price I paid in the summer) was so worth it. We didn't have a lot of pics that time, but by the time you edit them and all, makes for great scrapping.

Well, as I am finally getting to work on my tr today, I wanted to post my news!!!! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

I'm a little excited, can you tell!!!!???

We booked the Disney Cruise for our 25th anniversary in September and we are going to renew our vows on the ship, through Disney Fairy Tale Weddings!!!!! :cloud9:

Unfortunately, it will just be hubby and I (if DD can get a cheap rate for an extra room through being a cm then she might come along!)

Still, I am so excited, even if just us two.

We had a late ADR (2:20 pm) for lunch at the Whispering Canyon Café in the Wilderness Lodge. We love this restaurant and have always had a great meal here. It was the first time for DS1 and DIL though.

We left Magic Kingdom and went to the boat launch to ride the boat to the Wilderness Lodge. We had a short wait before out boat came. This was a quick trip. We have eaten at here a couple of times before, but only arrived via Disney busses through the front/side.

While cruising over to the Wilderness Lodge, we saw a person parasailing.

Arriving in the back, walking by the pool and seeing this place was amazing! Wow, what a nice change.

Then we saw this adorable family!!!!

They were so cute and fuzzy looking!

Then this little guy/girl decided to go for a swim in the pool!!!

We finally made our way into the Wilderness Lodge and what to do we see (can you guess, I show you one every time we go somewhere new)??? Another beautiful tree. Look at the ornaments, just amazing, truly Disney style.

I went to check us in and got our pager thingy! We had a seat on the comfy sofa and waited just a few minutes. Soon our thingy was lighting up and off we were to our table. Do you recall that DD had on that Birthday Button? Well everyone says Happy Birthday to her!!!

Now I won’t post some of the pics, but my kids as usual like to take photos also, I looked at my pics later to see lots of people I didn’t know. They were just taking random photos!!! Wasting my batteries (can’t say my film fortunately).

Now, if you have eaten at the WCC you know that they let you ‘play’ at the table (not like at Prime Time, lol). So here is DS2 making his LONG straw. And the kids taking turns seeing whose drink they could drink from.

DS1 enjoying his milk shake and the kids making their WEIRD faces!!! (DIL isn’t one to make funny/weird faces, she likes to look nice in pics).

They had their typical games and things and we enjoyed a wonderful lunch with way too much food of course. But before we ended, they had to announce Aubre’s birthday and have her ride around the room on the stick horse!!!! Of course my pics didn’t come out to good from that, but it was funny and she didn’t mind one bit!

When we were done lunch we headed out to the boat dock. Well theirs a LONG line for the boat to MK, but there’s a short line for a boat with stops elsewhere, so we got in the short line and decided we’d get off at the Contemporary Resort and then take the monorail to the TTC to get our car.

This was our first time ‘walking around’ the CR and it is of course wonderful. Not my first choice for a place to stay (not Disney looking) but a neat place really. We did see some pretty things here, but really didn’t tour it looking for stuff. We passed this on the way to the monorail and I thought it was really neat looking. What I didn’t know (cause I didn’t stop to read the info is this was made of chocolate!!!!)

We then boarded the monorail to head back to the resort. This is our LAST night in Disney and we decided a trip to DTD was in order. Remember DD still has that 40% discount so we had some shopping to do!!!

Honestly, we didn’t buy a lot, but got a few things that I wanted. I honestly don’t even remember if we ate anywhere or just back at the resort. Soon it was time to head back and start packing up!! I HATE TO PACK UP to go home!! It’s so depressing. We were also taking home a suitcase of DD and leaving her our carry-on so we had some major rearranging to do. Around 10:30 we realized we had to go to DD apartment to get her stuff she was sending home since we would be checking our bags in the morning before heading to the park.

Up next, our last trip to Epcot!!! We’ll be going home soon.

That is so awesome! You have a good reason to be excited! I'd be excited too.:) Have you ever cruised before? I think you'll really like it. We have a parents only cruise coming up soon and I am really looking forward to it. We would love to take DDs on a Disney cruise. Hopefully someday it will happen.
Great update!

Scott,

Thanks so much. We were going to do the land part w/ the cruise, but since DH said we can do the vow renewal, we're going to skip the land part (because we'll be going back again to see DD he said!!!) :goodvibes

We cruised once before, but dh and I were chaperones for a small senior class (so needless to say, it wasn't much in the way of a romantic trip for us).

Ok, LAST DAY!!!! That’s so depressing even just saying it. I hate the thought that it’s the last day. We were all packing up to get our luggage to check in so we could get to the park and enjoy our last day. While we were all getting ready, DS2 was so fortunate enough to get his fingers smashed in the bathroom door. He was leaning on the doorway talking to DH who was in the kitchen area. I went in and closed the bathroom door, never realizing his fingers were between the door and the jam!!! Needless to say, it was not a pretty site! DS2 is crying in pain, DH is certain I broke them and frustrated at the entire event. We take our bags down to get checked in and then off to DD’s apartment. On the way there, DS2 is still crying a bit. DS2 is a skateboarder. He gets lots of bumps and bruises and cuts and never carried on like this. At this point, DH says we’re taking him to the ER. Fortunately there is a medical aid unit right near DD apartment. We drop DD, DS and DIL off at the apartment and we go to spend a couple hours at the medical aid unit. After two hours, $25 (thank God for insurance) and x-rays, they say he didn’t break anything. They didn’t even tape them up or anything. This is what his poor figures looked like.

Looking at them now, boy they look good! Both nails turned completely black (filled with blood under the surface). He got a cut in his pinky and the blood drained out of it (really gross) but this ring finger is still BLACK!!!! It looks bad, but he goes on with life!

Ok, so back we go to pick up the ‘kids’ and off we go to Epcot! Needless to say, it was late when we got there (after noon I think), so first up was lunch at Sunshine Seasons. We got to meet some of DD’s co-workers. I love this place for a counter cause you get sooo much food and it’s all good. I honestly don’t remember if we even rode any rides. We did do some shopping and we were finally going to get to the Disney Visa Photo in Innovations!!! I’ve wanted to do this so many times and never knew were/when etc…

We got in line for the special Disney Visa holders and WAITED and WAITED and waited. It really seemed to be taking a LONG time for the few families that were in front of us. What I didn’t know until we got our turn was that they pretty much let you have all the time you need to get all the shots you want/need. Mickey, Minnie and Goofy were there. You could get your pics taken with one, two or all three! We had three separate Disney Visa’s between us, we we were able to get three free 5x7’s!!! Here are just a couple of the shots, cause they took a LOT…

And because Mickey liked my shirt, I got a photo all by myself!!!

We spent a little more time in Epcot, but soon it was time to take Aubre back to her apartment and head to the airport. I was so sad to leave my Princess this time, after getting to spend almost a week with her was so nice. Aubre loved her time at Disney that she’s planning on going back in early June and hoping she’ll be able to book the cruise to go with us in September!!!

If you have stuck around through all of this, I thank you. I know it took me a while to get this completed. We love Disney and can’t wait to go back!!

the last day is always sad but throw in a trip to a medical center and that is not good.

glad it was not so serious. it wa sa great TR.

the pics were great.

So sorry about your sons fingers. I bet that really hurt. My husband got the tip of his finger caught in a motor driven wood splitter last fall and the black part of his nail just came off a week or so ago.

I know you will enjoy your cruise. DH and I just got back today from our Royal Caribbean cruise. ( I didn't want to post about the date last week when you were telling us about yours because I didn't want to broadcast over the internet that we were going to out of our house for a week.);) We left Monday and got back to Port Canaveral yesterday then stayed with my mother-in-law overnight and flew home today. Cruise ships are so good at taking care of you and Disney is great at taking care of you so you are going to be extra spoiled.:cool1:

I like your pictures from the Disney Visa. Those are so cute. We did that in 2006 but didn't do it this year. We couldn't remember where we were supposed to go to do it and what time it was. Oh well ,just another thing on the to-do list for this fall.:)

I am sorry your report is over. :sad1: I really enjoyed reading it and you had such nice pictures. Thanks for sharing your trip with all of us. We will be expecting a report from the cruise too. ;) :)
