Thanks for the new thread....haven't looked thru it all yet but lots of great info. I think I remebering read another thread of yours about the POly and just loved the pictures.

Here are a couple questions I posted on the last thread and just bumping them in here.

Read on another post about DVD players on the concierge level, are they in the regular rooms too?

Would anyone recommend or think this may work? On the Friday of our stay, we have our 3 older children reserved spots at the Neverland Club (approx time 5:30-8:30 pm) Which leaves DH, DMother, my 18 mo DD and I. Now my DM has her own room/ressie on a pkg including the $15 voucher for PH at DTD. As do we. So as not to put these to waste. We're thinking of going there to eat while the kids are at the NC. I'm thinking we wouldn't have enough time to go, wait for a table (no ADR's for that night, checked already), eat and get back with using the buses. So thinking we'd pay for a taxi. We'll have a carseat for DD (from the plane).

Could that work?

Thanks for any thoughts or comments.

FYI since the op of this now DH and I may re think this plan....but still would like to hear if this can work, to help us better decide what to do. Thanks:disrocks:

I have a question regarding the Handicapped Accessible rooms at the Poly...

Would love to know what the availability is of accessible rooms in categories other than garden view... and building locations for Type One--accessible rooms with grab bars & tub, vs. Type Two--fully wheelchair accessible rooms with the roll in shower.

I am aware of the accessible GV rooms in Rapa Nui & Tokelau. And I have heard that there were plans to convert additional rooms to 'accessible', in Hawaii (club level) and some of the other long houses, beginning in mid-2007. Last year we did stay in a standard GV room in Tahiti, and met a family with multiple wheelchair users who were staying on the first floor of that building--but I honestly don't know if they had an 'accessible' room of one type or the other, or not.

We originally had a Lagoon View room reserved for December, 2008... but needed to switch over to a fully wheelchair accessible room (with roll in shower) to accommodate a family member's specific needs. Since I booked through a TA, we had to have our TA contact Special Reservations and make the changes for us--thus I did not have the opportunity to speak directly with SR myself. A fully accessible room has been blocked for us... but I have no idea what building, or if we have been downgraded to GV (or possibly even pixie dusted with an upgrade).

If anyone has occasion to speak with Special Reservations in regards to the Poly, we would love to know what buildings/views might have been updated to provide additional accessible rooms during 2008.

How thick are the walls? We're not super loud, but on occasion it comes out ;)

Seaspray-- Can you tell me when the pictures of the Club level food area taken? We are going in May and are debating whether or not to upgrade to Club level. We have heard a lot of people say that they don't offer that much food wise. I see there is mac and cheese in one photo. I remember someone saying these types of things weren't available anymore. That it's more of just crackers and small snack items.

Excellent Job!:thumbsup2

You really did a good job with this thread and I'm really impressed on how much work you put into it. Beautiful pictures as usual and just looking at them makes me wish I was there right now.

As far as I know, the DVD players are only in the Concierge/Club Level rooms.

Regarding your plan to go to Planet Hollywood, taking a taxi would probably be the fastest way to get there and back. It's too bad that you couldn't get an ADR because then at least you'd have a definite time-frame to work within.

I don't know too much about the locations of the accessible rooms; the only ones I know for sure are on the garden view side of the Hawaii (concierge) building. Sorry. When I go in May I'll try and find out more. If it were me, I'd call Special Reservations and come right out and ask where the lagoon accessible rooms are located. I wouldn't think there would be many of them, so they should be able to answer that for you.

How thick are the walls? We're not super loud, but on occasion it comes out ;)

Well I've never heard any noise from neighboring rooms, but then again maybe we just had quiet neighbors?? :confused3

The pictures of the mac and cheese were taken in 2005, and I don't think they still serve it, HOWEVER I know for a fact that there are hot dishes each and every night. The pictures of the turkey skewers and scalloped potatoes are from 8 months ago. They do have the cheese and crackers, and veggies and dip, and fresh cut pineapple and caramel sauce every night; Uncrustable peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, hummus and pita bread, and a couple of hot dishes, as well. These foods aren't meant to be a meal replacement although I can definitely see where a small plate of these items could fill someone up. We use them as appetizers before going out to dinner. :)

I think someone had asked about the breakfast items; these don't seem to have changed much over the years. A few different cold cereals and milk, bagels, toast, butter, cream cheese, peanut butter, jelly, croissants, different types of danish, fresh-baked pineapple bread, instant oatmeal, a couple types of juices, whole milk, low-fat milk, coffee, teas. I have pictures of all of the breakfast items in this thread; there's a link to them right in the very first post :)

When I go in May, I'll try and take pictures of the food offerings every night, and I'll post the dates the pictures were taken. I don't mean to mislead anyone with the picture of the mac and cheese! But I thought it was a fair representation of the types of hot food offerings in the evenings at the lounge.

Thank you SOOOO much for this info! It makes planning our trip A LOT easier. :)

Your pictures weren't misleading at all. I was just wanting to know about hot food items in general. I know I've read about lots of people complaining about limited selections in the Club Level now. I didn't know if it was worth it to upgrade for the service. I think your thread is great and I love looking at all the pictures. This will be our first visit to the resort and we can't wait.

MouseScrapper---
OK, I looked at your name wrong and definitely thought Mouse's Crapper. I thought, "WHAT??!!" Then I realized what it really said. I need a vacation!!!!:rotfl:

I forgot to mention the fresh fruit, too. In the mornings they usually had a fruit salad of fresh melons, and all day they have whole apples, oranges, and bananas out in bins :)

Tikiman reported that there are now two gardenview accessible rooms in Hawaii as Terry stated. We'll be staying in one in a few months and can't wait. He also said there is a lagoon view room in Tahiiti as well as a MK view in the same building. Two gardenview rooms in Niue have also been added. He didn't know if there were others added.

You shouldn't be downgraded unless you received a lower rate. I'd check with your TA about that.

These days guests don't normally speak to the Special Needs folks. Instead, the DRC CM puts you on hold while confirming the room that fits your needs is available.

Airline check-in:

Groceries:
A selection of grocery items is available at the Samoa Snacks located on the second floor and at Captain Cook's on the first floor of the Great Ceremonial House.

Anyone have a more descriptive list????

Taxi Service:

Is this the right number??? or did you miss a digit? Thanks:confused3

As far as PH & DTD I was just re reading the pkg description and it says something about "VIP seating between 11-6 pm...don't know if we'd make it by then, but we'll keep thinking.

LOL! I hand-typed all of that info, and I left a "2" off at the end! Thanks for noticing, I'll go correct it now :)

The Taxi # is: 407-422-2222. :thumbsup2

Regarding groceries, I definitely recall seeing milk, bread, Entenmann's (donuts and pastries in boxes), beer, wine, soda... Not sure what else is there. We're usually in there buying boxes of the chocolate-covered coconut Mickey heads to bring back home with us. lol

I'm going in May so I'll take a better look in there. LOL But maybe someone going sooner will be able to give us more info on groceries before then. :)

I had never thought of shelling out the money to spend at the Poly, but after seeing the pictures on the Poly Picture thread, I have had a change of heart and am tightening my belt. My only concern is the pool: It looks pretty small compared to the other deluxe resorts. We are planning to go the last week of August when it is scorching and will be going back to our resort every afternoon to swim (which I would assume most people do in the summer). Does the volcano pool get too crowded for comfort? A nice pool is a definite for our stay as we will be spending a big chunk of time in the pool. Is it a standing room only situation during that time in August? Is the pool open 24 hours?
