Just like a majority of people on this board, i've been lurking around at other people's PJ, TR, and random forums. I've gained so much help from this board alone. So now is the time for me to start our planning journal.

Our Story
We've been together for 6 years now. We first meet the summer after I graduated my sr year of high school. It was at the carnival, DF came to the carnival with my bestfriend's group of friends. I thought he was cute, and thought nothing of it. Then when I got to college, around November, my friend invited me to a youth group meeting, and my DF happened to be there. DF introduced himself again. I told him that I knew who he was and that we meet at the carnival, BUT he didnt remember me... sad huh? but that was the story of my life, nothing too new with that. Then I started spending more time with the youth group and going out with them to dinners and what not. DF brought me to my apartment after one of the many times we all went out to dinner. After that night we talked on the phone, went shopping, watched movies, you know did little things here and there, nothing to big i guess. But it wasn't until an formal dance that brought us together jan. We've been together ever since.

The Proposalprincess:
So for this it was on Sept 10, 2006. We were in california for our second southern california trip. We were there with my brother, sister, sister's boyfriend, cousin, bestfriend, and bestfriend's now exboyfriend. We were in Disneyland, taking a break from riding all the rides. So we all thought it would be the best time to take our pictures in front of the castle. My bestfriend and her now exboyfriend took their pictures, and then my DF and I headed up to take our pictures. My brother took the picture, I was about to start walking away, when he grabbed my hand and i turned to look to see him knee on the ground with a ring box in his other hand. I honestly dont remember what was said i was so in shock, but i can say i remember crying, and shaking my head yes. he put the ring on my finger. but i do remember him saying right after we kissed, "So this does mean yes right?" I guess i never actually said the words yes, but i swear i did. i turned to look at everyone with us, and i remember saying "YOU GUYS ALL KNEW?!?" i mean my bestfriend and i have been planning this trip for so long, i thought i knew everything that was going to happen on this vacation. well anyways, we hugged everyone we were with and made all the phone calls to parents and everyone. it was a truely magical day at disneyland ^_^

Well i just received our Room Block, Value Season - Contract Information - Website Design - Guest List Information. So the ball is rolling. It took us a long time to decide on a date and location, due to us wanting to please our families, it was hard for us to finally choose anything. So my DF and i finally got to the point where we just needed to follow what we know we wanted for our wedding. So we made the call to the disney wedding planners. However since getting engaged i did get my dress, my girls have their dress, and with the help of this board, i've got so many great ideas and have moved along with planning little details.

I would post picture, but i dont know how... what website are you guys loading your pictures on to post up here?

Ceremony: EPCOT - Japan at 9 am
Reception: Atlantic Dance Hall 10am to 2pm (is this time slot long enough?)

So sweet! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that DBF will ask me on our trip to CA next month.

Sorry i know these pictures are big... but how do you resize them so they don't post so big? Thanks for the help. and all the well wishes. Things are certainly getting exciting.

Ok, we've received information about the room block, however I have a question to ask you wonderful people.

What are your suggestions about the following resorts?
value: all star movies
moderate: coronado springs
deluxe: contemporary

we are trying to just block off two resorts, but we dont know which two we should pick. we are trying to keep the value resort, just to accomadate our guest price wise, so it's really a debate between coronado, and contemporary. the price difference is $62.00.

Any tips or suggestions?

Hi Mona, Congratulations!! Your proposal story is great and you guys are so cute!

We were at WDW in May 2007 too! Never been to Disney land though.

As far as the room block goes... We picked All Star Music, Port Orleans FQ and Grand Floridian. And we are really really regretting our choices right now. We chose those three because we polled our guests and we selected rooms based on where they said they wanted to stay. NO ONE wanted to stay at ALL Star Movies. We only blocked out a few rooms in that resort. But now that everyone has gotten the save the dates from Disney, with the actual rates (w/tax). EVERYONE wants to stay at All Star Movies. And the one couple (FIL's) who requested Grand Floridian is now staying at Boardwalk. But it really could have gone any number of other ways.

We wanted to stay at Coronado Springs. And we now realize that we shouldn't have listened to our guests and we should have put that hotel in our room block for our benefit.

You got engaged on the same exact day as my DF and I!!! :cool1: How weird is that?? September 10, 2002 was the day we started dating and we got engaged four years later. Congrats on picking such a wonderful wedding date! Your PJ looks great :cloud9:

The room block has been the hardest thing for us to decide on also. We are picking three (one from each of the price ranges of the resorts) All Star Movies, Port Orleans French Quarter and The Boardwalk. We chose the All Star for the money (as this is the least expensive) and I think this one is the most "Disney" out of all the All Stars. We chose Port Orleans as we love this resort and plan on spending a few nights there. We chose The Boardwalk as our Reception will be at Atlantic Dance Hall and as this is right on The Boardwalk we figured it would make it real easy for us and our guests that want to stay there to go back to their room after the Reception. We will be staying there the night before and the night of the wedding.

Where is your wedding and reception going to be? This might help a bit in deciding on hotels.

Linda

We have all three hotels that Linda has, plus the Contemporary. Personally, I would rather spend extra to stay at the Contemporary and have monorail access, BUT my guests would all beg to differ, apparently.

I kept hearing on these boards "Our guests surprised us and all booked Deluxes - no one's in our Value resorts" but we found the exact opposite - everyone's at a Value or a Moderate, even though the BoardWalk Inn is where our reception is being held and would be so much more convenient. Then again, many of my guests are coming from California, so their expenses are high already.

I guess what I'm saying is, there's no way to know what people will want! Block all three resorts, but only tell people about the cheaper two, maybe? Then if some people mention they would like to stay someplace nicer, you can spring the Contemporary on 'em!

That's sounds like a good plan! I think that's what we'll do, just tell our guest about the first two and then let others know about Contemporary, if they are interested in staying close to the magic kingdom.

Our reception is going to be at the Atlantic Dance Hall too, hmm maybe we should look into that one too. but yes the room block has to be the hardest part of the whole thing. Did you get a chance to stay at the All Star Movie? I was just wondering how the rooms looked? were they nice?

I think you are right, were just going to have to see what would benefit us, i mean after all guest can book a stay at any resort that they want. ahh well, i think we may go back in may before the wedding to check out the locations and everything.

So I tried to contact Randy this weekend, and now i just got an email from him saying that he is already booked. <-- that's what my expression was when i saw that email.

So what's a girl to do? any suggestion on other photographers? :confused3

We were married on September 10, 2002! Not at Disney, but in Kissimmee. :lovestruc

Have you checked with Misty Miotto for photography? I've seen her work on these boards and it's stunning!

I'm sorry Randy was unavailable for your date :sad1:. You should try Misty Miotto. She was my second choice and her pictures are gorgeous! Check out her website.

Misty and Randy have very similar styles, so she is prolly the one to go with if that's what you're going for. I also highly recommend our photographers, The Roots, for their fresh, photojournalistic style (they do traditional portraits too, though ;) ). Here's a link to our engagement pictures:

HTH!

You should try Misty!! We're using her. I like her style more than Randy, but they are very similar.

You should look at the the wedding pics in ecoon's TR and the galleries at www.mistymiotto.com.

I was just married 12/27/07. Randy was unavailable for my wedding as well. I found Misty Miotto, she does fantastic work and is affordable. You should check out her website mistymiotto.com, also Disney does not charge an escort fee for her because she does alot of weddings for Disney brides. If you look over her website and would like to view my wedding it Michelle and Jim Wedding, the password is Fischer. I hope I can help.

Luckily, Disney no longer charges an escort fee for ANY of the outside photographers - hooray!
