If I show up earlier, will I be more likely to get my requested room?

I know room requests are not guaranteed but I was wondering if anyone has found that checking in earlier in the day will help get your request or close to it? I wouldn't expect the room to be ready early in the day, just trying to get my name on it. We are staying at the WL Jan 19-22 but we will be at the HRH at Universal Jan 16-19 so we'll be in Orlando already and I didn't know if I should get up, check out and go over to the WL early to get my name in or if it really won't matter when I get there and I should just go straight to MGM and check in later in the day after the park.

Anyone have any opinions or experinces with this?

Thanks,

I would imagine that if you had a special request (although not guaranteed!) that the earlier you show up and check in, the better your chances. A lot of it is still first come first served. There are still all those people coming in from the airport that day with special requests also. Figure if the first flights are landing around 8am, they should be arriving at 9 or 10.

Once we showed up at 9am. Our room wasnt ready so they moved us to a different one, that we later had to be moved out of (chain smokers in the adjoining room). On the flip side we showed up after midnight, once and they put us in the exact room that we asked to be in the neighborhood of.

Maybe instead of going to the WL in person the morning of check-in, you could call them to say you're checking in later that day, reiterate your requests over the phone, and ask them to hold that type of room for you.

I'd have to say the earlier you ge there, the better the chance of getting a choice of the room you want.

I just love your sig

Are room assignments done at check-in are are they done in advance, like the night before???

The ressies used to be released for room assignments about 4 days prior to check in.

Not sure if this is still true.

We've showed up early & never gotten our request. Last time was a preferred room with a king bed. Didn't get the King bed (it was our anniversary) and what was considered to be a preferred room - to us wasn't. Hopefully when we check in next Monday we'll get at least one of our requests at ASMu. :goodvibes

I never get my requests no matter what time I show up. Even if I check in early, I still get that farthest parking lot view room, or the room next to the dumpster.

Next week, I am staying at WL, and I asked for a room with a balcony overlooking the inner courtyard (I paid for courtyard view). I just know I will get a ground floor room looking at the villas. We'll see!

No. Early arrivals are more at the mercy of the CM checking you in because they will not have as much to choose from.

We checked in at VWL at 7:30AM on a Sunday, we didn't get a room until after 4:00 and if there was a room that was any worse than ours, I wouldn't have wanted to see it. That said, I think it's a coin toss, could be great, could be not so hot, because when they say "special requests are guaranteed" they mean it!

Good luck.
