Pop or POFQ for four adults?

Me (21), DH (22) and my parents 42 and 40 will be going to Disney early May. The two places we are looking at are POP and POFQ. I originally thought POP to save some money but my parents think that it looks too kidish. We went back in 2003 and stayed at the Caribbean Beach Resort and they enjoyed it.

There is about $600 difference between the two resort price wise. We are unsure right now as to whether we will have a car or not though, so the Disney Transportation is a concern. I have heard bad things about the POR transportation and I know they share with POFQ, but I have heard that things are better bus wise for POFQ because of the transportation order.

My husband and I will be celebrating our 1 year anniversary/college graduation/possibly moving/possibly trying to start a family. My parents are coming just because we thought it would be fun to have them along with us.

I like the POFQ theme a lot, but is it worth the extra money? Is the boat to DTD really that convienent? I understand it is Disney and I adore kids, but are their more screaming kids running around without any parents in site at POP than POFQ since it is a value?

So pretty much, is POFQ worth the extra money? And which place would you suggest for us based on what I told you about us?

Having stayed several times at both, I would have to say that POFQ is worth the extra money. It is much more adult-oriented than Pop. The atmosphere is much more sedate. Also, there is much more to do at the resort itself: it has a hot tub, which Pop does not, and you also have access (by a short and lovely walk along the river) to Boatwrights and the marina at POR. You can also take a ride in a horse and carriage, and the boat to DTD is very nice and relaxing. The bus transport was very good both times I have been there, and we often did not share a bus with POR but rather went straight to the parks. The food court is also less "zoo-ey" and the lounge is nice for some music and adult drinks.

Thanks for replying! I think I would rather do POFQ I'm just trying to talk myself into the extra cost... We can handle it I just want to make sure it is worth it.

For 4 Adults--POFQ.

Has a short Boat Ride to DTD--There are Clubs, Nice Restaurants.

The Resort itself is very Nice--Loved the hidden HOT TUB, which is
not right next to the Main Pool (so not as many kids are going in it).

The Pool Bar was also very Nice and open--Close to the Main Pool.

You can easily walk over to POR and eat at
Boatwrights TS Restaurant (very good!).

This is a Very Romantic Resort and has plenty of Charm--
You won't be Disappointed!!

I would choose POFQ hands down! It is a lovely resort, in which the property is small, but you still get a very serene and peaceful atmosphere. We stayed there this past Feb. and would not hesitate to stay there again.

Yes, they do share buses with POR most of the time, but we have stayed at both resorts, and it really makes a big difference that the buses pick up and drop off at FQ first. Even though you may have to go pick up guests at POR, you will at least have a seat. Also, if the bus is filled up it won't even go to POR.

This is our favorite mod and we have stayed at all of them except CSR.

We usually stay at the values- but last Sept we decided to "move on up" to a moderate- POFQ- it was beautiful! The room decor is so different from the values.

Go for the POFQ!

Are you planning on all four of you staying in one room? That could be very crowded, plus not very conducive to a one year anniversary. Plus you would have to pay the extra adult fee for two extra adults.

But for two couples to each have their own room at POFQ would be very nice. It's a smaller resort, rather nice really and you might be able to get two rooms with a king bed. Those each sleep two persons.

lol yeah, we will have two rooms :)

It probably wouldn't be fun to share a room with my parents on our anniversary trip... and also our trip to possibly start a family :)

Maybe you'll get a nice little Disney souvenier. ;)

POFQ for sure. We stayed in building 5 which was great with kids but if it was just DH and I then I would request one of the outlying buildings. I think they are 1 or 7. They are still only a 5 min. walk to anywhere on the grounds. Have fun.

;) If you do, just remember if it's a boy to name him Mickey.

You will adore POFQ, its very romantic. Not only is the hot secluded, but there are many spots to be alone on property. Be sure to try the beignets in the food court. Also, to catch Eliot Dyson at Scat Cats Wed-Sun. Be sure to use the boat to DTD in the evening. The ride at night is romantic. Maybe your parents and you and DH can try the carriage ride for some added romance, separately of course.

ITA. We love the Port Orleans resorts for all the reasons listed above. We stayed at ASMovies before we stayed at POR and after that stay we couldn't go back. The larger rooms were a huge draw for us. Plenty of room to spread out and not feel cramped.

Haha right... I'm sure my child would appreciate being named after where we were when... yeah I think not :)

I'm glad you enjoyed the joke. Who would do that to a kid?

You're welcome. I'm sure you'll enjoy the resort as much as we do. :D

My husband and I frequently travel to Disney with my mom and my brother. We get two rooms at Pop and it's always worked out just fine. We dont' spend a ton of time at the hotel, so we don't really seek out tons of amenities.

In my opinion, there's not a whole lot of difference between POR/POFQ and Pop. The boat to DTD is nice, but it tends to get really crowded and you often have to wait in line for it.
