Our family has booked a room at the Comfort Suites for full access to the Atlantis resort. It is a lot cheaper than the DCL excursion.

We did the snorkel tour in Jan., but next Jan. we've got rooms at the Comfort Suites and will walk to Atlantis and spend the day there!

My DW and DS may do this next April. Me...... I'm staying on the ship. In three stops at Nassau, I have yet to do anything that would make me want to do it again. I will say that our stop this past April was the first time I haven't been approached to buy "illegal substances", so that was a pleasant change from my past two stops.

Aboslutely not bad at all.
Hubby, myself and our daughter had a wonderful time in Nassau.
Would love to go back again, and we are, next September, if not before.
Wouldn't even consider staying on the boat, especially not if it was our first time there.

We started out with the historic city tour (the only disney excursion we have ever booked on all our cruises). The tour was excellent. Takes about two hours and the driver lets you in and out of the van to take photos, climb the queesn staircase, check out the fort, go up to the top of the lighthouse, etc.
Really great way to get an overview of nassau.

After that we stopped by senor frogs for tshirts and photos with the giant frog out front. Then we headed to Conch Fritters for some lunch. It is on the second floor, a block or two from senor frogs. Big open windows, wonderful fresh food, very laid back...great spot to people watch if you get a table near the window.

We went to the drugstore got postcards/stamps, addressed and mailed them.
(something we do everywhere we go..back to ourselves..nice souvenier)

We checked out the shops, strawmarket, talked with the locals. Found a great filipino restaurant right near the port..had lumpia (it was fantastic..hope it is still there for our next trip).

For our next trip we are heading to Graycliff resort for lunch.

We leave our beach day for castaway cay.

Go and enjoy! The people and food are fantastic.

We did exactly this! We had a good time. I wanted my kids to see at least a little of Nassau, so it worked out well for us. We're a pirate lovin' bunch so we enjoyed the museum. Next time, I'd love to try the dolphin swim!

I've never been there with DCL, 've gone there once on my own and Freeport once on my own... Did not like it at all.

We just did this very same thing on Friday on our 3-day cruise!!
You will have a wonderful time at the water parks, although to me it was
still alot to pay just to get access to Atlantis. It was myself, DH & DS (10).

I had the feeling the whole day that it was somewhat comparable to
Blizzard Beach but ALOT more expensive. We paid $35 for lunch for
the 3 of us and it was not even tasty.
We also have 3 very nice aquatic centers in our neighborhood so we
are a little spoiled by that-
Also, since we were not sure where we were going and how it would
all work it was a little stressful but turned out to be just fine. A
tremendous amount of walking at Atlantis.

Our room was ready when we arrived but we never even opened the
door, just went straight to Atlantis and stayed for about 5 hours.
You may be able to get an earlier start than we did-we are just slow
getting going in the morning-maybe you will feel like you got your $ worth.
We arrived around 10:30 and left at 3:30 to make a reception on the boat
at 5:00. I am glad for the experience but whole family agreed not worth
it to ever go back to Atlantis. It is a beautiful place just too much to
spend on one days entertainment in my opinion.

We just returned from Nassau and we booked the Dolphin Swim on our own. It was definately great and would do it again.

We also spent some time at the public beach next to the Atlantis.

We're not beach people but we really enjoyed Ardastra Gardens. It's a sweet little zoo and you get unbelievably close to the animals. We also got a quick city tour and then headed back to the ship to relax.

Stay on the boat.

My wife booked us this private 3 hour spa package with a hot tub overlooking the sea and it was a lot better than any tour.

Well, I appreciate your honesty on staying on the ship for those who said they did or doing that. I had no idea so many people did that.

Maybe because this is my first time in the islands I am really excited about looking around. I might feel different after I spend the day the there. Right now I have the harbour cruise booked and thinking about squeezing in the gardens and city tour. Darn vacation is hard work.

We did the Pirate Museum in the morning and enjoyed it, met a Bahamian Grade 5 class touring the museum (my DS10 is in Grade 5) so got a little extra history and flavor in there too. The "pirate" greeter was great and really hammed it up with us. We're from the northern end of the "rumrunner and privateer" coast so it was cool to see the same era of history from the southern end.

We stopped at Del Sol on the way back to the ship and got a pirate medallion that changes from silver to gold in the sun ($10), then took some photos of pastel Bahamian buildings down a pretty little alley of shops. We didn't feel like going to the Straw Market because it was getting hot so went back to the ship for lunch and enjoyed the almost empty pools all afternoon.

We thought about going out for a horse and buggy tour or up to the fort after lunch but just stayed poolside. We did hop ashore to buy rum and rum cake late in the afternoon.

We had a totally pleasant and hassle-free experience in Nassau. I found the vendors and people there no more aggressive than in the Dominican Republic, just smile and wave and say you don't need a ride, already have plans, thanks. Don't be offended by people calling you "beautiful lady" or "baby girl" and such, it's an island thing - like in Newfoundland or Cape Breton, where you could be addressed as "my love" and "dear" by male and female alike.

Loved the "nice for a day, come back and stay!" motto at the welcome centre. If I went back again I think I'd go for the snorkelling choice.

Just back and loved the Aqua-adventure... and the DIG was pretty cool!
