Questions about cancelling please!!!!!

After all the talk about possible 7 night carribean cruises in 09, Im thinking of cancelling our 4 night cruise in April 08 and booking for a summer 09 7 nighter. Id rather not miss any school for a seven night cruise and have an extra year to pay for it, and use our AP's that we have this year, for a short spring break park vacation.

So my question is this, Im still within my full refund period but how does Disney handle the refund? I paid with my Disney Visa and it is all paid off.

Do they just credit your visa? or will I get some sort of check back?

If they credit your visa, can you get a check from your visa company?

Thanks fellow disers!!!!!

I was hoping that the summer 09 dates would come out prior to Feb 08 so I could instantly rebook, but it doesnt look like that will happen.

You really do not need to cancel. When the 09 rates come out you can just transfer the reservation and deposits to the new cruise that you choose. Just call DCL or you TA to have the transfer done. All monies paid toward your current cruise would be applied to the new cruise. Hope this helps.

ETA, if the summer 09 rates are not out before your 75 day window, just transfer to a "dummy" reservation as far as you can and then transfer again when the date you want does come out. You can do this many times without penalty.

Thanks nick262!!!!

I guess that's what Ill do.

It looks like my 09 dates wont be out by my 75 day cut off. It makes me nervous doing all those bookings but maybe that would be the thing to do.

Anyone else have experience doing this?

Beware (we just did this) they will charge you $50/head to transfer the ressie.

This must be new. I just finished pushing my reservation for the 5th time, over the last two years, this past May and was never charged any money any of the times. They just moved all my deposits and payments over to the new date. Is this a fee to transfer to the other ship?

Anyone else have them charge to move a ressie?

I kinda need to know what to do, I guess I could always call DCL direct and ask what the policies are and what they would suggest.

I'm still thinking of just cancelling all together, putting the money back into savings but Im wondering what kind of hassle that would be.

Thanks guys!!

The charge is probably for the deposit difference between a 4 night ($200pp) and 7 night ($250pp).

That makes sense.
So I should just make sure I rebook for another 4 day trip until 09 summer rates come out.

Ive been reading the thread off and on about 09 dates, but in a nutshell when do you think summer 09 will come out?

Actually, if the $50 charge is for "deposit" differences between the 4 day and the 7 day, then you won't be charged that - because you said you'd already paid in full... that would be the same as paying several thousand for the deposit :)

My deposit is paid off on my DV for our 4 night cruise, not the entire cruise itself. ( I wish :cloud9: )

How would DCL handle returning your deposit?

or should I try the switch my deposit to a four night dummy cruise, say in Dec 08? to give me flexbility until othe 09 summer schedule comes out.

DCL will just credit your DV back the deposit. You could just as easily transfer the booking to a later 08 dummy date and wait for the release of 09 dates to transfer again.

I 've transferred a number of booking and its real easy. You will even keep the same reservation number.

Hey thanks KaseyC!!

I like the idea of even keeping my reservation #. Makes it sound a little less confusing.
