someone posted a trip insurance company that covered kids free. I can't for the life of me find it! Can anyone help? We finally purchased our airfare and now knowing the full damage I have done :-)scared1: :scared1: ), I can get a quote with the correct $$$$ amount!

access america - I have used the family policy (kids free) many times and love it

I don't think I can post the url

ok, I found it. It doesn't say anything about kids free though. Is it the Basic Family plan? It comes up with $159 for the 4 of us. I guess that's not bad for a total vacation price of $6,500! :confused3

I have used this plan a few times already. This year, when I went to book it, I could not access it on line with the kids being free. I had to call and book it directly.

ok, one more question... Disney only gives us the total amount of the trip. How do I find out how of that total amount is for the adults and how much the kids cost? I am confused! :confused3

This is how I do it: If the total trip is costing $6,000 (including airfare), then I divide the amount by 4 (our family) and use $1,500 for both my DH and I. This way, I am actually paying insurance on $3,000, but with the kids free, I am getting the whole amount covered.

ok, I called Access america, and the family basics, you put in the total amount of the trip, and at the end, they will automatically take the kids off, and it will say $0 for them! Both my DH and I are $77 each. Not too bad, I guess. From what I can tell, it provides excellent coverage. Need to read through it a bit more before I commit, but I will most likely purchase this!

We always use TravelGuard, they have policies that offer free coverage for kids.

Travelex Insurance also offers coverage for children free.

After making the mistake of using the DCL (aka Access America) insurance on our first cruise, I've used Travelex on the past two (including the one leaving tomorrow!!) and kids have been free both times. Cost me well under half to insure all of us on a 7 day cruise as it did when I went with DCL on a 4 day.

Not sure how all this works...we booked our first cruise w/ DU and just accepted their travel insurance. Are the above places mentioned better or just cheaper?

If you booked a disney cruise, you got disney insurance - access america, at the "disney" price
you can do some checking

To be clear, if you were to change to non-disney insurance, you would need to purchase your insurance within the required window (a few days to a week or two) for that company in order to have pre-existing conditions covered. For my family, we wait until the cruise is non-refundable to purchase insurance since we have no big health issues to worry about

Does anyone know if you have choices of various companies to use for insurance if you use DVC points for your cruises. I was told that I could wait until I got the confirmation in the mail or that I could go ahead and call the firm that insures based on points.

Has anyone used this?

FYI...we booked our cruise a year ago.

Just switched to a travel agent (Costco) and because they just booked it we bought the insurance through them and it will cover pre exhisting condition.

Yes, I do agree that shopping around for the insurance is a good idea. However, cruising the first time can be overwhelming. That being said, go with what is reasonably easy and affordable and know that if you go again you could shop around.
