Hello fellow cruisers....we are traveling on the 12/1 Magic and assigned cabin 7631 which is a handicapped cabin....my mother in law is with us and has had a double knee replacement and walks pretty well with a cane.....we are assigned this cabin and they know of her medical condition....we really don't need the handicapped cabin...so.....should I call DCL and tell them they can assign it to someone who might really need it? I feel that we have cruised 13 times, and would love an upgrade if Disney so desired. We have no problem with the inside cabins, because you get great sleep with it as dark as it is....but don't really want to keep another family from getting it if they need it. Also, does anyone know what the real difference between this cabin and a regular inside?

Thanks!

you could phone them and explain your concerns, if you really don't feel like it's necessary and that someone more needy may miss out then you can have them attach a note to the booking in case someone comes along and inquires

we have been allocated 7638 on the wonder and we do need it for reasons other than mobility, it shows on the map as having a bigger balcony and more sq footage, i've read a trip report on here recently where someone stayed in either 7631 or 7638 and they posted some pictures, i'm not sure who as i've read a lot of trip reports recently what with me being new and excited about my cruise

Tom - I'm pretty sure Barb and Tony have some pictures of handicapped staterooms on their website.

We had cabin 7631 on our Jan.2006 cruise. It had a murphy bed besides the regular bed. It sleeps 3 comfortably-BUT_it has no sleeper sofa or chair for the cabin. WE did though ask for a chair for the cabin. There is also absolutey NO place to put your toiletries by the bathroom sink. We used our toiletry bag and placed it on the floor. 7631 is a fairly large handicapped cabin. We have also stayed in 7636 cat #5 also with the HUGE veranda.
Both rooms probably could fit a smart car in them with room to spare.
7631 is not a bad room just a bit annoying when it comes to the bathroom and the cabins layout with no furniture.
Of all our 15 DCL sailings though it is my least favorite inside cabin.

scott when you say both rooms big enough to fit a smart car is this good or bad?

you being american and me being english i'm not sure if it's a sarcastic comment or not and of course your cars are bigger than ours;)

i think it's humour but not positive:confused3

we've been allocated 7638 which is outside and dreams unlimited checked with the ship to confirm the bed configuration and definately one queen one sleeper sofa and one murphy

Yes --it was humor the cabin is that big.
7638 is a well lade out room with huge closet-our "neighbors" let us peek in when we sailed 7636.

Scott

thanks Dan

i thought it was meant as a funny remark but couldn't be sure, our british hmour can be very different

and don't forget your cars are much bigger :rotfl: i can park a "smart" (electric) car in my smallest bedroom so my idea of small may be a lot different to yours :upsidedow

do you have the smart electric cars over there? if not think big shoebox just enough room to squish two of the 7 dwarfes in, no extra room at all for snow white and you're about there:rotfl2:

Hello, We are in #7636 on the Nov 3rd sailing- three adults, one with Wheelchair. Other than the veranda what did you think of the cabin?
Many thanks
