Disney's Magical Express -- Luggage Tag Info

So let me get this straight....

We are flying home on Airtran. At CSR we can check in for our flight and also give them our luggage to check in as well? So when DME takes us to the airport all we have to do is go directly through security and to our gate? We would not have to go to the check in counter at all?

If so...that is awesome! Sure beats having to stand in those long lines at check in kiosks. Guess that's why "participating airlines" are considered a "perk", huh?

So I'm guessing CSR gives us our boarding passes right? In other words it is like checking in at MCO's Airtran, but really checking in at CSR.
As goofy4tink said, YES, you've got it!

Think of Resort Airline Check-in as curbside check-in. When you do curbside check-in at an airport's curbside, you check-in for your flight, get your boarding pass, and check your luggage through to your final destination. You then walk inside the airport, by-pass our airline's ticket counter, and just go directly to your gate. WHen you use RAC, it's EXACTLY the same procedure as if you used curbside check-in ... exactly the same procedure.

Hi

Is there any difference from people travelling from the UK? For example myself and my fiance are getting married at disney world and his parents are using the magical express. We booked their flights and hotel through British Airways but they still haven't received the luggage tags. Will they send the tags to them? We only have got about 4 weeks until us travelling.

Please advise.

Thanks.

I would call DME directly...866-599-0951. If someone books their travel package through a travel agent, that agent gets the DME packet and then are supposed to send the packet, with luggage tags, on to the guest. You may want to double check on that.

A quick question from a first time DME user.

I fly to MCO on this Saturday, and as of Wednesday (today) I have yet to receive any booklet or yellow tags, so I am not expecting them at this point. I have an email that says my "reservation request for Disney's Magical Express Service has been processed", as well as a reservation number.

In this scenario, the email appears to tell me to *first* locate Cast Members at Level 2 (Baggage Claim) and give them the claim check numbers and description of my luggage. They would then claim my luggage, and I suppose I would then proceed to the DME Welcome Center. Obviously the benefit of this would be that things would then proceed as if my bags were tagged from the beginning.

This all seems quite reasonable to me, and I have no worries. Is this indeed reasonable? And I should have no worries...right? :)

Just go straight to the Welcome Center. They will take care of it for you!

Just make sure to pack what you'll need for that day in your day bag. Untagged luggage does take a bit longer to get to the resort.

Thank you for the advice to head straight to the Welcome Center.

It would be pretty easy to print out a sticker with my name, reservation number, and resort, and stick it/tie it to my bags.

Any opinions on a faux tag such as this to help mark my bags for the DME folks?

Your Disney’s Magical Express reservation has been made; however, you may not receive your Disney’s Magical
Express booklet with luggage tags prior to departure for Orlando. Please be assured that you will still be able to
utilize the service and receive the same seamless experience.
Once you arrive at Orlando International Airport, you have two options:
1) You can pick up your luggage at baggage claim and proceed directly to the Disney
Welcome Center. You will be responsible for taking your luggage with you on the
motor coach.
2) Or you may proceed directly to the Disney Welcome Center. You do not need to claim
your luggage. Disney will gather all of your information and collect your luggage for
you and then deliver it to your resort room.
IMPORTANT: Please pack any valuables, medications or anything needed immediately upon arrival into Orlando in
a carry-on bag.
Arrival at Orlando International Airport. Upon arrival, please take the tram from your gate to the main Terminal
and proceed to the Disney Welcome Center which is located on the B Side on Level 1 and bypass baggage claim.
If you arrive on the A Side, please proceed to the B Side before taking the elevator or escalator down to Level 1.
You may follow the airport signs to Ground Transportation.
At the Disney Welcome Center, please present your airline baggage claim checks to the Disney representative
to confirm the number of bags* checked as well as your return flight information. You will then board a
complimentary motor coach that will take you to your resort. Your motor coach may make up to 3 stops before
arriving at your resort.
Luggage delivery to the resort. Your luggage will be claimed at the airport and delivered to your room. Your
luggage may take up to 3 hours after you check-in to be delivered. You do not need to be in your room to receive
your luggage. Please note if you take your luggage on the motor coach it will not automatically be delivered to
your room.
Returning home. You will receive a Transportation Notice the day prior to check-out advising you of your motor
coach pick-up time and other general information. Your motor coach pick-up time is based on your
flight departure and will be approximately 3 hours prior to that time to allow for multiple stops by
the motor coaches.

My working plan is to do what the good folks at Dis recommend and head for the Welcome Center, after all, that is why I asked. :)

In case anyone is interested, this was the part of the email that had me questioning where to go (sorry I did not post it in my original post). Someone puts ** in a email, and I start paying attention. ;)

**If you do not receive the booklet prior to departure or you are
traveling within the next 10 days, please locate a Disney's Magical
Express representative upon arrival to the Orlando International
Airport, and they will assist you.

These Cast Members will be positioned on Level 2 (Baggage Claim) at the
airport. They will be wearing blue blazers, and will be able to take
your claim check numbers and a description of the luggage. They will
claim it for you and have it sent to your resort.

Have a Magical Day!

There's no need to add an extra step and make you hunt down someone who may or may not be out on the floor. The Welcome Center is fully equipped to take down the information, and it's sent via computer to the appropriate personnel. They then print "replacement" tags for you.

Recently returned from a split stay using DME. The yellow tags arrived with the incorrect resort. Information from the DIS said to cross out the incorrect resort name and the two digit code but leave the barcode info as the info in the computer would be accurate and it would be scanned at MCO. At the Welcome Center the agent said no, I should have crossed out everything and written the correct resort. She made a call to confirm that information. When the bags arrived at VWL they had new tags and the old tags had all info crossed out. Just wanted to pass this along. The split stay was VWL and then BCV.

Now, that is somewhat confusing. I thought it was the barcode that had the info on it...if it's crossed out and now unreadable, how are they going to access your reservation info? They told me to just cross out the wrong resort and put in the new one with the two letter resort code. Sure wish they would get on the same page and give out consistent info.

With split stays, you essentially have two DME reservations. My guess is that the tags Morganpics recieved were for the second reservation... so the barcode was linked to that second reservation. In that particular case, YES, the barcode should be crossed out, since that's a completely separate reservation.

Duh.....I knew that...really I did. More and more of those senior moments seem to be happening. I know that when I have had split stays, sometimes I get two sets of tags, sometimes not.

So if I have DME only for the return flight and don't my luggage tag before I leave, I shouldn't have any problems? I would imagine that as long as I get notification at the resort of my departure time then I will be okay. Is that correct?
Thanks- I've never used DME before.

If you don't get your Transportation Notice by 9am of the day PRIOR to departure, just stop by the Lobby Concierge desk. They'll make sure you're booked, and re-print your voucher. :)

We're staying at the Swan until the last day of our trip when we'll be switching to the Beach Club for just that one night. Because of that we'll only be using ME for the return trip to the airport and since we're only going to be there one day, it's impossible for them to send us a notice the day prior to our departure.

Can I just get the vouchers and whatever it is I need when I check in at the Beach Club or is the check-in desk equipped to handle that?

Thanks!

sorry if this is already asked- Do I need to call, and let the hotel know of our airline plans to get the tags? We made a res.but made airline plans after that. TIA......

As long as you're arriving at the same airport (MCO) on the same date, you'll be fine.
