i'm not on it, but seriously considering it - i'm waiting for when i truly feel committed to losing weight..

however, a friend of mine has been on it for about a year now and has lost over 50 pounds.....i'd say she has another 60 to go, but it's amazing...she's been very overweight for some years now, so this is a major achievement for her...

from what i've seen, WW does permit sweets, but within limits....they have a point system that makes it easier to figure out .....they have lists of well known brands and the points for their chocolates and things - like one of those little mini bars is 2 or 3 points.....my friend is entitled to 21 points a day total - so you see, she is able to permit herself one of those chocolates a day..

you soon get used to being creative with your points so you can have some luxuries.....im just off out now but i will let you know how i use my points later :thumbsup2

Hi Kellie,
I have been doing WW since March, after having my 2nd baby, I have done it before the kids as well so I knew what I was letting myself in for! To be honest the good thing about WW is that you can still have your sweet treats as long as you count them in your daily points allowance. It can work out expensive so I would recommend the Monthly Pass which they have just started doing, I think it works out that you get a week free or something in the month as it's £5.90 a week now I think and the monthly pass works out to about £4.20 ish. You also get access to WW Esource on line which is very helpful and contains loads of recipes, and you can also track your points online too.

I usually lose between 1 and 2 lbs a week, if I am really sticking to it. I can honestly say that it's the only way that I can lose weight, I think it's the knowing that I am going to be weighed by a stranger and kind of judged on how I have done. My leader is very helpful and always has ideas to help with weight loss or if you struggle with anything.

One thing I would say is if you do go to WW make sure that you stay to the meetings and you do still have to work at it, it won't just happen - I know some members who start at the meeting I go to are dissapointed that they don't lose their whole weight in the first month!

It does work so go for it girl!! :)
Hope that helps

these are very encouraging posts...maybe i'll start too...

You should! We have a great time at our meeting.... they don't all do them but our leader goes out everyweek and buys lots of yummy Weight Watchers foods and snacks and we have a raffle for them at the end of the meeting! Usually everyone wins something even if its just a yoghurt but it's good fun and I think a bit of a ploy to get everyone to stay to his meeting! :rotfl:

Oh also you can but WW snacks, sweets and the magazine at reduced costs at the meetings.:woohoo:

Hi Kellie, i have been doing WW since Jan 2nd this year, i did really well on it and lost 31 lb between jan and May then things seemed to not go so well over the summer( i got lazy) and i put 5 lb back on when i went away in sept, i have now lost that 5lb and have set my self a goal of losing a stone by xmas this should be achieveable as i have also joined the gym. i think the key is to be realistic about weight loss and make sure you exercise as well as counting the points, also as Gems said the monthly pass is really good for the internet planner and recepies ect.

good luck

Alex

here is how i commonly use my points

1 slice toast for breakfast (1 point) low calorie bread

sandwich crisps and apple for lunch (6 points)

ww ready meal for dinner (6 points)

sugar in tea :guilty: (0.5pts per spoon = 3 points)

milk allowance for day (1.5 points)

17.5 pts leaving 4 points left over for treats or to save for another day :thumbsup2

you can also add bonus points by excersing but i am far to lazy for that :rotfl2:

im thinking of joining ww online as i dont drive and have 4 kids and hubby is at work before we get up and doesnt come in untill we are in bed so no time for me to get out.
i have tried the ww meals and cakes and they are nice so it should be ok to stick to.
thanks for your help

I've been WWing for a year and have lost very nearly 4 stone:blush: I've got another 1.5 stone to go . . .

I've just transferred from the Points Plan to the Core Plan - this is where you have a whole list and range of foods that are 'free' and a minimum of 21 points to spend the rest of the week. You can gain extra points by exercise -I walk the dog for a min of 1 hr a day, which gives me another 3 points, together with aquaerobics and a swim once a week, so I have at least 6 points a day on 'treats'.

This is my personal opinion, but I'm glad I did the points plan first because it has given me a really good idea of what portion sizes should be like, it also clues you up on points values (ie avg glass of wine 1.5 points, Curly Wurly 2.5 points - you can tell what I like to use my treats on:thumbsup2 ).

My 'average' day would mean eating something like this:

Breakfast - bowl of Oatso Simple, Shredded Wheat or Weetabix; (skimmed milk) with half a spoon of sugar on top:); cup of tea

Mid morning with coffee at work - banana (if I'm at home I make myself a yummy cappuccino - all skimmed milk is free)

Lunch - either: a bowl of soup; a jacket potato with low fat soft cheese; ryvita with soft cheese or WW cheesespreads; tin of spaghetti (sorry, just love this stuff and it's so easy to whack in the microwave at work); with any fruit I fancy, a fromage frais and no sugar squash

Mid afternoon - :coffee: cup of tea

When I get home from work and then walking the dog - another :coffee: and a Pink & White Wafer (like a mallow ice cream sandwich type thingies) or another nana.

Dinner: so much to choose from, seriously! A couple of times a week I have salad - but this consists of lovely cold meats (on the core plan this is all free), small amount of cheese, new potatoes, salad cream and all the salad greens, cucumer, tomatoes, beetroot etc. I use a lot of chicken - stir fries, mini roasts with a chicken breast wrapped in rasher of bacon; chinese chicken, spag bog, home made burgers (you have to 'point' bread),

Tonight I'm having garlic/herby chicken - (chicken breast in a lemon, herb and garlic marinade), with roasted veggies and mini roasted new potatoes.

I eat loads - always feel full.

When I've settled down in the evening, around 9-9.30, I have my real treat:) WeightWatchers do a range of real chocolate sweet bars and I have one of these (they were my salvation when I first started!).

It probably all sounds rather boring if you don't have to diet, but - well, I guess my results show it can be done.

I still 'see' myself as 4 stone heavier. I met a friend I've not seen for over a year last week - she walked passed me in the car park:eek: Hilarious.

Then only last night we put on the videos of previous Florida trips to get us in the mood for when we go next Friday - my DD nearly swallowed her tongue she was laughing so much. She could not get over what I looked like then and now (I just don't see the 'new' me:confused3 ).

Good luck - give it a go, you've nothing to lose - or maybe you have:thumbsup2

I've been doing WW since Feb and have lost over 4 and a half stone. The weight loss has been steady due mainly to WW reducing your points as your weight goes down. I started on 22 points a day and am now on 18. They also have a plan called core plan which is an eat as much as you like of certain foods type plan - which I don't trust myself with!

A typical 18 point day is

30g porridge oats
15g dried apricots

4 crispbread
2 laughing cow light cheese spread
cereal bar
snack-a-jacks salted popcorn
2 satsumas

chicken breast
150g rice
stir fry veg
skinny cow mint choc chip lolly

diet crisps
half a pint of skimmed milk
chocolate rice cake
