Pool/rink supervision

It's me again

Just wondering what the 'rules' are for the hotel pools and the ink rink? We're going to the DreamCastle, but other hotels probably have similar policies. None of the adults in our group are likely to want to swim, but the kids are real waterbabies - is it okay for them to use the pool with poolside (clothed) supervision? Likewise the ink rink - can they skate without an adult on there with them? They're aged 6 and 10.

Skating can be done without and adult.
I haven't sayed in the dreamcastle but in several of the other hotels my children have swum and I have watched from the side so i would guess it would be OK.

No matter how good the supervision is and how much responsibility a pool guard has you are always responsible for your own children.
I certainly would not trust a 6 year old swimming without my own supervision.
Neither would I trust a twelve year old one to look after the younger child.

Could you imagine anything going wrong? I’m sorry but I see daily in my profession how danger water is for children and how lightly the parents think about it.

I would never even consider leaving them to someone else's supervision - I can swim and would be more than able to leap to their rescue if they got into difficulties. My question was whether an adult must be actually in the pool with them. In Ireland children under eight must be accompanied into the pool with adults, and for younger children the ratio must be one adult to one child. As regulations vary for different countries I merely wanted to know what to expect - and the experiences of people who have actually been there are, in my opinion, usually more reliable than the responses received from hotels.

Thank God I misunderstood you and sorry but as we own a ship and travel every day through Europe I see the most horrible situations with little children.

I can’t count the times that I called the water police with shaking hands.
Most people just don’t seem to understand the danger of water.

But to answer your question you can keep an eye on your children. Its just not possible to enter the pool with shoes fore hygienic reasons but I guess that’s the same in the UK
