So....is anybody heading to Disney-MGM anytime soon? I heard through the grapevine that carrot cake whoopie pies are being sold somewhere at Disney-MGM but I'm not sure where. If anyone happens to see one, can you post a photo or, if you can swing it, get the recipe? I'm on a HUGE carrot cake kick right now and this sounds right up my alley.

Check out the food photo thread. I think I saw one on there, and I think the poster got it from The Writer's Stop. It sure looked yummy!

YESSSSS, that's where I've seen carrot cake wonders:love: Right next to the Sci-Fi. They have the yummiest baked goodies I've ever seen in their cases. And this summer I noticed the prices being lower than at our resort.:thumbsup2

OK I know carrot ckae, but where does the "whoopee" part come into it? Or is that a rude question;)

I always thought they were a Pennsylvania Dutch thing! I grew up in Central PA and remember them being a constant fixture at bake sales, church gatherings, etc. My grandmother and mom both made the classic - chocolate cake with white filling - but my mom also made a version with chocolate cake and peanut butter filling. Other than that, they were always chocolate cake with white filling. Oh, and they were called "gobs" not "whoopie pies".

I made a lemon version about 6 months ago and my mom insisted they couldn't be gobs because the cake has to be chocolate. I'm really going to blow her mind with the carrot cake version!! :lmao:

The cakes were originally baked in small hoops and hence called HOOPIE pies which then became Whoopie pies.

Here's what Wikepedia says :

A whoopie pie, sometimes alternatively called a gob or a black-and-white, is a baked good traditional to the Pennsylvania Dutch culture as well as New England, made of two small, chocolate, disk-shaped cakes with a sweet, creamy frosting sandwiched between them.

I know them here in Western PA as gobs. I have a friend who makes the original chocolate ones that are the most delicious ones anywhere!:goodvibes

The carrot cake ones sound good, too.

...treats from the Writer's Stop: Carrot Cake Cookie (delicious!)...
