Best Kept Secret ?

What restaurant in WDW is one you wouldn't miss (and why), but may not be as familiar to everyone else? One that comes to mind for me is the Plaza. We love it and go there every trip. It's nothing fancy, but the food has always been good and we can just sit and relax !

:tinker:

Ours, I would have to say, is Columbia Harbor House. We stop there at least once on every trip. Their sandwiches are good and I just have to have their clam chowder.

We had eaten in Teppenyaki (sp) every time since Epcot was open!! I think that was the only restaraunt we had never missed. This trip we did have a reservation, but Disney called a few weeks ago saying the renovation would not be complete and we had to change it. Big disappointment, but I gues we will survive. We also like the Crystal Palace and el pirato y el perico in Adventureland but it's almost always closed.

We love The Plaza and Columbia Harbor house! The food is always great! One place that we really like is Boatwright's at POR for breakfast! The food is awesome and you have to try the Sweet Potato pancakes!! It is worth the trip there!

Mmm, I can't say! Secrets must be kept!
lol. But we do love the Columbia HH. We like to find a quiet room and relax!
Yummy Clam Chowder, too!

For us it's the Sci-Fi Dine In Theater! Most people may disagree, but for us, if we don't get to the Sci-Fi, the trip dosen't seem complete. :thumbsup2

Concourse Steakhouse! We love that place. From appetizer to dessert, it's wonderful! Excellent service too!

I would have said Alfredo's as well, but *sniff* they've closed. Pardon me.. *weep*

lol

Nine Dragons is one of our secrets. We rarely make an ADR for here, we decide we want it, walk up and get a table very quickly. The servers are always very polite and the restaurant quiet.

Very glad to hear - never been and we had reservation for Japan and had to reschedule since they haven't reopened yet. We picked 9 Dragons. Hope we have a good experience like you!!

Ours used to be Trails End, but somehow the secret got out. Previously ADR's were not taken (and not necessary), but now you need to make a reservation and with good reason!

You know Concourse is closing too?
I rather enjoyed it for lunch, I never had dinner there. I agree though, good meal all the way around.

My other "secrets" aren't so much a secret. I have been to Boma every trip for the last couple years... other than a long wait one time (even with an ADR) the food has always been excellent!

Now, 2 other "secrets" are over at GF... Grand Floridian Cafe and Citricos. Both have EXCELLENT food and atmosphere.

We discovered a great secret this past trip. Captain Cooks at the Ploysnesian. DH had the pulled pork sandwich which was to die for and it wasn't crowded so a nice quiet break from the parks.

We stumbled across Columbia Harbor House one visit and had a fish and chicken basket which was quite tasty. There is an upstairs dining area, which was roped off when we were there, but we asked a CM if we could eat up there and she said, "Of course" and took the rope down. The upstairs area was quiet and we had a table by the window looking out over the walkway and enjoyed people watching and having a birds-eye view of the surroundings. Once the rope was down, a few other guests came upstairs to eat but it never got crowded.

Last year we did the Keys to the Kingdom behind the scenes tour, and they served us lunch upstairs at CHH. It's a nice place to relax away from the crowds.

The Sand Trap over at the Eagle Pines/Osprey Rigde Golf Course. A "strictly lunch" lunch menu, fine food (their Cobb Salad is right up there with the one at Brown Derby) and great service.
And--it's QUIET!!!

We love the Plaza too. Quieter, a little out of the way, and great sandwiches. Even better sundaes. Just right for sharing:)

Thanks for sharing your favorites! We're trying to get a couple of new ideas and see if there's anything we might have missed. I have one more that we always go back to...Beaches and Cream. It's such a cute place to have ice cream and a burger.

We love the Cape May Cafe Clam Bake at the Beach Club! The food is always above and beyond what we expect from a buffet. For counter service, we think Backlot Express in MGM is way underrated. The turkey panini sandwich is a very good alternative to the exausted burger and fries fare. And Wolfgang Puck Cafe AND Express are both amazing, although they are not really secrets anymore.

The one "best kept secret" that we are trying for the first time on this trip is the Pepper Market! Can't wait!

The Boardwalk Bakery...we get rolls for breakfast or sandwiches to go there and take them into MGM w/us.....they are yummy and you can split them easily!

Olivia's at Old Key West

Trails End...family chicken dinner or pizza...

Grand Floridian Cafe'

those are off the top of my head, like the Plaza too, and Cap'n Cooks!
