Mickeys backyard BBQ

I am trying to see if anyone actually enjoyed this? I found it a horrible experience and we left with quite a few others not even half way through. The food was horrible. Ribs and chicken were under cooked. Burgers were burned and potato's were raw. When the time came for the characters to dance with the kids they waould grab onto one kid each and dance the rest of the time with that kid leaving the other kids dancing to their backs.

I'm interested to know this also, we are planning on going to WDW in April and this was going to be our first meal there. I would hate to start out our vacation with a terribble meal. Thanks for any info!

We were planning on going, but decided against it. We heard many reviews like the one you had. Instead we made an ADR for Chef Mickeys to meet Mickey and are doing the WCC to get the "BBQ" meal in, both which have far better reviews.

My husband and I just returned last sunday from a week at WDW. We decided to try the Backyard BBQ. We arrived 45 minutes early like we were told and had to wait for 30 minutes. The seating is open picnic tables under a pavilion. This event is extremely loud and the food was not the greatest. They line everyone up to go thru the buffet line, and kids were grabbing food, we seen an adult take a bite of potato salad and put the spoon back into the bowl. The drinks were plentiful and so was the ice cream treats. The characters did seem to zone in on 1 child both times we seen them come out. We also left early, which helped clear the area out. It seemed alot of folks were not very happy.

I'm starting to think that the BBQ is not such a great idea . Any other ideas for our first night. I don't want to have to waste a park ticket to go into one of the parks for dinner. Thanks!!

FREE BEER

Free beer and little kids don't mix well. Most of the parents with small kids left early and were not happy. Just to loud and to crazy on the dance floor. Tipsey adults stepping on little kids, loud drunks fighting in the beer line and small food fight. Security escorted out 10 people before we left and they called for more help. The Hot August weather and Beer brings out the best in some people. On a positive note the food was good the night we went nothing special just good.

Try a restaurant at one of the resorts, DTD or the Boardwalk.

I like The Cape May Cafe, My Son likes Beaches and Cream and The McDonalds at DTD, My Wife likes Chef Mickeys & Trails End

Patti, try the Hoop Dee Doo Review also at Fort Wilderness. We love the show.

We went last year and had an ok experience. I thought it was pretty crowded and loud, but the kids had fun dancing and seeing the characters. I wouldn't do it again, just because I don't think it's worth it for the price. If you're looking for a meal outside the parks with characters, I would reccommend Chef Mickey's.

Thanks Disney Ron (funny that's my DH's name). We did the Hoop de Doo last time we were there. We had an awesome time, my son was called up to be on stage as part of the show. it was great. I just wanted to do something different this time.

PirateJeff and DisneyBarlans, we will be doing chef mickey's for breakfast one morning. Maybe we will go to DTD that night. Do I have to make reservations at the restaurants there? Any suggestions, my kids are DD 12 (turning 13 at WDW), DS 11, and DD 9. Thanks!!

What month are you going? April


Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club would be my first choice You should make Adr's for where ever you decide. At DTD you can make ADR's for most of the Restuarants except McDonalds. If you choise Rain Forrest Cafe don't forget about the one at Animal kingdom only has 1/2 the crowd

Here is how to determine when you make your ADR's If school is out make them 180 + days in advance.

I usually go in the off season. I made ours yesterday for Halloween week with no problems. When I can swing an early December trip I can make the ADR's the morning I need them or just walk up and get in.
