WDW with an 8 Month Old?

I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with going to WDW with an 8 - 9 month old? When we heard about the Bounceback Promo for Free Dining in Sept '08 we thought we might want to book it when we are at the world this month, but are unsure if it would be "fun" for our 8 month old son or not (his EDD is Jan 18, 2008)? Would he get any enjoyment out of it, do you think? I realize he won't really know what's going on, but I thought the sensory stimulation might be fun for him. This is our first child, so I'm not an expert on these things Obviously we would take it very easy and take a break every afternoon. Anyway, I was just wondering what you guys thought about this. Thanks in advance!

We took our daughter at that age. We all had a blast. It was a very relaxing trip. We took our nice stroller from home that lays completely flat so she took all her naps in her stroller. She took 2-3 2 hours naps each day.

We didn't go back for any breaks but we went in December and it was pretty cool weather. If we had gone in September with the heat we might have gone back.

Our dd absolutely loved the characters. We have so many pictures of her grinning a toothless ear to ear smile at all the characters. It was so cute! She also enjoyed the rides and the parades. Anything with lights and music basically.

My 1st baby was 4 months on her 1st trip and my 2nd was 9 months old, my 3rd was 4 months on his 1st trip. I have to say that the great thing about these ages is that kids are very portable at this age. We had a great time with them, my best memory is Minnie holding my dd at 4 monts. My other dd at 9 mon loved Small World as well as some of the other rides. We actually didn't take breaks because the baby would just take a nap in the stroller. Make sure you bring a comfortable stroller with you because Disney's are not meant for baby's.

you won't regret it, besides you can still book it and you have until 45 days out to decide if you want to cancel.

I did it when DS was 8 months old and got his 1st haircut at the Barber shop on Main St in the MK complete with Mickey Mouse Ears that read '1st haircut'. No regrets here, it was worth every dime

If you guys think it would be fun then it will be. Don't be discouraged by folks who will tell you to wait until your child will 'remember' it. Honestly, I don't get what they mean or why it matters... When this is said it sounds to me like an investment not a vacation. I always want to say, "well my memories count too" but I don't.

OOOH, good one! ITA. It's always fun seeing WDW through the eyes of your child. We find ourselves watching the kids instead of whatever attraction we're on sometimes. We have AP's and come often, but my favorite trip was at Christmastime when my youngest was 8 months. She was a tiny thing, and since it was so crowded, we skipped the stroller and I wore her in a sling. She wasn't afraid of the characters yet, and my favorite picture is of her kissing Dale on the nose at Chef Mickey's.

We took our son for his first trip about 2 years ago and he was 8.5 months. He loved it! He blossomed there! Really, he came back with new skills and was doing lots of new things (waving, crawling, etc.). It was a great time and we have continued to take him in these two years since. The only part that isn't fun is the plane ride and having to remember and tote all the stuff, but even at 2.5 we are still toting "stuff." I definitely say go for it! It was priceless!

i'm glad to see all the positive remarks too, as my DS will be almost 9 months when we go in October. My other kids are 13, 6, and 4 so some will have "memories" and some won't. It doesn't matter, cuz we'll be back!

They can all have "memories" just by you taking lots of pictures and videos. You can look back at those pictures/videos when your DS is older and tell him everything about the trip for him to have in his memory. We did this with our DD. She was just turned 10 mos on her first trip and we had a blast with her. She was so easy- we took the stroller and frontpack and she did great. Now we look back at those pictures/videos of her first trip and tell her funny stories about what we did and what she liked. I think any age is a GREAT age to go to Disney!!

We plan on going next year around Thanksgiving. I'm due in April so the baby will be about 7 months old. I think it will be a great time to take a baby since it won't be able to walk around and try to run away, like my DS always wanted to. I'm sure we'll have to take it easier than we have done on our previous 2 trips, but I know we'll have a great time.
