Princess Dresses??

Sorry if this has been answered somewhere else already. I want to buy my 3 year old a Sleeping Beauty dress. The Disney store here in Virginia has one for $39.99. (I have seen the cheaper versions in toy stores but I like the quality of this one). Does the Disney stores in the parks and downtown Disney raise the prices? Or will I be able to find something similar for about the same price?

Thanks in advance!

I'd definiatly buy it beforehand at that price... We didn't really look at dresses when we were down there, because we'd bought them at the Disney Store ahead of time. But DSD5 was tempted by a Tinker Bell outfit... it was $60! I can only presume that the princess dresses are in that ballpark price-wise.

DSD8 bought herself a Pochahontas outfit for $45 though (with her spending money) but obviously that's more of a costume than a princess dress.

I would get a dress before going...last year we took DD to DL for her 4th birthday-our first family trip. Before we left we promised her that she could get a princess dress with shoes and crown for her bday gift. She insisted that we purchase it before anything else-we dropped 120$+ in our first 15 minutes. It is a BEAUTIFUL, great quality, Snow White dress with some shoes that are covered in sequins and a red headband with a bow on top, but 120$-OMG! DH almost passed out, it was actually quite funny. Him looking at the tag, looking at me, looking at the tag again. I will never forget that moment, his realization of what girls cost. :rotfl2:

I recently ordered two dresses and a fullness slip for my dd from mydressuptrunk.com (mentioned by a pp). I love the dresses! They don't have buttons or velcro...they just slip over the head. They fold up very small which makes them easy to pack and carry in a bag around the park. But when they are being worn, they are adorable. They are very soft--not itchy at all. And this thread reminds me that I need to update one I posted a while ago about this very thing. I told one mom on there that I would give her my opinion of the dresses once my order arrived. I'll try to find that and bump it up for you. It may be helpful in your decision making.

I've never looked at the Little Dressup Shop site before tonight (thanks pp for posting about it) and they do have a lot of cute things, but many of their dresses are the exact ones that My Dressup Trunk sells for several dollars cheaper! Little Dressup Shop had some different things, too. So it may all depend on what you're wanting to order. For example, I don't remember seeing the same Sleeping Beauty dress on My Dressup Trunk's site. They had a generic pink princess, but the SB dress on Little Dressup Shop looks more authentic to me. Also, it's important to note that Little Dressup Shop advertises free shipping on their site. I didn't click on anything to get the details, but that's worth looking into. However, my shipping from My Dressup Trunk was only $4 for two dresses, a slip, and the Snow White cape. (They mysteriously gave me a 50% shipping discount, but even if I had paid the full $8 I still would've come out ahead by buying from them since they were several dollars cheaper per dress.) Anyway, hope that all makes sense. Good luck finding what you're looking for!

Thanks Tworoos! It's nice to hear from somene who's ordered from them.

Do you have a Family Dollar store by you?? They have Disney brand Princess dresses, similar to thin dress up clothes, but they are really nice. They are only $5.00!!! :cool1: They are with the Halloween items. Good luck!

have you tried Ebay? I just got my DD3 the Sleeping Beauty dress, what I consider good quality (lined with tulle) for $18 including the shipping. It was worn "once or twice" but even had it not said that, for dress up clothes, I think $18 was about what I wanted to spend. The tag reads Disney Store, so I was very pleased.

depending on when you are going you can check into them after halloween when they go on sale.or if they have children's consignment sales in your area this time of year they usually have costumes or consignement stores....we went to a sale just last night and i grabbed a disney store authentic { or so the tag says } cinderella dress with tiara & wand for $15!!! i can't wait to see dgd 'cinder'elli's eyes when she see's it! she will wear it to have luch at the castle in april. she chose cinderella bacause in her words ' i gots blonde hair like her so i can dress up just like her' look out cinderella she's after your job! princess:

Thanks for the tip! The girls want me to sew them some dresses for our trip, but they wear them so much, some extras would be nice! I will have to stop at Family Dollar to see if they have any!!!

I took my daughter to the Disney Store to pick out a princess costume last week, because we had a 15% coupon and a gift card. I barely had the Cinderella dress over her head when she started complaining about how itchy it was. The ones in the Disney Store are made by Children's Place (bought DS), and they do look lovely, but there are exposed seams on the inside that are quite itchy. :sad2: Not good for a dress that costs so much.

I purchased a Belle dress for my 5yo cousin for $ 20.00 at Sam's last Friday.
They also had Tinker Bell , Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, & Cinderella. I refuse to pay a large sum of money for a 'play outfit'.

Good luck finding a princess: dress.:goodvibes

I just bought the Belle dress from mydressuptrunk for my daughter for our trip next week.

It came super quick and is so soft!

In my opinion, it is a little thin and not the same quality as the ones at the Disney store, but I think it will be a good compromise for being able to wear a princess dress that will be cute and still be comfortable.

my mom ordered dresses from buycostumes.com before we went on our trip. They were really very nice quality dresses - belle and cinderella from the prestige line - they were more than I would pay but I guess grandmas can splurge. Delivery was very fast too.
