Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes Part 3

Hi Chantell,
I use regular cotton fabric for the top of the quilt. If I find a cute print I like (ie. the Disney Halloween fabric), I may just use a big piece of that for the top and not do any squares and back it in fleece. I usually do some easy pattern (ie. 6 inch squares; there are other easy quilt patterns too). I piece my top and then put the fleece on the back...you can do this as in a traditional quilt where you stich the two layers together and then put a binding on or you can do what I said earlier and put right sides together, sew most of the way around, flip, and sew up the hole. Any way you slice it, the kids love it. If my daughter had seen all the fab fleece in JoAnn's today, my wallet would have been in pain :) My husband said we don't need one more woobie around here...I so disagree!!
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Kay

I think I'm going to try this! Thanks!!

Ok everyone, where are you guys finding the JoJo design. We have the material, but need a JoJo to put on it. We are eating with her the first day there.

I would be beside myself and giggle like an IDIOT!!! I think I'm semi-cool in these situations. But I just can't say I wouldn't say something totally inappropriate to this "Jack"...:rolleyes1 I'm pretty sure I'd be escorted out of WDW and humiliate my entire family for generations to come. BUT WORTH IT!

I forget the question he asked us and I answered it - he told me i was smart and he needed a smart one on his ship... if he could find his ship.. You would have thought it was Johnny Depp!!!!

I know these didn't turn out very good, but I finished the HSM shirts. Now I need to get the rest of the outfits done. My girls love the shirts.

Don't look at the date my camera is weird about what date it chooses to use.

First a question. I started making the autograph books from the pdf and started wondering a few things...1. Are you able to obtain signatures from all of those characters?? some of them seem obscure like like Kermit the Frog- DS9 did not believe you could actually see Kermit.

Also, if you have used this pdf on cardstock did you print on both sides. I've already printed them out one sided, but 128 pages of autograph book seems like a lot. okay enough probing... Though I did find out that you can have them bound at office depot for around 6.64.(slightly cheaper if you go w/ a pvc comb binding instead of wire spiral- i like the wire) I'll break that down for ya'll if your interested
the wire spiral is 2.89 (it was 2.49@home depot)
having the cardstock cut to size is .75 per cut/per 75 sheets (I figured 5 cuts-the 4 outside edges then the page in half) 3.75

I am buying chip board at a local paper craft store (.39 for a 12x12 sheet) to use for the front and back covers as I don't feel that cardstock is heavy enough to protect it and I'm going to embellish the covers anyway. JUST MAKE SURE if you plan to decorate the chipboard that you put your craft paper on before it's bound or you wont be able to cover the spiraled edge (I'm glad I realized this!!!) I think I will probably cut the chip board to size myself to be sure of the paper placement, but if you are using a solid or all over pattern you could just cover the whole thing and they can add it to the stack to be cut. I thought of cutting the pages myself but realized how much time it would take and the chance of my cutting something off center or the like....it just seemed like a good idea to have them cut there as well.
just a little FYI for those of you interested in this project- I was surprised how it all added up....ink, cardstock, binding, embellishments...

TOTALLY OT (not that the above was ON) I wanted to post pics of my new window treatments.. I've been waiting on them for a year, my MIL is a interior designer, but has a dayjob too and makes some of her clients WT's and accessories...finally she asked her workroom (who makes most of her WT's) to do them for me. SO I have been anxiously awaiting w/ only wooden blinds in my window. However most of the people in my life (save for my inlaws) could care less and do not fully appreciate the beauty of my new "curtains" -ugh!
so I thought I'd share them w/ all of you! Sorry if they're big, they didn't show up well smaller.

knock knock knock.

Boy, you people are hard to find! I looked at Creative DISigns, and at the Arts and Crafts board, and finally decided to check family. Now I only have (how many pages is it?) to comb through.

I love all the extraordinary sewing! And I thank you in advance for the many ideas that I will get. And I promise to post pics. And my husband is going to be P.O.ed about the money that I'm about to spend. ;)

Welcome GEORGIA!!! Welcome to our club. Now you'll have to learn the secret handshake. If you haven't used the multiquote button, you'll want to become familiar with it- you'll never remember all of the great stuff you want to comment on. Feel free to C.A.S.E (Copy And Steal Everything) what you see. or in the case of some of us C.A B. (copy and butcher) Ask any questions you have we've got some real pro's who are excellent about helping out. I think we should start a support group for pissed off husbands too!!! I currently have fabric for no less than 6 outfits and was told I was NOT to bring home any more until I finished a few.:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: but there was this one really great calico...ok, it was 3, but they were coordinates-DUH!

Thanks for hangin' out with us!!

:rotfl2: Ok I didn't know about this! That will make life much easier! I never said I was the smart one in the group. ;)

I'm glad I'm not alone w/ small kids. ;) She should be right on track to be the same size as Evan who is almost 3 and finally 26# (after lunch and fully clothed!).

Oh, you are so NOT alone!! DD will be 3 in March and is maybe 21-22 lbs on a good day!! I've always had to take in the waists on all her clothes. She's so petite, her new preschool teacher thought she was in the wrong class!!

Everyone's new stuff looks great! The Christmas Belle dress is amazing! The Cindy working dress looks great...the new stiching is perfect for it! T-beri, the draperies are beautiful!!!
I finally finished up on some things and will try to post pictures as soon as I can!

I have the opposite problem. Ds is 36" tall 32 lbs. and will turn 2 on Saturday. People give us looks sometimes because he is playing in the 2 and under area at the museum, or he has a paci. I even had the nurse at my doctors ask me if he was 3 and that was a good 4 months ago or more. His bday is after the shcool cut off so he will be older in his class to start school. He will look like a giant I am sure.

My DD who JUST turned 3 is at 40 inches tall...COOL RIDES this year! She is in a 4T and size 10 shoes- and I don't buy too big shoes! I had to take a copy of her birth certificate last year to WDW because she was "free" and I didn't want any looks from the CM's.

Just got this fabulous outfit. It is the Queen of Hearts for Halloween. My oldest will be alice and my boy will be the white rabbit!
Excuse the hair she just got home from Pre-school!

T - Ooooh! I loooove your curtains! I'm so into the browns lately - but only combined with baby blue, dusty pink, etc - I never thought of a turquoise combo.

also, I used foamie for the cover of my autograph books this year - I'll have to see how well they hold up.

no time to catch up on everything, just read the last page.

And I got my pooh toile today from eeyore! I'm sewing tonight!

What a great costume! You must post pics of the whole gang in their Alice ensembles.

I am working on a dress for DD with vertical strip skirting. I finished the bodice (lined and appliquéd even) and now need to address the skirt part. I want it fairly full. DD's waist is 20.5 inches.

I was thinking the top of the strips would be 4 inches each (4inches x 12 strips = 48 inches) and the bottoms would be 6 inches (6 inches x 12 strips = 72 inches). Does this sound good? Will it be full/twirly enough? Or will it be too "heavy"? Any thoughts? Thank you in advance.

Now I'll have to wash them several times cause I just can't wait to see how they look when the patches start to fray.

BTW, the HSM patches are the printable fabric! I just found some HSM clipart and printed them out. Not too bad![/QUOTE

I love these outfits.. I just got back from wdw and need to catch up on this thread lol

Where did you buy the printable fabric from? I used that same red/stars fabric on my daughters jojo oufit.

We are going to hsm on ice also so I may have to case you lol.
