Costumes for Pirate Night

Do all kids usually wear pirate costumes? We didn't know about Pirate Night when we bought the kids' costumes last year. DD has 3 Princess costumes and DS a Buzz and a Woody one. We'd rather not spend any more $$ on costumes, but I'd feel bad if they end up being the only kids not dressed as pirates.....

i think alof of them dress up , but a pair of blank pants. pirate tshirt headscarf and bandana is all they really need!

they say that most kids do and it would be alot of fun. DS can't wait. go to Littletykes.com and type in pirate or pirate costume, they are cheap and cute. I think they are one size and are supposed to fit 3-6 yr olds (if that is your age range.) I have the blue suit you could buy, I had to get a double pack when I purchased and DS wants the black one.
Also I hear that you get a head scarf at dinner, so check out the local dept stores (like Macy's) for clearance summer tees. If you don't want a true costume. Disney store probably has also....

Thanks everyone! I think I'll try to throw together a cheap costume for each of them so they won't feel left out.

I just checked littletykes.com and they have a cute one for $6.99 but it says size 4-6T. Seth's in 2T/ 24 months and Jackie is in 4T. I'll look on Ebay.

at dinner, everyone gets a "pirate" bandana. Plus in the shops, you can buy eye patches and pirate clip on earings. Plus lots of other cool "pirate" stuff. A pair of jeans and a pirate logo'd t-shirt or something like that with the bandana and an eye patch and earing , plus dont forget the "aarrrrr" growl and you are good to go.....pirate:

Great idea, thanks! So what I decided is this: I'm bidding on 2 costumes on Ebay and won't go any higher than I already bid. If I lose them, someone who's going on the same cruise as me offered to sell me her son's extra costume for Jackie. Seth has a Stitch pirate shirt that he can wear with jeans and we'll buy him a few accessories and use the bandanna from dinner!

That'll work just fine. Do you have a Dollar Tree in your area? They should be getting some of their Halloween stuff out. You may be able to find a sword and eye patch there.

We do have $ stores around here, I think. I'm going to stay away from play swords with my kids until they are older so I don't have to worry about that.

Don't forget 'big kids' need costumes, too!pirate:

Check out Oriental Trading. I just got a catalog today. They have a pirate pack : felt hat, eye patch, sword and bandanna for about $4. Pair with black pants and a black/red and white stripe shirt.

They even carry temporary tattoos. The tattoos are $4 for like 4 dozen. My DD can share with the other kids!

My local party outlet store will order for me with free shipping.

If you'll check out this thread http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1324135&page=4879 this is Our Captainpirate:(disneyvegas1) of our Cruise Meet and his wife and son. They were just on the Med. Repo Cruise. Don't they have the coolest costumes! He looks better than the CJS that's employed by DCL, we think so anyway. But then,we're a little partial. ;)

Easy way to make a cute pirate sword for a kid:
Paint stirrer from Home Depot/Orchard
Four Popsicle sticks

Glue two popsicle sticks on the bottom of the paint stirrer on each side where the paint stirrer curves. (It would end up looking sort of like a T).

Paint the whole thing black or if you are feeling more creative paint the bottom part of the paint stirrer and popsicles gold or silver!

Voila!
Instant cheap sword!
ARRGGG!!!pirate: pirate: pirate: pirate:

I think I'll pass on that one.. I barely have any clothes that fit me as is. DH's Halloween costume is perfect (if he'll ever wear it) since he got a Jack Sparrow one!
